Same on my Mac mini. Fine now though. No more updates until the Apple stores are open. I don’t need another three weeks without a Mac.

What worries me most is that Apple does not assume the mistakes it makes towards its customers.

Imagine buying a computer costing over 3200 USD, using it only once during 3/4 months, and when performing an official update from Apple, the machine will break down and have to be opened to replace the logic board. In this situation, we did not buy a new computer, but a refurbished one for the price of a new one.

At least the majority of the laptops with Windows are not so expensive like Apple computers. For me a Lenovo laptop with Linux will give me less headaches than Apple right now and cost me less than one third!

Why didn't you buy that in the first place?

No interruption. In my case is needed a new Logic Board on my MacBook Pro 16 inch 2019. When I made the update everything went well. After restarting it, the computer never came to life.

I've actually been in this boat (somewhat) recently. I had to return a faulty 16" MBPro about 15 to 16 days after purchase... just a day or two out of the return window.

The difference here is that
  1. I actually used my $3,000+ custom build laptop daily, so noticed the issue after about 10 days of use.
  2. Took it to the Apple store and went through the (waste of time) process of letting the genius' try to fix what I already knew was a hardware problem.
  3. Because it was so close to the return window, and the laptop was custom built (64 GB RAM, fully updated video card, etc.), Apple just gave me a brand new, similarly spec'd laptop that they had in stock in that store (I could have waited 2 weeks for the exact same model had I chosen).
The point being, you have to go through the process and be patient. Apple isn't out to screw you out of anything... and you're only making yourself look like a fool making these "I'm gonna toss it back through the window and wipe my hands clean" type statements that you're making in your other thread about this issue.

What @q3anon is saying makes no sense. You can’t build Apple code on a Linux box and test it.

I don't need to own Apple machines to test the software. I think you don't understand nothing about coding.

It's your opinion and I respect. I need to move on with this chapter. No more time to waste with Apple. See you.

You keep saying "see you" as though you're leaving... yet here you are. Again. Not "moving on" and certainly not leaving. And I assume still using the MacBook Pro that most of us think you never returned because you realized you let the battery die and, upon charging, all is well again.

Just spoke with Apple support and got an appointment with and authorized representative in Brazil ??

Isopot, pós atualização o meu Macbook foi caindo de performance até que morreu. Descobri que a placa lógico foi danificada e o custo é de 3700 reais pra conserto. Computador com menos de dois anos.

Do not waste your time. Here is almost mandatory to say only good things about Apple.

My colleague with a 13 inch MacBook Pro laptop already replaced the Logic Board twice under warranty! The last time was three weeks ago! Now fans makes lot of noise. He's thinking of selling it.

Same situation here. After an interrupted Catalina update my 2018 Macbook Pro is completely dead, bricked. It won't turn on no lights, chimes. I already tried SMC reset, nothing. It was working perfectly prior to the attempted update and was in perfect physical condition. It less than a year and half old. I cost me over 5K. Man I'm a sucker for buying this thing.

There is a real nasty software issue with the latest MacOS update, it is completely bricking computers. It's happening to a number of very very unlucky folks.

I tried the very helpful DFU restore process here https://mrmacintosh.com/10-15-4-supplemental-update-bricking-small-number-of-t2-macs/

but no luck.

I brought it in for service at an authorized Apple service provider, they couldn't get it to started either and the tech didn't see anything wrong with the logic board when they opened it up.

I have spoken with Apple support, but they haven't acknowledge the problem and they haven't offered to make it right, they have just told me I need to send it in for out of warranty service.

$900 to send it in for service, but what's another 1K right… SMH.

Welcome to the club. Apple just don’t care. You need a new Logic Board, believe me.
