WARNING macOS Catalina 10.15.4 Supplemental Update BRICKED my 13 inch Macbook 2018!

I attempted to install the update but about halfway through my computer shutdown and it bricked my 2018 13 inch MacBook. I waited two hours then attempted to power on my computer. However, there was no power, no fans coming on and off or anything when pressing and holding the power button. It was plugged and fully charged while updating. Anyone else having this problem? Also attempted to do a SMC reset to no avail still won't turn on. I am sending it in for repair. I would hold off updating unless you want to risk losing your computer for a week.

I guess I am not alone in this update bricking my computer. chevs10zr2 posted this in the comment section on 9to5mac.com here is what he said, "Went to go update, and it just bricked my 2018 15 in MacBook. No power, no fans coming on and off or anything when pressing and holding power button. Plugged in with Apple cord and brick and everything and was fully charged when it went to update. Weird."

you could not boot into recovery, or internet recovery? no power at all? try a few other things first, perhaps, before you send it in for repair (or call apple...). good luck!

Same just happened to me. 2019 Macbook Pro. Download...Preparing...Restarting - not! No sound, black screen. Charger is definitely working.

Installing on my 2019 iMac 27. Taking a VERY long time to install. But it is moving now. Will update when complete. Fingers crossed.

Supplemental update took about 25 minutes to complete on my iMac... WOW... Must have been a lot of thing that got updated with that one... Looked frozen a few times during the update but did complete normally. All seems to be okay now.

No power at all. I tried SMC and PRAM reset but sadly was unable to do either since my computer won’t even turn on.

My 2018 15" installed the update without issues. Seems to recognize plugged in USB things instantly now, last update slowed that down a bit (plug in, 2 sec. nothing, then the system recognized USB drive/...).

No issue with installing on my early 2015 13" rMBP. I hope you can get this fixed quickly with the pandemic going on.

I updated 2 2012 Minis, a 2019 16" MBP, a 2018 13" MBP, and a 2017 13" non-touchbar MBP, all without any issues, fortunately.

Same on a 2019 MBP 13 Touch Bar (A1989). Guess we are all awaiting a callback from Apple Support. Even tried disconnecting the battery and reconnecting, still no power at all. Impressive for an OS update.

I updated my 2020 MBA without issues. It did seem to take quite a while. Even looked like the MBA was off for a bit but eventually it booted itself and all was well.

Well you could try this maybe if you have another MAC.

I haven't updated to V 10.15.4 yet. Looking at all these bugs I believe I'll stay where I'm at now V 10.15.3 where everything is working fine.
Doesn't Apple test these updates before releasing them? Apple is sounding more and more like Microsoft with bad updates.

The supplemental update did take much longer than it should have. And several times during the update process the screen went black and appeared to have shut down. But eventually it started up again. That whole process was worse than some firmware updates I have done before. However, now everything is okay and up and running on my iMac.

I had problems with the last update a few days ago and my 2017 MacBook pro would shut down when battery hit 14% and would not start until it was charged more. I reset smc, pram finally reinstalled macOS from recovery no problems since. Also did todays supplemental and no problem.

So glad I reverted to Mojave on my 2019 MBP. Never updating again!
