It's also not very different from what we have now for TV. I already have HBO Now on Apple TV. The only difference is that it's now going to be within the TV App. That's not a massive change. Some apps still won't be in the TV App, like Netflix, so it will still be a mixed bag. But I can already subscribe through Apple now.

As for TV+, I don't know, I really doubt I'd sign up for that. What if Disney comes with all their content (100 times more) for the same price? Notice also how Disney was absent in the "Kids" section... it was a bit painful...

This will also not at all solve their India/China problem. Which new hardware (cheaper phones anyone?) could have done.

I saw the Apple Event today and it was boring to the point of me getting disgusted with Apple. Maybe the best part was availability of live DTH like channels in the new Apple TV app and coming to macOS.

I zoned out.... which i almost never do during an Apple event... I had to find something else to do when those "Apple TV stories" came to stage.. as that was the most boring thing i found.

Oprah?

Getting ready to switch teams.

That surprised me too, Apple got her

One persons boring is another persons excitement. That's why there are millions of website and things to view and read.
[doublepost=1553808388][/doublepost]
Timmy seems to have completely run out of ideas at this point. iPhone is starting to sputter and he has nothing innovative to replace it.

Hilarious. I mean, seriously; that's funny.
[doublepost=1553809275][/doublepost]
Not that I disagree. That said, even though I have no use for any of the "products" announced today, I believe those services will generate quite some revenue, probably more than the Mac division, pretty soon. What might be even more reason for Apple to disregard the computer market in the (near) future.

I wonder why they even bother to sell computers any more, it seems nothing but an annoyance for Mr. Cook and his lieutenants

Funny. I just bought a new Apple Computer. The 2018 Mac mini. Incredible machine, great experience with the purchase of it and the other gadgets I bought with it. It certainly didn't seem like an annoyance for anyone involved. Mr. Cook is an incredibly successful CEO. He can concentrate on a great many things at once. I wonder why you bother to come to this forum any more. It seems like an annoyance for you. The answers you seek lie within.

The new Mac Mini is a great machine, yes. Albeit its price is ridicious, in particular when CPU/SSD is upgraded the price is about twice (or more) its value. I also fail to see what exactly gets you exited. Its the same old design. Non-upgradeable SSD. RAM upgrade made extra difficult. I wonder what took them years to create. Did they finally grant their "senior computer engineering apprentice" to do the upgrade?

Mr. Cook may be successful - yet, I should say - looking solely at revenue. When it comes to products/innovation he's a total and utter fail. These days even HP is more innovative compared to Apple. Apple sells vastly overpriced, often outdated, boring, devices with questionable reliability.
Newest innovation is - subscription services. Credit cards. Yaaaawn....

What company do you run? What products have you created? Why are you here?

Oh, and I won't be reading your reply. It's uninformed at best and, frankly more boring than anything apple has ever done.

Have a nice day and enjoy your exciting HP products. In fact, I think there is an HP forum right now the road.

In all honesty... what’s being introduced and would you miss it if it wasn’t? The new hardware the previous week were just incremental updates every company should make yearly to stay relevant in technology. No design effort needed for that.

I’m really curious on what’s going on at Apple even the fact that it is transforming away from my needs I can’t see any benefits they’re bringing to market what isn’t already there in a better form from competitors.

IMO they need one innovation badly and that is to get rid of the clueless clown and get a real visionary leader who has a passion for technology. They need it sooner than later.

Ah, eloquence... why do you even bother? You know literally nothing about me. You have nothing substantial to say - where exactly is your argumentation? Very revealing indeed.

All you do is insulting people just because they do not share your fanboy-ish opinion.
Sorry, you are not the guy to judge me or whose insults touch me even peripheral. Nice day to you...

