So, while thrifting through old archives and looking to save some space, I have come across some little gems I have shot which have been discarded in the first place for, well, for reasons. Evidently these photos are infested with exposure shortcomings, framing disasters and the sorts, they do however hold a hidden beauty.

Here's one example I was about to post in POTD but I firmly believe it has a place here

So, which one is your Amazing Failure?
  • Submit a photograph of your own making.
  • Blast us all away with your imagery.
  • The contest runs for a week, from now.
  • If I am still breathing (car accident, comet, lightning), I will adjudicate upon thee.
  • Contest winner has the right to either remain silent, or post the next theme of his choice.
  • Please update the Weekly Contest Master List when you start the next round.

Can I just link to my entire library?

Changed out my entry to one that is more obviously a failure.

Came down from climbing Conic Hill in Balamaha which over looks Loch Lomond. Jumped in relatively warm car from cold air, drove 2 miles to Milarrochy and brought camera back out to cold air. Lens fogged up but I kind of like the glow.

This is an interesting challenge. I usually delete my dislikes fairly quickly, but I am sure there are some hidden gems in my library somewhere.

If not, I'm sure I can easily shoot something bad. :D

Not sure if this qualifies... I used to be an avid photographer back in the day so this humming bird flew in and sat on a chain fairly close to where I was shooting, so I slowly raised my Canon 40D and took a photo only to have the thing bolt soon as the flash fired - thought I missed it but it turned out to be a nice photo.

was trying to be humorous :(

Don't get me wrong. It was very funny. It also hit home with me because I was going to bow out for the same reason. Now you have forced my hand, but I think i have something.

Schull Run is a tributary to the Allegheny River at Emlenton, PA.

Everything about this was wrong.

I was on my way home after a working weekend out of state. I was tired and then got really irritable because of the particularly bad condition of the unpaved back woods roads I had to take to get to this spot. I shot this on manual and forgot to change the shutter speed when I stopped down the aperture, I put on too dark of an ND filter, and there is light bleed because I was too lazy to cover the eyepiece.

I played with this in PSE as an experiment to see how much I could bring out of a really bad image. I neither hoped for nor expected anything. The gold tones are from the sunlight coming through the viewfinder.

Taking a photo of illuminated, moving jelly fish in a dark room with your crappy kit lens (edit: and being on an early outing with my new D5300 shooting JPG ). I believe the Enterprise had to confront something similar-looking to this on multiple occasions.

A Star Trek reference? Who would have imagined that from you!

Not what I would call amazing but a shot the couple were really happy with. I was shooting a friend of a friends wedding for free for some practice with no comeback. In this shot I was using the overhanging trees as a frame but because I was shooting a burst of images, the flash didn't fire on this one. The resultant silhoutte while not intended turned out to be very effective and it is one of the images they hang on their wall to this day.
