well i finally ordered a mac pro!

well i finally just did it. i stumbled on some money, and i just went for it. [maybe i should have, maybe i shouldn't have, but oh well, too late now]

here are the specs:

Two 2.66GHz Dual-Core Intel Xeon
** 1GB (2 x 512MB) *
** ATI Radeon X1900 XT 512MB (2 x dual-link DVI) *
** 250GB 7200-rpm Serial ATA 3Gb/s *
** One 16x SuperDrive *

Geez, whenever I stumble I end up with black & blues on my shins. :p

Awesome computer, why doubt your purchase? The only difference i would have personally made is to add more ram in the machine. Depending on what you plan on using it for.

i only doubt b/c it's a lot of money.

yeah, i was debating on adding another GB of ram, but decided to just wait on that

this is my first pro desktop from apple. i can't wait

try and get more ram. i got mine with 2gb initially but had to go to 4gb after a couple of weeks

Congrats! I got the same machine except more RAM and less graphics card :). Enjoy your Mac Pro - it is an awesome beast!

thanks. i'm sure i'll love it. just the long wait to get it.....

yeah, i decided to go ahead with the video card, and buy more ram later

I just ordered mine yesterday, the same machine but I got 2GB of RAM and a 500GB HD instead of the 250. I also got Applecare with mine, since i had a problem with my powerbook and got burnt. Just like you, this is my first pro desktop and I can't wait. We should compare ship dates, right now my order says the following:

Estimated Shipped By: 10/6/2006 (I really hope it is sooner)
Estimated Delivered By: 10/11/2006 (I paid for 2 day shipping, so I'm really hoping to get it by the end of this week)

Did you order a monitor or speakers?

hey. no i didn't order a monitor or speakers. i already have both. i have a 20" widescreen dell monitor. and i have a good set of speakers

did you order a monitor and speakers?

looks like you'll probably get yours before i get mine:eek:

I ordered a dell 2407, I already have a gateway 21inch LCD (1680x1050), so I'm going to run a dual display. I ordered some good DVI cables (at least I think, does anyone know good DVI Cables :)), so I should be good to go. In addition I ordered the JBL Creature II (Aluminum) from Buy.com, so I should get everything in the next couple of weeks.

I'm very excited :).

Both of you guys are getting great Macs, you're going to love them. :)

It'd good to see the shipdates getting under control, I ordered August 19th and didn't receive mine until the 11th of September. The 4 days is the latest it will ship, it will probably ship sooner. :)

It is never too late to pull out ...

Heck, just ask the guys that pull out and run when the Home Pregnancy Test is positive.

well i hope your right in that it ships before the 4 days. it said 2-4 days, so hopefully 2 :)

you'll love it...

go get some extra ram... new egg has some good prices... while waiting on my 3gigs i only had the 1gig. It felt like a great machine, but once i got the 3gigs it really changed my opinion... it is now just a screamer, period. I can't wait until all my wokr apps (photoshop, illustrator, flash, etc) are universal.. I mean, it's truly a great machine. most satisfying experience I think i have ever had form apple so far.

I finally ordered a Mac Pro on Sunday night after several months of consideration. I decided on the following config and will upgrade the memory afterwards and put in my own HDs.

1GB 667 DDR2 FB DIMM ECC-2x512