Btw: yes, I run a company. Not even close as big as Apple. But at least its mine

I did not waste my time to watch the event, but for Apple it was quite an important step: A major strategic shift to services in a response to declining revenues from hardware sales, in particular the iPhone due to saturating markets (just raising prices will not work to account for slowing sales, on the contrary)

It will be interesting to see what kind of impact apple's effort will have on Netflix, Amazon & Co

Still, revenues from services will only be as good as the installed user base paying for the hardware they are linked to

So, hardware sales will still play a role in numbers and as revenues from services grow I expect Apple to introduce more lower priced hardware solutions in an attempt to allow more people access to the services they aim to sell

innovation in hardware is in the past, the future for apple is in services

from my point of view that event was one of the most important events Apple held in the last years

Everyone was forced to say “We are really excited to announe this/that”. But clearly everyone was faking their enthusiasm. Apple staff placed at strategic location in the theatre was giving the applause like Dolby Atmos effect. Maybe few were clapping from ceiling as well.

Rest was just boring. Where is macPro?

Apple seems to lose track more and more; i waited 4 years for the new mini but meanwhile i think to keep the 2014 3.0 and see further the day he dies ... i have a 2018 iPad/32, the SE/64 and i'm not willing to spend further money for the brand. The whole event has become a lousy theater on fairly unnecessary stuff which exploit Chinese worker and waste down resources. I'm done with Apple!

You should be done with apple..unless apple gets on track. It’s all service now.

Totally, there are no desktops, laptops, phones, tablets, watches, media devices, OS's, or anything like that that Apple makes anymore. None at all.

At least it is questionable if they want to sell computers any more.

Non-updates (you can find the top of the line Mac Pro - still sold (!!) - on the pages of pre-history), quality - issues, prices beyond sanity. Sure looks like they'd rather have customers NOT buy Macs as they take every possible measure to drive customers away.

I can only speak for myself. But when’s I heard Apple credit card - I am hearing echoes from the past - like when Sears diverged it’s attention into financials - starting a credit card, insurance company and a broker; how GE focused on random things like mortgages and CDO’s...
Oh yeah good point. It’s like they’re swinging for the fences. Tesla seems to be the company that’s pushing the envelope of tech. Not apple or Samsung it google.

Yeah, it's not like Apple just brought a whole ECG machine with continuous heart monitor into something that people have been used to wearing on their wrists for decades and decades.

Hm. A watch that not even lasts 2 days on a charge. Looks like a 30 bucks accessory. Costs more than 10x that, and those are the cheap ones. Lifetime maybe 3, 4 years 'till obsoleted. Is barely usable without an iPhone.
Suuure, very obvious this thing will make a dent into the Universe.

Seriously, I don't get it. They could easily triple their computer sales without much effort. Would for sure miniscule AW revenues.

Its just.. they don't seem to want to. They totally lost interest in computers, seem to not want to be bothered with that legacy stuff

When has a suped up powerpoint or prezzi presentation ever been life changing or engaging? You have people pacing back and forth on a stage with a large screen walking you thru screen shots and video clips of software and apps. Where you expecting Blue Man Group or Daft Punk?

None of that negates or changes a rather great leap in technology that was probably barely even imagined before. They might not do things to someone's liking, but that doesn't mean that there aren't innovation and advances happening.

Considering Apples heritage and size its not unfair to say that innovating activities have come close to a stall

I have been censured on MR for conversations like this so I will be careful.

Use of cloud - zero
Use of TV - zero
Use of iTune - minimal
Subscription services of any kind - zero
Interest in USA cell companies - zero
Interest in USA TV/radio/most modern music - minimal
Interest in socialising creativity etc.. - zero

Result did not watch the show.

This does not make me suddenly 'anti Apple' - just that part of the company is of little or no interest or use to me.

The quiet upgrades were good though and my upgrades seem a little more likely because of them - end of.

Ya subscription model where you choose might be interesting. I’ll have to play with it. I seriously only would watch like 8 channels but it has to be inexpensive enough to not warrant going to a slingtv vs apple service. I’d love an add supported $2 per channel model but I doubt that would fly.
