There is NO small phone market. I don’t know when the mini maniacs are finally going to realize this and move on

There is definitely a small phone market. How big hard to say but we could reasonably agree it's smaller than the base iPhone, etc market. Generally accepted though the Minis sold in the millions which is more than some other manufacturers' total sales.

What I don't know is when the Plus Max Ultra Supreme maniacs are finally going to realize that not everyone likes the phone they like and move on. Are Mini owners going into threads about big phones and attacking their owners?

I have been wondering the same exact thing . . . . I have been a Pro Max user ever since the 11 Pro Max days then discovered for myself what the 13 mini was all about when I got my green 512GB 13 mini in December and began using it alongside my iPhone Air. I changed my thoughts on the 13 mini only after using mine for two months. Even today, the 13 mini is a solid iPhone on the current iOS although I somehow believe the optimal iOS for the 13 mini is iOS18 but this is my thoughts on this as my 13 mini is on iOS 26.3 RC and doing okay.

My only regret is that I never ordered the 13 mini when Apple was selling them. I’m still glad I have a mint pre-owned example with a battery health of 90% and 277 cycles on it to use today. 😊

There’s definitely a market, just not one that would provide meaningful incremental sales. None of us who want a mini are going to go to Android - if anything, phones on the other side are by and large just as big if not bigger. Anybody who uses Android is already used to carrying a giant slab in their pocket (and has been used to that for two or three generations already), so there just won’t be that many ppl who would be swayed by a smaller phone to switch.

So why spend more money developing a product that won’t generate much more sales volume, and may even reduce average selling price? When our minis die, we’ll pick from whatever’s already available.

I believe the issue is that the market that wants an iPhone Mini isn't the market segment that Apple wants. We don't buy lots of apps, use lots of services, upgrade every year, etc. People with small screen phones are likely to use their their phones as phones and messaging tools. Apple likes people who buys lots of games/IAP on the app store, use lots of iCloud and other Apple services, etc. Large phones with large screens are a good match to influencers, gamers, and those who use iPhones as their primary computer. Not to mention old people walking around yelling into their phones while on speaker...

This is increasingly where I've landed on all this as well.

Services is where Tim has pushed all the chips on the table, and folks who prioritize smaller device size and more functional and limited device usage simply aren't as profitable.

My 12 mini died, I looked at the current models, which I didn’t like, so ordered a 13 mini.
I don’t know how people comfortably keep those new phones in their pocket. I was wearing gym shorts and the 17 felt like a brick in them.
Why I went on Amazon and got my Green 512GB 13 mini in December thru “Renewed Premium” and began using it as a backup iPhone to my Air. I got the Air for it’s very thin and light form factor however there are times I prefer using a smaller, more compact, iPhone and this is where my 13 mini comes in. I actually enjoy using this compact iPhone😊

For some this is true . . . although I see myself still using my 13 mini as my backup iPhone for many more years to come😊
i tried, man. traveling and not being around outlets finalized it. carrying around a magsafe charger that weighs more than the phone defeats the purpose for me.

air it is, for now.

I don’t use my 13 mini as my primary phone so mine lasts all day however I have access to a battery pack or charger and use it when needed. To extend battery life on my 13 mini, I keep it on low power mode which disables all background app updates and allows the battery to last much longer.

A good tip about low power mode.

I do that a fair bit as well.

I still need to get in for a new battery.

I can now do my own battery replacement as well as screen replacement for all my 12 & 13 minis that are in my iPhone collection so I no longer worry about needing to do this. When the time comes, I order replacement batteries from the iFixit web site and adhesives so secure the screen once the battery replacement is complete. I have done the battery replacement with my Product Red 512GB 13 mini and am now waiting to get the OEM screen to replace on this device since the previous owner of this device had a light scratch on the screen surface. I have become too picky to settle for this . . .

Yes, I have all the tools and supplies needed to do this the proper way just like how Apple employees at the Genius Bar will do the replacements. I have the same Apple tools to do this work 😉

If the Apple Watch can be a phone why not build something like a pen sized mini iPhone as well? You could just tell it whom to call no need for a dial or any big screen. It still could include something like a beamer to generate a big display area whenever needed.

Well the difference is that Apple still makes the Plus Max Ultra Supreme phone and it sells really well. So we aren’t maniacs trying to hold on to something that’s long been cancelled and is not coming back.

I am considering testing and buying a refurbed Samsung Flip.

It would be to close the circle - I came from a Samsung when Steve won me over ❤️
Maybe time to go back, at least until Crook is gone and hopefully someone new will care about customers.

I went from a 12 mini to a 16 and now a 17 (a family member got my 16, as they needed an upgrade).

The 17 will be a really nice upgrade from the mini and I think you'll get used to the size quicker than you think.

Here are some (not all) of the rather notable upgrades from the 13 mini:
  • 6.3‑inch ProMotion Display - The experience is super silky smooth. It's hard to go back once you have this. The screen size is perfect.
  • 256GB internal storage as standard
  • A huge increase in Battery Life - I usually get 2 days out of my iPhone 17
  • A19 Chip - I have never experienced the 17 slow down in any situation.
  • Apple Intelligence - This is a big deal.
    • Writing Tools
    • Live Translation
    • Notification Summaries, for email, texts, etc.
    • Phone Call screening (for unknown phone numbers, siri can ask a person who is calling and you get a summary before you need to answer the phone)
    • etc. etc.
  • 48MP cameras
    • Next-generation portraits with Focus and Depth Control
    • Macro photography
    • 2x zoom options
    • Cinematic video
    • etc. etc.
  • 18MP Center Stage front camera
  • Emergency SOS via satellite
  • Dynamic island
My 13mini already has those call screening features + cinematic vid + notification summaries. The only reason i will switch is bc my battery was defective from early on (my bad for not addressing w/in warranty period), so it won’t hold a charge consistently, have always dealt w performance issues…but the size really is hard to give up, so i hold on + ride it out. Would love to get 2 days of battery life, no glitches, AND a mini mobile

Why not just have a new battery put into your mini and have it restored? I recently replaced a worn battery in one of my 13 minis and after the battery replacement, it performs like a new iPhone again. Totally worth it.👍🏽
