Google is lacking some software support for their tablet and it seem they are just now according to Gizmodo negotiating with developers for tablet applications. That is no advantage at all since Apple has all application tested for years and years.

You guys may not like the source of the article, but the points raised are valid. I agree with many of them and they're the main reason why I'm not jumping to buy an iPad at this point. Some of you guys need to take your blinders off.

The only valid point really is no multitasking. And that is basically a moot point due to whatever Apple is bringing with the undoubtedly soon to be announced 4.0 software.

The point is without Apple the tech world would be really boring. Where would the portable music world be without the iPod. Where would the mobile phone world be without the iPhone. They push the envelope to develop products we don't even know we need. The iPad will evolve just as the iPod and iPhone have. Everyday people are using iPads in ways nobody could have imagined. New generations of the iPad will evolve to do more and better things faster. Apple leads the charge. Don't bet against them. You'll lose!

I've been saying that since the first couple iPods :)

Some good thoughts in your comments, but personally my money is on google. They are on all US carriers, and are catching up to Apple quickly due to that. Apple cripples themselves by being on one US carrier. It will be interesting when some android tablets come out at a price point $150 less than the iPad. yes we live in interesting times.

The point is that Apple is revolutionizing these technologies. Whatever tablets anyone comes out with now will be sold as an "iPad killer" just like after the iPhone. Besides BlackBerries I guess, there were no smartphones before the iPhone. Before the Apple app store, there were no apps. And before the iPad, there were no decent tablets. Apple is setting the standard in everything, a standard that isn't usually matched by anyone else (although the Droid phones do deserve some praise). Apple sees where things are going, and they're working on it. Everyone else waits until Apple does something crazy-smart and then they follow.

Ive actually got both..well I got rid of my ipad wifi to get a 3g version.

Try Chrome on a netbook and report back. Itll wax iPad safari. Thanks for playing

While Chrome on a netbook may cache pages better and run flash it does not make it 'better'. In my opinion the momentum scrolling, touchscreen interface, and easier to move around form factor much outweigh the advantages presented by a netbook.

Not to mention the fact that the iPad is 'always on' while the netbook has to wake from sleep and then connect to wifi (Which on my Acer A1 can take around a minute which isn't long, but it is long enough to discourage its use.) Also the iPad can view the web in portrait which I find to be better for most websites.

There are definitely disappointments in iPad safari (No html file upload, caching issues, can't download some file types - Why can't I save a .txt into GoodReader?) All of these are software issues though so assuming Apple does something about these I still prefer the iPad form factor.

Previous postings were stating that the iPad was faster surfing than a netbook. I was stating that was incorrect. Your statements about surfing on a iPad are deadon, and I agree 100% that the factors you mention are indeed the beauty of the iPad, especially the instant-on and portrait mode. The web experience is better but not faster on the iPad. In some cases a netbook may be preferable, but most cases the iPad lounging on the couch will win.

Thanks for this post, because it shows how wrong you are. Before the iPhone there were Windows Mobile phones, Symbian Phones and Palm phones. All smart devices. In fact iphones GUI was essentially ripped off from Palm. Oh and guess what? They freakin had apps. I give Apple credit (and discredit) for the app store, but your statements are ludicrous. Symbian OS outsold iphones 3-1 last year according to wikipedia and Rim sold more as well http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Smartphone . I prefer WinMo phones (Pre Win7 it looks like) to iPhones due to HiRes screens (looks like Apple will be following their lead next gen), and multitasking (Oh looks like Apple will be following again), not to mention I can run whatever app i want without jailbreaking. Its a give and take. Apple has been good for the phone industry, because they forced the other OS makers to innovate or be left behind.

pisses me off to

written by someone who has never lived with one. Really who cares what they say, we know what we have/love,we are in on the ground floor and don't care.
Oh and to all the nay sayers who BELIEVED it wouldn't sell,
Have you seen the stock?????????
I bought in at $69.54/ share, and right now I am laughing all the way to the bank. When the next behind the times i-Phone HD comes out, and sells bazillions, and the stock goes to $360/share, I'll send a card from a beach in Belize!!:cool:really:cool::p:apple:
