Hopefully this is just a fluke for a few machines.

I wrote an article that shows how to restore BridgeOS on T2 equipped Macs. Keep in mind, this is only for situations like the one listed above where the Mac installed an update and no longer looks like it will power on or show anything on the screen.

Good to know that the update is not an issue for people. Gives me a bit more confidence to go ahead and install it. Some people have been reporting that the supplemental update is causing them crashing issues.

This update actually fixed mine where a lot of times the left ports won't accept power (battery is not charging, drawing less than 1W from DC, happens to right ports too), or constantly disconnecting and reconnecting, especially after the battery is charged. This update might has something to do with power management

Downloaded on my 2019 iMac 27. Outside of it taking a lot longer to install than I expected, all went well....so far.

I've updated (yesterday's and today's) on my MacBook 16" from Nov 19. Only issue I've noticed so far is none of my email accounts are working/syncing......

My 2019 iMac got stuck in a reboot loop, during supplemental, eventual worked out to remove my external TB Raid and SATA Dock. Then it completed okay, and seems alright.

Restarted to update to 10.15.4 this morning. Walked away, then came back a few minutes later to find my laptop completely unresponsive. Tried power cycling and resetting NVRAM/SMC, all to no avail. I have a 13" 2018 MacBook Pro with Touch Bar.

I don't have another Mac. How would I fix this?

Seems to be problematic for some Apple computers built in the "shameful quality decline years". I have never had a problem with updates on my 2013 MBP but that was built when Apple had more interest in providing decent quality for its costly products. Didn't mind paying those prices in those days as you were pretty confident that the product would provide years of trouble-free service. Different ball game these days

From what I have been reading here, it may be that many of the folks who are having issues simply didn't want long enough for the process to complete. In my case. it took much longer than I am used to for a "security" update. Consider the statement above above:

Walked away, then came back a few minutes later to find my laptop completely unresponsive.

I didn't time the process, but I believe it was well in excess of 30mins and the screen went dark more than once during the update period.

My advice - BE PATIENT.

So glad I reverted to Mojave on my 2019 MBP. Never updating again!

I even went to the trouble of stopping Apple from reminding me to upgrade from Mojave.

I have a mid-2012 MBP that still has a SATA. If and when I put an SSD into it, I'll think about the Mojave to Catalina upgrade. I'm still using iTunes and some older iPods so I'm reluctant to take the machine to Catalina anyway. My first Catalina experience is likely to be with the MBA I haven't bought yet.

It's true though that I've learned to just leave alone any Macs that are upgrading and seem to have stopped "doing anything". Eventually they've all eventually finished up okay. Sometimes the OS upgrades do take a really long time, particularly on somewhat older machines; even regular OS updates can involve several reboots, with what seem like very long pauses in between. Also the "time remaining" may be quite far off in either direction. Patience seems to be key.

Supplemental update took about 25 minutes to complete on my iMac... WOW... Must have been a lot of thing that got updated with that one... Looked frozen a few times during the update but did complete normally. All seems to be okay now.
No issues for me on either of my Macs. But yeah, it took a good amount of time, even on my late 2018 Mac Mini which is directly connected to my router via an ethernet cable.

Late 2014 MBP 15". The install progress bar was stuck at 100%. I left it alone for 30 minutes then forced a shutdown and powered back up. It started the install again and became stuck at 100% again. Left it alone for several hours with no change. Forced it off again and tried again. It finally completed the third time.

I attempted to install the update but about halfway through my computer shutdown and it bricked my 2018 13 inch MacBook. No power, no fans coming on and off or anything when pressing and holding the power button. It was plugged and fully charged while updating. Anyone else having this problem? Also attempted to do a SMC reset to no avail still won't turn on. I am sending it in for repair. I would hold off updating unless you want to risk losing your computer for a week.
Killed my Mac mini. :(

Hi guys, just signed up to share my experience. The update bricked my MacBook Pro 2018. No power, no nothing... Tried all keyboard tricks possible.
Had to install Apple Configurator 2 on my Mac mini, connected both with a USB-USB C cable and restored through DFU and the MacBook started responding! Now I'm reinstalling OS.
So glad it worked!

Seems updates have turned into cross your fingers and do I still own a MAC after doing this. So glad that I have resolved o almost never update my MAC again. Lots of time and frustration saved...and no more failed logic board and a $700 bill for repair given my MAC is now out of warranty.

And that's something I would NEVER do. Install software or updates using WiFi 1387914497.gif I download the software first, quit the internet then do the install. Much safer and quicker IMHO.

Updates such as this one which updates the T2 chip on Macs often requires that the internet be connected in order to check the signature of the firmware.
