Certainly nothing rumoured for this year's ipad pros give me reason to upgrade my 2021 12.9 ipad Pro. Sounds like 11 inch will get the mini Led display
I have a gut feeling Apple are going to do a minor refresh to the 11” in the spring with miniLED and leave the iPP line up stand until spring next year, especially with rumours of a design refresh, and the fact M2 isn’t coming until late this year.

There I something fishy about the model numbers registered last week, as there is enough for 2 iPad models, not 3.

However, some of them model numbers may be reserved for the iPP in the fall, but it’s weird that they haven’t registered all of the model numbers in one go.

I will be honest I don’t think it’s worth them releasing them every year. Think it should be 18-24 months really.

No I think the entire M series chip line up (all macs included) only need refreshing every 2 years at this point, even the Watch and phone could go with 2 year refreshes if it wasn’t for the demand.

Release schedule is already every 15-18 months for the iPad Pro and Air line. The iPad mini has an even longer gap.

The only iPad model that has gotten a yearly update thus far is the basic $329 iPad.

I think the minor refreshes still serve a purpose. The 2020 iPad Pro may be disappointing at the 1TB level but it's pretty good value at base config (128GB, 6GB RAM) particularly for those who skipped the 2018 iPad Pro. It would certainly be nice if Apple goes up to 256GB base next refresh.

14.7 is pretty massive but it’s possible. it doesn’t serve much purpose without powerful software though.
except maybe for die hard Procreate users

be prepared for an 14.7" ipad pro

If Samsung can convince buyers on their 14" Tab S8 Ultra, I can certainly see Apple attempting to throw their hat into the ring. The issue with a bigger screen iPad is where does the line get crossed with the MacBook Air/14' MacBook Pro & price.

The base 14" Macbook Pro is $1,999.00. Base 13" is $1,299.00

Why would someone choose the 14" iPad Vs 14" MacBook Pro for the same price?

Because one is a tablet and the other's a laptop.

Not everyone wants a Mac. Windows laptop/desktop + iPad suits my needs better.

Small refresh for 11" with miniLED is a possibility. Other than that I don't think iPP will get another major refresh this year unless Timmy wants to reveal their new M2 chip with iPP alongside the new iMac.

Ipad Pro was refreshed in 2020 then a year later in 2021 and will be updated in mid 2022 so it's very much every year at this point

Seems very unlikely to me. I think the update will come with the M2 later this year. they’re not going to do a mini LED update now with the same M1 in there.

I was holding out for the 2022 until my toddler broke my screen. Well, to be fair, he started the breaking - I helped finish it.

Now I'm in the market as I use my iPad daily, albeit for absolutely nothing productive. I would buy a 2021 refurb but they don't seem to exist.

Unlike Macs, Apple generally don't offer refurbs for their current iPad lineup.

Thus far, the latest models they have on the refurb store are:

iPad 8th gen
iPad Air 3
iPad Pro 11 2nd gen
iPad Pro 12.9 4th gen
iPad mini 5

The 2020 to 2021 was more like 14 months, iirc. Besides, the 2020 was a very minor refresh over the 2018.

If Apple does upgrade the iPad Pros in spring, I don't expect to see any significant changes. Barring Mini-LED for the 11", there's not much they can improve at this point.

Well yeah the biggest area should be via software

Yes, but they went from 2018 to a pretty minor refresh in 2020, and the 2021 11" is essentially the same device with a faster processor and and some camera tricks.
