They finally got rid of November!

This is some good news, and about friggen time too, they finally got rid of November for the estimated ship date on the Aussie Apple Store! There is obviously every possibility that it will change again, but non the less this is good news for people who were holding back and were waiting for a more precise shipping date! :D

As I predicted at the very beginning of this long slog, my iMac is sitting in Seattle at a sort facility instead of in my house where it could be useful. Once we got to the "in transit" situation taking 2 days it was clear that the Universe was going to mock me by placing the unit a mere 30 miles from me.

I am going to call fedex today and see if there is ANY chance at all of picking it up. This is the one time I wish this had gone UPS because I'd have the mac today.

This computer had better be worth the frustration this week in dealing with Apple's wacky shipping methods. I have watched with awe with some of you getting your macs ahead of schedule.

LOL

There was a guy a few pages back that called his local depot and asked to pick it up and they where ok with that. Fingers crossed for you

Well, it apparently *first* has to move from Seattle to Issaquah for me to do that, but we are racing against the clock. They would not let me come to Seattle as it's not my "final" facility. I now am hoping it moves to Issaquah in the next few hours for me to get a chance to get it, otherwise, every available option will have been closed to me.

*sigh*

Thanks for the good thoughts!

I'm not so sure about that. Shipments to the US from Shanghai usually route through Japan and here in Japan the Apple Store still shows "Ships in November". My own order still shows "Not yet shipped". Then again, I only ordered mine on November 11th so I'm not expecting it anytime soon.

Considering retail stores are getting stock in now, I don't see why they are going to have issues dealing with online ones which were ordered before they hit retail.

p.s. we ordered the same day :D

Shipment state confusion

Hi guys, new to the forum and like many my apple key +
R/F5 key has started to wear out over the last month.

I ordered my 27" i7 on 9th Nov and was told by the apple rep it would most probably arrive late nov/early dec. I'm in the UK too.

Obviously this week I've been checking my order status everyday even though I know theres no point in hoping it will change for at least 2 weeks. To my suprise it's changed on the US site from 'Not yet shipped' to 'prepared to ship', yet the UK site has stayed at 'Not yet shipped'. In all honesty what is the difference and any idea when I can expect to see any other progress soon. I think it's a bit crap that some of the people who ordered on the day it came out still haven't had any news.

Shanghai'd

My iMac had an origin scan in Shanghai 25 hours ago, and no update in status since then. I hope that doesn't mean it's just been sitting on a shipping dock doing nothing. It's supposed to arrive on the 17th...

I'm in the same boat with my i7. What type of shipping did you have with UPS, express or expedited?

Same here only a little longer, my shipping status has been "In Transit: Shanghai CN" since early evening, Thursday, 12, November. I have 2 to 3-business day shipping with FedEx. Scheduled delivery is the 17th to Atlanta GA. Since it shipped on the 12th, I was hoping it might arrive Monday, a day early. That looks doubtful but who knows? I'm just glad it's finally on the way.

I have the whole weekend to prepare: bought a new desk, have to get rid of the old desk, box up all the old Windows software, backup data, etc, etc. Also, I've decided I need a new desk chair and the room needs to be painted. This iMac purchase is like a snowball rolling downhill getting bigger and bigger--it's out of control! Yikes, oh well, I guess this little spending binge will give the economy a tiny boost.

Ordered Nov 5th, prepared for shipment 27" i7 4GB 1TB. This morning.

Apple Remote is in AK right now. Hoping for delivery before Friday next week.

Same config, same order date. Looking forward to shipping this week :)

Edit: Actually, it just changed to "Prepared for Shipment" within the past hour or so! Time to start clearing the desk! Ordered Nov 5th 8:30pm EST, shipping to midwest US. I had an EPP discount, too. If FedEx takes delivery today we could potentially get it Monday or Tuesday. Very exciting!

BTW: the US Apple site has been updated.
27" quad core iMac now says "ships in 7-10 business days"
while the 27" C2D is back to "ships in 3-5 business days"

the Canadian site has been updated too.
If ones ordered today will ship in 7-10 days surely mine will have to ship earlier than that?
Checked by fully customising it, shipping stayed at 7-10 days.
Ordered 6/11

US site seems to get updated quicker - basically your iMac should soon be on it's way to you (next 12-24 hours for despatch is likely).

My Imac has been on Prepared for Shipment for 12 hours now, dont think enything will ship until Monday. The clock is 1am (01.00) in Shanghai and tomorrow its Sunday.

Has enyone whos got their Imac i5/i7 had eny of that flash problem thats been going around on the c2d?

it was fixed in 10.6.2 which the quad cores ship with I believe

Great! At last!
I'm still waiting for me tracking number BUT did win the Eurolottery-£5.50, but better than a kick in the teeth as they say.
Ain't it great when something/anything changes!

LOL.. yeah it is Its the not knowing or nothing happening that gets me.

I have to say when I got off the phone to apple customer service I thought to myself that she was just telling me what I wanted to hear, but she was true to her work.. My fail in apple is restored :D

Guess Apple proved me wrong, just got tracking number and it has shipped. its suppose to be here 30nov. Thought it was 5-7 day shipping? Thats 16 days from now. WOW

Edit: the mail from apple says 26 Nov.

I hope that means Im getting a tracking number soon. This "Prepared for Shipment" crap doesnt mean anything to me until I see that glorious tracking number.
Mine went PFT sometime last night after I went to sleep. Oh man, it would be so sweet to get it this coming week. I can take a day or 2 off work even! :D

Awesome service!

Just git off the phone with apple and this is what went down:
Me: if I ask nicely can you please upgrade me for free to express 2-3 day shipping?
Her: of coruse.
Me: Thanks!

That was the whole conversation lol.

She just seemed happen to not get ****. Nice woman, great service :)

Nice! I too was thinking about requesting it, how did you go about it, for example what line did you ring?

Just ring the number on your order status page. for me it was 1-800-676-2775 dunno if its the same for US.
You don't even have to be discrete just ask it straight out.
They will upgrade it no questions asked.
Definately worth it!

See my post here for my ordering experience (this far v good)

https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/817154/

Basically ordered 8th Nov, shipped today (14th), UPS estimate delivery for 16th of Nov (Apple on or before 20th).

I think a few things affect the delivery:

1. I ordered extra RAM (8GB), but that doesn't seem to matter
2. I think Apple are sending a stream of products globally and not just concentrating on the US, so some people, maybe in different regions, might get their's quicker than others - if they did it solely on order date, you could be waiting a long time unless in the US
3. If systems are soak tested, or maybe final inspection (but maybe they are not with so few options), it could be that your order gets picked, it gets checked, a fault occurs and you have to go back into the queue or your build starts again. I know that Alienware operate this kind of system.
4. If you ordered other things like software, maybe a different team are doing these systems and this slows things down
5. Maybe peripherals like a printer or a different keyboard are causing holdups

Of course its all just speculation, but for me at least, within 36hrs of getting the 'Prepared for Shipment' notification on the US site, I've got a tracking number.

Fingers crossed yours starts to move along soon also.

i am in italy and my mac was shipped today.
expected delivery 24 nov...

my mac is shipped via SYNCREON...
i googled for it and they are a shipping company i think.

Awesome. I'm also glad I don't have to be discrete, straight to the free upgrade please! Also it's a crazy coincedence that my current machine is also a 15" G4 PowerBook 1.67 as is yours, it's going to be a hell of a leap for us! (although my mac at work was the previous 24" iMac)
