For the Canadians out there what shipping method is UPS using for you? Mine is "Express" which should be 1-3 Business days based on UPS's website if I'm reading right. I don't have the estimated shipping date from UPS yet though, just Billing Information Received.
Good thing yours is going express. Mine was sent UPS Expidited to Ontario, Canada. Here's the current status:

Thats an I5 yeah? (it has the same code as mine) i ordered on the 31st november, and you ordered a week after and mine is "still not shipped" something strange is going on..
Nope. Mine is a i7, 8GB, 1TB. It is weird, I have never seen anything like that. If it were any other company, we would blame them hard, right?

Ohh ok yeah the i7's seem to be shipping thick and fast now, The apple phone number here diverts to a message saying i have called outside of normal office hours so i cant check to see if i can change to an i7.

Looks like US storefronts are getting i5 and i7 stocked in stores now for people to walk in and buy.. I spose i cant really complain, it did say "ships november" when i bought it and there is still another 2 weeks in November. Maybe ill get lucky and Apple will do a run of i5's and it will ship sooner..

....My shipping status has been "In Transit: Shanghai CN" since early evening, Thursday, 12, November.....

Finally, FedEx updated my tracking status: "Int'l shipment release ANCHORAGE, AK." Hoping for a Monday delivery, even though estimated delivery is Tuesday the 17.

-ordered 23 Oct
-i5, 8GB, iWork installed

Can you confirm that they were i5?

Well that is just plain annoying, and indicates poor excuse giving by Apple. If they are telling me that mine hasnt been built because there are no video cards, how are they getting stocked in stores? Or are they short of video cards because they are filling up US stores? Eitherway it is quite frustrating for us who have ordered online..

The Australian Apple website says that the quads will now ship in 7-10 business days which is the end of the month, early December which is what they tell me is likely for my i5 which was ordered on the 31st October....If people order one now and get it when i ordered mine (or before) the only valid reason would be if they were not being built, or not sent in order of people placing the order... Grrr

Agreed. I have had a similar experience with my i7, 2 TB, 4 GB order placed on Oct. 22. Today, when I called to make sure that there wasn't a problem with my credit card I was told that Apple wasn't yet manufacturing the i7, much less shipping them. When I told the Apple rep that they were, indeed, shipping around the world I was place don hold. When she came back she said that none had started shipping "People are just getting their shipment information. I checked your order and it will not ship before Dec 5." When I asked her if orders were being shipped in the order they were received she said "Unfortunately, no. Shipping is somewhat random." Unsuccessfully, I tried for expediting shipping, given my long wait (Oct to December). When I told her that I really wasn't prepared to wait until December for my order placed in Oct she told me that if there was a shortage of parts my order would be further delayed.

If you're reading this post, I wouldn't take anything she said to heart. Clearly, she was either repeating something she'd heard through unreliable sources or she was telling a creative story.

Frustrated with my experience of being pushed to the back of the line, though, I just decided to cancel the order rather than wait in limbo. Based on my estimated shipping date, I'm better off just waiting for the after Thanksgiving Black Friday sales price (assuming there is a sale). Looks like it probably wouldn't adversely affect my delivery date all that much. And, just for fun, later today I configured an i7 with identical features and I was given an estimate shipping date of 7-10 business days (even earlier than my (now) canceled order)!!! What gives?

WHOOO! Mines just gone to 'prepared for shipment'!

Australian order, placed 10/11/2009 (thats 10th Nov for all those in America ;)). YIPPEEEE.

What has happened to my tracking number?

So far I have received only a shipment notification containing only a order number, and the information that my order (i7 iMac ordered oct 21st. through the danis Apple Store) has been shipped, and is expected to be delivered on or before nov 23rd.
There hasn't been stated any tracking information on my order page.
The Carrier tracking number box just says "In transit to final destination - carrier details to be updated shortly." - it has said so since my order was shipped wednesday nov 11th
On my order page I can find only a order number, an "additional order number", a "PO number", and a "delivery reference number".
I called Apple to check up on my tracking information, but the guy I spoke to couldn't find a tracking number, but assured me that my order had been shipped. I find this a bit strange as others have been able to follow their orders almost from the second it left the factory in Shenzhen or Shanghai.

Good news to any aussies witch had there imacs sitting in Hong Kong for days i checked my tracking number today and it now says there in Sydney not long now....:)

Woohoo! My i7 made it out of shanghai and is in Anchorage. The waiting game is almost over.

My I7 is also in Sydney. I am in Brisbane so if they are distributed to capitals today there is a chance I may get mine tomorrow.

i think there is a very good chance of that...you will properly have one of the first ones in aus mine will be a day latter

I just called the Apple Store at the Glendale Galleria (CA) and was told that the i7 is only available on-line and is not stocked in stores..but some of the posts here indicate that the i7 can be purchased at the stores.

Not sure about the posts that indicated that, but it's well-known that the i7s are custom build-to-order models that will never be available in stores. For the quad-cores, you'll only find the i5s in Apple Stores.

This is the same unit I just picked up ahead of the arrival of my iMac. Remember, there are only 4 battery back up outlets, the others are simply surge protected. So I plugged my external HDDs into the battery backup outlets and left one open for the iMac. If you have other monitors or laptops, dont waste the battery backup on those devices.

My local Apple store told me the same thing. No i7s in store, just the i5. He said they might send one or two i7s just for display but then you would have to order it.

My i7 was ordered November 3rd and still says "ships: november". Anyone else stull getting this?

Awesome! You must be really close to me then. Haha thanks for letting me know that. Damn. I want the i7 badly.

Considering retail stores are getting stock in now, I don't see why they are going to have issues dealing with online ones which were ordered before they hit retail.

Are the retail stores getting stock of the i7's? I see some reports of the i5's hitting the shelves.

p.s. we ordered the same day :D

Cool! Do post if there's any change in your status. Still on "Not yet shipped. Delivery date unknown" here.

Heh, sorry to laugh but it does remind me of Star Wars:

NoleDevil: This was never part of our agreement.
Apple: I have altered the deal. Pray I do not alter it any further.
NoleDevil: This deal it getting worse all the time.

I ordered mine november 6th... it still says "november"

I really don't mind waiting at all... until today when they update the online store to 7-10 day wait until shipping.

I am thinking about canceling my order and ordering again.
