The group did also elect to adjust the rules. Not having the likes might make it even harder to judge.

I'm delighted the "likes" have been removed, and I'm even more pleased that everyone has actually adhered to the request to refrain from clicking on that "like" button for the duration of the contest.

However, and however: I won't deny - even though I detest it - that I had to restrain myself once or twice (or thrice) this week from reaching for that "like" button, because the level of entries have been so good.

Well....some of us refrained after we were reprimanded in an offhand manner. 😂

Amazeballs for a contest, thanks for participating!

This was truly a difficult contest to adjudicate, not only in terms of amount of contestants and quality of work, but because I've also used a different approach by adding an important parameter: How could the photo be different. So putting some extra effort in investigating and applying the potentiality of some your photos, either applicable when making the photo, or in post production. Decisively something different to think about imo.

So winners have been selected accordingly.

1st place Watch the video :)
2nd place @Janichsan
3rd place @Indydenny

Honorable mentions
@Robotti, @Darmok N Jalad, @anotherscotsman

For some of you, you can find attached my dive into your photos. some are just simple edits, for others, more complex. It also explains graphically the placements

Sorry it took a while, but I really wanted to make something extra special for once for this contest, given that these weekly contests have really ushered my baby steps in photography, have given me something to think about creatively at times, on both sides of the contest, has been a point of inspiration, while it has been proven time and again to be populated by a supportive, inclusive community of pen-pals from across the globe, the likes of which I've never encountered before;

and I thank thee,

Patrick

Thank you for taking the time to reveal the judging in such an interesting way :)

I take on board your critique - you're right - my entry looks much better in mono.

Video best viewed at a slower speed ;)

Congrats to @tizeye and the other podiums.

Cheers :)

Hugh

Wow, thank you and congratulations to the runner's up. Wanna trade? :) (After seeing a proposed theme below, might want to trade as a defensive maneuver.) I do like the conversion you did in portrait format and B&W. Since 99% - and all real estate I do for others due to MLS web posting issues - are landscape, I just don't think of portrait orientation. It was a difficult and interesting topic as I searched through various file folders and remembered a geometric sculpture in front of the Dallas Museum of Art but as I was in the folder gravitated over to the memorial, initially drawn to the close-up (both quickly posted below could use additional editing - perspective control and removing people/objects). I gravitated to the broader overview due to the reflection of the geometric shape giving history in the photo which placed it in context. Actually, while it was posted day one, I thought of others during the contest and almost removed it.

It was a fun trip to Dallas only costing airfare. Wife had a conference where her company picked up other costs such as room and her meals. While she was stuck during the day attending the conference meetings...I just had to find other things to do. Poor me!

Will have to think about next week's topic and post later today as this one will be a difficult one to follow. With the themes over the past couple of weeks was thinking about a different approach. You know that photo you took that is so bad you can't bury it deep enough to never see the light of day...post it. I am not that diabolical so will come up with a different theme.

Thanks for judging , and taking time to do the video !Though I had to slow it down some to read the comments . Congrats to all who placed , plus the usual condolences to @tizeye for having to judge next weeks competition .

My image was taken in the Washington D.C. Metro last weekend at the Metro Center station . Just a 'grab shot' as I was crossing over from one track to another . Was hoping to get a nice motion blur on the departing train , but didn't have time to tinker around with slowing down exposure times .

Some terrific shots - and a great competition - and thoughtful judging, this week: I really liked @Indydenny's image, a beautifully taken and composed way of shooting buildings, and the lines, shapes, and warm colours were very striking - yet restful on the eye.

@someoldguy's shot reached for a somewhat similar colour palette, very successfully, in my view, and I liked how the lines were portrayed and how they invited the eye to follow them.

As always, I liked @mollyc's shot; for some reason, staircases shot that way - those stark lines (and that monochrome colour) - appeal to me. Re ceilings, I thought @anotherscotsman's shot superb, I loved it; @oblomow's arresting image was also very well taken.
