got my i7 4 days early!!!

mine came in today!!! was scheduled for tuesday but showed up today ordered oct 21st 1:23am. (Cupernito time:apple:)

Oct 22, 2009 at 08:59 AM :( Going to have a moan at apple this morning. While I can live with a November shipping date it gets a little frustrating that they don't appear to be doing based on when your ordered.

also a little gutted.. only 20 mins from East Midlands Airport

Hope it arrives soon for you

Mine STILL says 'Tracking details to be updated shortly'! 'Shortly' has a whole new meaning in Applespeak 'cos its been shortly since 7.22pm on Wednesday 11th!
Hope yours gets shipped soon & you get some joy after your moan.
I do think in the UK & Europe Apple need to revise the shipping process so that we are able to track our orders. I think this merge in transit GB for Applecare or accessories is what screws the tracking for us.
Anyway-good luck.

uh oh thats mighty bad! let us hope that they havent dropped it or damaged it!!
UPS Exception doesn't necessarily mean anything like that: it covers things like waiting in line for the next van, or waiting for the barcode to be scanned before shipping to the next point in the delivery chain.

My i7 had two exceptions before arriving on time.

Well, I ordered on November 1st.

My i7, 4GB, 1TB with a numeric keyboard just changed status to "Prepared to Ship" within the last couple hours.

Exciting! I guess next week will be my week! :)

I am in Southern California, btw.

Have you pressed (and hold) the power on button for more than 10 seconds..?
Yes :(

I've called AppleCare and there's nothing to be done. It's going back under RMA and a brand new i7 will arrive in up to 10 business days.

I've done some searching online and I believe I'm the first to report a Dead on Arrival i7 iMac. What a dubious honour that is.

I must say that AppleCare support is fantastic. I may upgrade to the 3 year cover based on this experience; the people on the phone couldn't be more helpful.

I know everyone has seen this kind of post already but,

2TB 4Gb i7 Ordered through Education Store on 23rd October.

Last night I noticed that the One to One membership item was segregated in the list from the iMac and the other items. This morning however....

PREPARED FOR SHIPMENT!!

I know this isn't an actual shipment, but its progress in the right direction, hopefully shipment will happen today :). For all those still waiting. I reckon that by Sunday evening (Latest) you will have seen a change in your order status.

where you from??

Same here. I noticed my One-to-One is now segregated. Still no change in shipping though.

Has any body done the printer deal when they purchased there new imac on the apple web site it states that, if you purchased a new mac between oct 23 and jan 18 to receive 130 cash back i orded mine on the 21st so does this mean i can not apply? i should i just ring apple ?

Got mine early as well
I got an email from Apple on the 11/12 about my imac being shipped
my Online Status showed that it will be delivered on 11/16
I followed the tracking number to FedEx where it showed that the delivery will be on 11/17
so I figured FedEx would know best so 11/17 it would be
Well one can only imagine my surprise when i got the call from the mail room about a big package that came in from me.
I'm glad I stuck to the free delivery

Mine changed into prepared for shipping like 10 hours ago, and I got the tracking code with the machine in Shanghai a couple of hours ago. It was quicker than I expected. Hope the jump from Shanghai to Tokyo is not long... maybe it can come directly? The only similar jump I saw on this thread was from Shanghai to Osaka on its way to somewhere in the States so I wonder if mine will come via Osaka or directly into Tokyo. Can't wait for it!!!

Ordered an i7 with 4Gb (plan to stick another 4 at home) and 1Tb drive.

One of the very first things I want to do is testing how much time it takes to import AVCHD into Final Cut... it takes ages (literally, have to leave it importing over night) on my current early 2006 Core Duo 2Ghz/2Gb iMac...

For those who are still waiting, its likely that all orders will very shortly be fulfilled. The US apple website is now showing up as "7-10 business days" for the quad cores to be fulfilled.

I'm not so sure about that. Shipments to the US from Shanghai usually route through Japan and here in Japan the Apple Store still shows "Ships in November". My own order still shows "Not yet shipped". Then again, I only ordered mine on November 11th so I'm not expecting it anytime soon.

So I called apple again this morning to see what the hold up was with my order after seeing people who had ordered after me having theirs shipped already.

Turns out that a block was on my ordered from last Saturday when I called up because my wife is entitled to a discount. Lady I spoke to was really helpful so finally I should get to see some movement

has only had their order got into PFS or Shipping over the weekend???

Pfs

I just chEcked my order status and it is now prepared for shipment. Inguess the apple rep I talked to last night did know something! She did say it would ship in the next day or two. Ahh the waiting is now just a bit easier bc I got the expedited shipping for free a week ago! Ordered mine nov 6 i7 quad 4x2 gb ram 1tb HD. I live in Florida.

Definitely ring Apple. I just called Apple to add on a printer and they could not have been more accommodating.

Omgomgomg! I finally get to be one of those people!

Nov 14 : Prepared for Shipment !!!!

:D:D:D

prepared for shipment

mine still shows not shipped yet but when i called apple the recording says prepared for shipment. Wonder why the discrepancy ? also once it shows prepared for shipment how long before that actually ship? just checked they haven't even charged or authorized my credit card yet. I don't get this i ordered 10/28 and people in November got theirs

I would give them a call and see what they say. I have read some post where people have gone from PFS to shipping with 3-4 hours

call them

lol They know me by first name now. I hate calling sounding like a child wanting a toy but you always get same response We don't know anymore then the web. Grrrr Thanks for responding! hopefully your correct

"Boy, I hate being right all the time."

As I predicted at the very beginning of this long slog, my iMac is sitting in Seattle at a sort facility instead of in my house where it could be useful. Once we got to the "in transit" situation taking 2 days it was clear that the Universe was going to mock me by placing the unit a mere 30 miles from me.

I am going to call fedex today and see if there is ANY chance at all of picking it up. This is the one time I wish this had gone UPS because I'd have the mac today.

This computer had better be worth the frustration this week in dealing with Apple's wacky shipping methods. I have watched with awe with some of you getting your macs ahead of schedule.

See my post here for my ordering experience (this far v good)

https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/817154/

Basically ordered 8th Nov, shipped today (14th), UPS estimate delivery for 16th of Nov (Apple on or before 20th).

I think a few things affect the delivery:

1. I ordered extra RAM (8GB), but that doesn't seem to matter
2. I think Apple are sending a stream of products globally and not just concentrating on the US, so some people, maybe in different regions, might get their's quicker than others - if they did it solely on order date, you could be waiting a long time unless in the US
3. If systems are soak tested, or maybe final inspection (but maybe they are not with so few options), it could be that your order gets picked, it gets checked, a fault occurs and you have to go back into the queue or your build starts again. I know that Alienware operate this kind of system.
4. If you ordered other things like software, maybe a different team are doing these systems and this slows things down
5. Maybe peripherals like a printer or a different keyboard are causing holdups

Of course its all just speculation, but for me at least, within 36hrs of getting the 'Prepared for Shipment' notification on the US site, I've got a tracking number.

Fingers crossed yours starts to move along soon also.
