The picture didn't quite turn out as I hoped, but the trail of ghostly feet moving toward the kissing couple made it surprisingly interesting. A bit of a happy little accident.

Thanks. It's quite suggestive, isn't it? I had to do a double-take, too, when I first saw the picture on a larger screen. You almost had me fooled that the steps were theirs, until I saw one of them had black shoes on.
Fantastic shot!
Great reviewing, thanks for your time and feedback, and again really great entries this week with deserved winners.
Just a note - it's the International Space Station (not that it should get me any extra votes) - airplanes are easy! And a single exposure hence the slight movement in the stars.
Looking forward to the next one
I hear the M9 is useless at night photography.Really!?!? you got the ISS that easily? - says the guy who couldnt shoot a barn door at night!
Wow. Night photography is another area I want to get better at.
Great work everyone and good feedback Ken.@Mark0 – OK, so we were off to a flying start. This image of waves crashing is a style of image I have been trying to get for a while and failing at. I love the way the motion is captured here whilst still maintaining texture of the water. Lovely.
@Apple fanboy – Lovely arc of movement in this. I am guessing this is in a woodland or other tree covered area. I like the colour scheme and the tonal contrasts.
@mollyc – Woah that shot makes me feel queezy! I hate those swing rides. Trying to work out the motion of it as the front seats are out of focus as is the crowd so I am guessing one of your youngsters is in one of the seats that are in focus. Great capture of the blur of the seat nearest the front but I feel it makes the image hard to look at and pick out the focus. Feel dizzy looking at it.
@Alexander.Of.Oz – Nice subtle lines of the cars passing by. I like the contrast of motion of the lines of cars going by compared to the slow moving bus and the resulting empty street behind.
@VIPmediastar – So typically I do not like the selective colour effect in an image but I have to say, in this image I like it. I think you have used it to good effect. I like how you have made the people passing by look like smoke or vapour, temporary, transient, brief flashes of colour. I also like that the sight on the left tells you what to do!
@Foogoofish – Nice night shot. I like night sky shots. Very difficult unless in a dark sky area. Looks to be a lot of light pollution in this one from a nearby town or other conurbation. Nice attempt and the trail from the aeroplane is a nice addition. Trying to decide if it is a single exposure or a composite as there is an arc of stars in the centre that could possibly be one star moving between a number a frames.
@deep diver – I like this one but the motion blur is minimal, it feels secondary to the image of the kicker as opposed to being the subject of the image. You can see the anticipation of the team at the line waiting to see if he makes the kick or not. Great capture of sports, nice and clear in tough lighting.
@Indydenny – Lovely cable cars. I love the San Francisco cars they are so ornate and beautiful. I like what you have tried to do here but feel the framing has cut it a little too much at the front and the glare from the street light is making it difficult to make out the beautiful details of the car itself.
@fitshaced – This one just makes me want to laugh out loud. It is motion blur but man it is funny! The guy in front has no clue he is being photobombed by the lady. One of those precious life moments we can all have a chuckle at. I bet she was gutted though poor thing.
@stillcrazyman - I like the colours and the framing here. Always a fan of a playful dog picture. Great capture of the motion of the dog but the black object to the left is a tad distracting.
@E3BK – Classic NY street intersection? Nice exposure, great detail and nice motion blur. There was no issue in posting a repeat entry. I personally like to try a new one each week, to go treat it as an assignment but I have run out of options in the past and posted archive pics before. If it fits the brief then it fits the brief whether a reuse or not. I like the motion blur but I am distracted by the street sign covering the N and O of Equinox and maybe would have timed it a little later to get more cars in the middle of the intersection. The gap between them gives a little too much space making it less about their motion if that makes sense? I miss NY, will miss me annual trip there this year. L
@uvafan1 – lovely night sky shot. Really like how you have got the light from the road and used it to good effect here. Very nicely done.
@someoldguy – Ah! Going for the judges heart. I spent a while looking at this movement. Tell us more maybe about the watch. Mid to early 70s? very 1974 style case design. Nice shot of the manual movement but not much blur.
@Janichsan – Wow! What a unique effect. That has worked out fantastically well! I really like the way that has come out and yes a happy little accident.
OK, so on to the important bit. Here are my much agonised podium standings.

Over to you @Mark0, I felt that the images were impressive overall but this one I could see on my wall and so it clinched it for me.
Thank you everyone for making an effort to post this week.
I hear the M9 is useless at night photography.
You'll need to get an M10 first.

Great work everyone and good feedback Ken.
You are indeed right that this was shot in the woods. Wasn't planned either!
Really!?!? you got the ISS that easily? - says the guy who couldnt shoot a barn door at night!

It was actually kind of the best birthday ever - we planned our evening to watch the ISS go over (read that as: "so I could get a long exposure shot") before heading out to watch the first of the new Star Wars at the cinema. Talk about nerding out for the day and getting back to that childhood feeling!!
You don't need an M10 , just get a Noctilux .I have a selection of alternatives to the M9 for night shots.... but alas no M10... Thx on feedback.

Anyway , the watch in my entry is ,as you guessed , from somewhere around 1975 ... made by Vulcain , who are still in business . I'm the original owner , still keeps good time , though it could certainly use a cleaning/lube by now. It's not my daily driver , hasn't been for years . The picture is the result of an exercise in frustration . There's all sorts of motion going on that's visible . Much more than in my Omega's , but it's all happening at different speeds , and there's no single exposure I could find that would capture motion blur on more than 1 component . Pretty much wasted last Sunday morning on it .
And here. Saw the last 2 at midnight on opening night. Same in December.I am excted to the max about December... Star Wars nerd here too
You have an Nikon 810A? Good choice!I have a selection of alternatives to the M9 for night shots.... but alas no M10... Thx on feedback.

Nope , no Noctilux . I had a chance to (very briefly) play with a used one in my local shop right after I got my M9 . The guy in the shop said "Try it out , you don't want it" . He was right . No depth of field at all wide open ... the shot's right or it's trash . Plus it's heavy . Almost never use 50mm anyway so I had no remorse about passing on it. Got a CV 50 1.5 LTM and a Summarit for when I do.
Yay! My first podium position! Not bad for an unintended result.

Congratulations to VIPmediastar and Mark0. Both your pictures are fantastic.

It's really just a single shot with comparatively little editing, but with a fairly long exposure of 10 seconds. It seems I have hit some kind of sweet spot there, so that the passers-by almost completely vanish, while only the body parts that stand still for the better part of a second – their feet – remain visible. I guess the perspective with this relatively steep viewing angle also played a role.Your image is really cool... how did that effect happen? Did you have a number of images and stack them ?
Thank you all for the feedback and kind words. Thanks to Kenoh for taking the time to judge and provide his thoughts.
As for my image, it was taken a few months back and I only worked on it last week just before the contest was announced. I'm really pleased with it - so much so, that I have decided to feature it in my upcoming exhibition in September. I can't wait to see it framed!
Anyway, I'm going to put up the new comp just now.
