A photo of a photo of a long and winding road...
Last day. Contest will be closed later today. So many fantastic entries. It will be impossible to find the best.
This week I think it went up a notch (well not mine!).Lol... I know I say it most weeks but wow! great entries and so so many to have to judge too... great turn out!
This week I think it went up a notch (well not mine!).
Nor mine... and glad I dont have to go through all of those and choose!
It will be very difficult to come to a fair judgement. As a first step I sort out pictures without an actual road. Not because they ain't good but they don't meet the theme and make it just a bit easier for me
To be fair to Ken, that's how the roads look in Scotland! It will be very difficult to come to a fair judgement. As a first step I sort out pictures without an actual road. Not because they ain't good but they don't meet the theme and make it just a bit easier for me

Alright guys, all roads allowed I judge purely on aesthetics and artistic value.
It's OK, I figured if I had to explain my "road" it was too much.Ohh noo. Please not. I back down. All roads allowed - even metaphorical ones !!!!

In theory the picture may have been taken with my 8x10. It was built between 1897 and 1903.Did you use that fancy pinhole camera for this shot as well?
This is a pic of the underground rail line of an abandoned gold mine 1000 feet underground near Cripple Creek, CO.

I love road photos but have very few in my own portfolio.
I have been known to strap my GoPro onto my bike, however. And while this is only a small portion of the road (trail), I assure you my kids whine enough while we are out there to match the longest road you guys might actually post.

A forest path on Itsukushima, off the coast of Hiroshima:
After Scotland & the Lake District, Cornwall is probably my most favourite place. A coastal walk never gets old.
A few years ago when I rode motorcycles.... I took this with a point and shoot on one stretch of road. While I was riding
Cleveland's street cars (light rail trains) ran until 1954. The tunnels for the part of the line running under the Cuyahoga River still exist. This is the utility/maintenance corridor that runs parallel to the tracks.
Yes. The Cuyahoga is THAT river that has burned about 5 or 6 times in Cleveland's history.

I love this theme and am very much enjoying looking at the submissions.
So many beautiful photos this week.
If you zoom in you can see the road!

A photo of a photo of a long and winding road...
I found a photo! I don't know it classes as long and winding, but steep and path-like maybe?
Anyway, better than sitting out, maybe?

Thanks you too! And thanks for the lovely coastal road! Who wouldn't want to travel along that road! Where is it?
all roads allowed. even disappearing roads?
Well done everyone. The pictures were such a good standard this week I nearly didn't bother to post!First I like to thank everyone for participating. I got the impression that this was a wonderful contest with just so many great entries. Picking the best is impossible.
I like to share some of my impressions while reviewing the pictures:
Very interesting picture in the context of what it shows! It is divided half with the rail road and the other half is the stone so everyone can understand the context.
As always a wonderful picture and a wonderful landscape. I used to travel a lot in the western USA and I like this area a lot.
Same as above. Great picture!
Great job in finding a long road! Also good color! Looks like it was taken in the 1970s...
Such a great shot! The road gives a lot of depth and the b/w adds a lot to the artistic value.
As usual one of the best pictures in the contest! In particular the suitcase. It adds a metamorphic level to the contest.
Ken - this is a wonderful placeholder. I really like this picture
Great picture! The stairs are adding a lot of depth.
I can imagine how wonderful it is to take a walk there. One of the pictures that inspire to visit the place.
Fantastic picture which shows that the camera doesn't matter! It is a very dynamic picture.
Very interesting to learn about the history there. The pictures looks very mysterious !
This is such a great picture of a winding road and also this is one of the pictures that wants me to be there.
A lovely landscape !
Truly a long way for you to go! Also on a sport level !
One of my favourites! Wonderful sunset
Great picture. The eye quickly focus on the motorbike and the road ahead.
I enjoyed a lot the picture you shared with us. I just like that landscape a lot.
That picture is very stylistic and artistic. The road is like painted in. Good balance between sky and road.
I see the road! I guess it is long and winding! I don't know where you took it but it looks a lot like the pictures I took while visiting Ireland.
But but - there is a road! Why did you even worry? Also the landscape looks great. One suggestion might be to look at GoPro Cameras. They even offer a mount that can be put on cars. I took some great timelapse while driving through Ireland in 2013. Anyhow I see you went to great length here to take I assume also a timelapse while driving so the road here is also the road for the photographer..
Very nice picture. If critique is welcome ( and I am very cautious because that didn't end well in a previous contest ) I would not put the horizon in the middle of the picture because the sky here doesn't have a lot to offer like fantastic clouds or sunset or birds or whatever interesting there might be in the sky. It is not entirely unemotional because there are some colors. The foreground is also not to much of a kicker so I would zoom in either to the right and make that road plus the lake behind the prominent features.
Maybe a bit like this:

One of my favourite pictures this week. Very fitting to autumn ! It has a lot of atmosphere.
So in the end I have to make a judgement even so its more then difficult if not outright impossible to pick the best shots with so many great ones.

#1 @robgendreau and in the end everyone who participated! Thanks to everyone and sorry that I had to pick. It was more difficult then ever.
Over to you @robgendreau ! Looking forward to the new contest.
