I propose @Scepticalscribe judge this one!
[automerge]1591104507[/automerge]

68030 is your user title. Not sure about the L?
ohhhh...I thought you were assigning values to the letters in everyone's user name. I'm not sure where you see the numbered user name off hand but I get it now. ?

UGH ..... iI wake up to THIS!!!??? Well , let's give @dmb8021 until midnight GMT to appear , just incase he's got a cheap , unreliable calendar . If he doesn't materialize , then as per the rules ,I guess it's my problem .( Unless the masses desire a coup and enthrone either @mollyc or @Scepticalscribe ):D
I definitely don't have a desire to judge and also like the idea of @Scepticalscribe judging! She always has such thoughtful reviews. ?

But I suppose we should stick to our own rules and have you, as #2, judge.

I'm making popcorn and am enjoying this.

What just one simple question can do...

However, I would be more than happy to elaborate a little on why I like some of the entries, should you wish.
Your elucidations are always welcome. The opportunity to understand the reactions elicited from others by an image one creates is for me always a pleasure and a learning experience that adds greatly to my photographic journey.

I'd be both happy and honoured to judge this week's competition (as I must say that I really like the topic) should the OP not reappear, and/or - also - should the person placed second the previous week prefer not to, or is unable to, or chooses not to judge this week.

However, before I do so, I would prefer that everyone here - the stalwarts and those people who have submitted entries - are happy with that.

Okay: If everyone is fine with that, I shall revert in a few hours with comments, observations, thoughts and results.

In a way, this reminds me of my days when I was an academic, busy grading student essays or term papers (which also happened this time of year); while the actual grade was always important, as a student, I had always wanted to know why it was awarded, and thus, as a teacher, I would always add comments and explanations, and possible pointers.

Seconded @Scepticalscribe if willing - she has a lot of photographic experience and also has not entered the competition.
Plus I hope the eventual judge is able to look past the inadvertent 'likes' that I've just discovered on my entry ;)

Cheers :)

I'm good with this.

or a high hat, at the very least, so we can spot them in a crowd

This is an international forum. If the judge disappears we might have to get Interpol involved. Does anyone here know anyone there?

Good grief! Such a predicament here! Yes, I think it would be kind of cool to have Scepticalscribe do the judging this time, assuming that the OP doesn't reappear before midnight GMT and post his thoughts. Or, SS could go ahead and judge it anyway and when the OP returns he can also offer what he had been thinking as well..... That way we'd get two perspectives! :)

Yep I agree too.

People's lives and/or careers don't depend upon the decisions made here, either, we all just enjoy participating in the competitions when we have time and/or have a suitable image in our archives..... Probably the most noticeable impact here with this delay is it throwing the familiar schedule off-kilter somewhat, and even that is not a major issue. We'll all survive and move on, not to mention keep shooting, regardless....

Sorry for the delay. I've been away so I haven't had a chance to review the entries posted. Really great entries, so let's get to it:

@deep diver I'm guessing this is a seagull? I like the black and white image. I can hear the bird swooping by as well as the waves in the background

@oblomow I like the DOF on this photo. Do you play the violin?

@Hughmac what kind of bird is that? Seen a fair share of birds that look like they are yelling at someone or something

@tizeye I like the passion in the subject's face and you can tell how into the song (I assume he's singing and not giving a speech) he is

@Lee_Bo Nice S&G reference. Great colors in the sky. It's wonderful how peaceful sunsets can be.

@Clix Pix These look extremely uncomfortable (Bone Anchored doesn't sound pleasant). Was this taken with a macro lens?

@cupcakes2000 Is this a violin bow? I like how her eyes were framed between the parts of the bow.

@imac wannabe Never been to a NASCAR or F1 race so I guess I really don't know just how loud these cars are in person

@uvafan1 music and roller coasters, definitely two distinct sounds

@akash.nu This photo looks like it was taken in the 60's or 70's and she has an interesting expression on her face. A timely photo with what is going on in the states this past week.

@Alexander.Of.Oz I love the lighting in this photo as well as the vibration of the E string

@Apple fanboy Nicely exposed photo in what looks like tough light to shoot. Can't imagine being on the runway as these planes are taking off.

@someoldguy I mentioned this on another instrument photo, but I like the use of DOF for the piano and the composition

@mollyc A really nice moment captured between (I'm assuming) siblings

@Janichsan even though it's the same idea as another entry, it's still completely different. I like that this was taken straight on so you can clearly see all of the different elements of the electric guitar.

@mackmgg There's a certain sound you can hear when the snow is falling and there is nothing else around that's hard to explain, but I can hear it when I look at this photo. I like the snow flakes look in this picture.

@Indydenny You got really nice detail and I like the colors

3rd place - @akash.nu
2nd place - @Apple fanboy
1st place - @Alexander.Of.Oz

? Oops, I forgot... Congratulations to all that entered this round, the diversity of interpretation & quality of finish is always enjoyable to observe in these weekly challenges.

--------

Eek! I had failed to give a moments thought of the ensuing punishment gifted a victor of the weekly challenge. Thank you @dmb8021 for the honour/burden & for the commitment to see this through!

I hope that our discussions of mutiny were not insulting in any way & that you were away on holidays, enjoying yourself & achieving some momentary respite & rejuvenation; something much needed at this time of enforced clamping of movement for us all.

I shall have a quick think of a motif for the next round & share that after breakfast.

Here is an image of the behind the scenes of my simple shot for anyone that is interested. I had the LED panel facing us more golden for the reflections on the sound board (black part) & the other facing the E string more of a rich orange tone to bring out the colour of the strings. Not that those subtleties are shown in my quick phone capture of this BTS.

That is one well-worn E-M5!
