order date

any one order after 11/10 and get it yet or just shipped? I ordered mine 10/28
Every time i called i got no info. I told the rep i was totally unhappy with the lack of info. He elevated it, and i got a email asking me if i had any questions, and if i did reply with a phone number. Well a manager called me, she couldn't give me an answer either, but because i was on the verge of giving up on the order she offered me a free upgrade in the ram. I said that be great as long as it doesn't effect my delivery date. She swore it wouldn't, even thou she had to cancel first computor and add another. She swore I kept the same order number the delivery wouldn't change. Well after reading here that others have consistently received there orders after me I phoned apple, long process another manager, only to find out she was wrong ,my order date is reset to the 11, when she did the upgrade. Grrrrr start over still no movement. So if you order after 11/10, and got notification, I would appreciate to know.

Mine's on that same flight out of KR (korea?) I suspect the Cologne entries weren't the packages arriving, but just customs pre-clearing. It looks like it never actually left Shanghai until after that occured.

UPS originally showed a delivery date of the 16th, while Apple said the 20th. Now UPS aren't showing a date, just that it will arrive "on time". In the meantime, Apple are now showing the 16th! Oh well, it will get here when it gets here...16th or 17th is better than the 20th....

I have the same tracking as you guys (iMac going to Denmark).

I really hope it will be here tomorrow, as I have taken the day off from work, so I can accept the package.

UPS tracking, up until yesterday, said delivery on the 16th.

Now it doesn't state a date.

Apple still says 16th (but I guess it hasn't been updated).

If you do a search on "Sweden" in this thread, you will see a guy's UPS tracking that showed the package in Korea (Incheon, KR) the day before it arrived in Sweden, so it IS possible that we will get it tomorrow, even though it's in Korea (or leaving Korea) as we speak.

Here is my UPS tracking:

My guess is that we will se an "Arrival Scan" at "WARSAW, PL" at around 17:00 or 18:00 tonight.

Check your UPS tracking at that time and let's see if I'm right :)

Ordering the i7 - Delivery times?

Hey guys. If I were to place an order today for a core i7 iMac, how many full days will it realistically take to get to me? I live in toronto Canada.

For all you lucky i7 owners - Congrats!!!

Does anyone know what manufacturer and model Apple is using for the 2TB drive?

I was at Best Buy tonight and the C2D 1TB was a WD Caviar Black - nice!

Hi - Mine is below

Don

Hitachi HDS722020ALA330:

Capacity: 2 TB (2,000,398,934,016 bytes)
Model: Hitachi HDS722020ALA330
Revision: JK0KB23N

It is super quiet !

...Apple are now showing the 16th...

Yeah, it's hard to tell where it is atm. I am now getting:

KOELN (COLOGNE), DE 11/15/2009 3:09 P.M. PACKAGE DATA PROCESSED BY BROKERAGE. WAITING FOR CLEARANCE

So maybe, as you say, my iMac is still in Shanghai. It could be that the custom docs leave from Korea and the machine leaves from Shanghai. It doesn't make clear sense though and all I can really be sure of, is that something is happening. Either the iMac is in Cologne waiting for clearance or it is either heading to, or waiting to be loaded on a plane to Cologne. Either way, I shall have to wait and see what happens. Apple are now also saying the 16th, but I'm betting it won't move until Monday or Tuesday now, or I'll see some activity that might corroborate the theory that the iMac ships after some customs docs.

I shall go back to refreshing every hour, to see where it is.

It's very hard to tell, some people are yet to see movement on their orders and others are seeing things move quite quickly. I am in the UK, so not nec. a good comparison, but I ordered on the 8th of Nov very early one morning and mine shipped on the 14th. Apple are saying delivery by the 16th (subject to change) but the UPS tracking information isn't easy to understand. My best guess, is that my unit is in Cologne, waiting to clear customs.

If Apple are right and my machine moves along again pretty soon, and I do receive it monday, it will have taken less than nine days from ordering to receipt, which I consider pretty good, considering no i7s shipped before the 10th to my knowledge.

FYI I ordered an i7 with 8Gb of ram (4 x 2Gb). NO peripherals and NO extra software.

I'm in Ottawa and placed my i7 order on Oct 22. I received my tracking number on Nov 10, it was sent EXPIDITED and it hasn't made it out of Shanghai yet (today is the 15th). Supposedly it's going to make it to my door on Wednesday but I find that highly unlikely.

I'll keep the forum updated on its status so watch for my posts to give you an indication.

Now in "Prepared for Shipment" Status

I ordered mine on November 9th and this morning it moved into "Prepared for Shipment" status. Config: i7, 8GB, 1TB.

The "Cancel Items" button is now greyed-out, and the iMac is back at the top of the order again. ^^

Hopefully, this means it will soon be shipped!

Hey guys. If I were to place an order today for a core i7 iMac, how many full days will it realistically take to get to me? I live in toronto Canada.

I'm in Edmonton and I ordered my i7 on Oct. 31. Billing information was received on the 14th and there was an Export, Departure and Hub scan on the 15th (all shanghai time) but nothing since then. Apple is telling me the 20th for a delivery date but I have Express shipping which UPS says takes 1-3 business days. However other Canadians have had express and it has taken longer then that so I'm just hoping I see it next week.

When it gets into the city I'm going to find out if I can pick it up from UPS otherwise I'll miss the package and I can't justify taking a day off work right now to wait for it.

At least there is a little progress.

My order now shows, "prepared for shipping" instead of "not yet shipped"

Guess that's at least a little improvement.

Base model i7, order updated nov 9 from the i5.

BTW everyone who is referring to the i7's as BTO's are just being ridiculous.

They are base models, built as i7's, not just modified i5's. Not much different than the burger you order at McD's. Some actually start out life as double cheeseburgers, not just a disassembled Big Mac.

Nor does GM repaint the base model blue pick up when someone orders a red one.

The i7's begin life as an i7, not anything else.

Hoping for a tracking number soon.

Checked local Best Buy, they don't have a clue when they will receive new models, other than the duos.

i7s are BTO. If you change any of the defaults on the configuration page, that makes it BTO.

Your argument doesn't make sense that they are "built as i7's, not just modified i5's". The 2TB version is built as 2TB, they don't take the 1TB disk out. You saying that's not BTO either?

And "prepared for shipping" is more than a 'little' progress. Yours will be with you very soon, everyone else knows little more than they intend to ship it in November.

BTO = Build to Order. It doesn't mean a custom modification of an existing unit. i7s are not stocked anywhere. They will only go down the assembly line when one is ordered. That is what BTO means and it is a 100% accurate description of the i7 and was accurate with every BTO iMac in the past as well.

Apple has been known to change their BTO strategy based on sales. If enough i7s are ordered in relation to i5 orders then they could move the i7 from BTO to a stocked item.

Personally I would think the Apple production facility would certainly have the i7 iMacs stocked in 1TB and 2TB configurations ready for despatch - can't imagine that they actually make each i7 individually on a per order basis.

Another step closer. UPS delivery date has also come back, showing 16th.

There seem to be alot more i7's getting out into the wild, and faster.
My i5 is BTO (Upgraded RAM) but in the timeline someone is still probably only just considering trading in their Hyundai (car), which will get scrapped and then recycled into the metal which will eventually get to Apple for them to mould into my Imac..

By the sounds of it it will be alot faster to change to an i7 - i only chose the i5 cause i figured the newer i7 would have hold ups in production. After the website status page update last night im still "Not yet Shipped" Is there any earlier status's than this? I cant remember..

in my experience, UPS has ALWAYS delivered WELL before their 'scheduled' date.

I ordered on Nov 6.
Still no movement, no prepared to ship, cancel button still works, everything.
I can't imagine that cancelling it and ordering again would make it come faster right? Since mine still says 'ships Nov' and the web says 'ships 7-10 days'.
Surely there must be some sort of priority for people that ordered earlier, even if its not exactly in order...
It almost seems like its worth cancelling and ordering again since then Apple have to guarantee it will ship in 7-10 days!
BTW does anyone know if 7-10 days means calendar days or business days?

I ordered an i7, 2TB, 4GB on the same day. There has been no change of status for me either. Still November :(

I would not cancel and reorder! Just for info, the UK site still has 'Ships November' on the quad core model in the store.
