I hate more than anything else how ignorant mac-hating PC-users (not your regular, macs-are-okay trapped with PC users -let's not get confused :p) keep going on and on about not being able to upgrade and swap everything, not having 16.175 USB ports, saying the iMacs G3s are boat anchors and saying task manager ( ) is better than "clover leaf, period, space bar", then complaining that macs don't have games.
Phew, that feels better  :p

yea your right. I get all the time. But i shut them up when I play Unreal Tournament 2004 running Frag Ops. They are like omg is that a TiBook running UT2k4? It gets better when I use a AlBook to shut them up. And the best part is when your the only laptop still on the in the bus full of students! :D

1. Battery life on 22 mth old powerbook
2. 80 GB hard drive is getting too small (even with all music, photos and videos on an external drive)

The fact that no matter how well I treat it, how long I leave it unsupervised, it won't turn into a MacBook Pro.

It won't even split into an iMac and iBook. It just sits there being an iBook the whole time.

Lazy bloody thing......:D

1. I hate people touching my screen

2. Having unused and unnecessary apps installed on my HDD

3. Any kind of grubbiness on my Powerbook

4. My desktop must having nothing on it.

I don't want to be get off topic but I have a couple questions regarding a clean desktop. How do you remove the HD symbol? Also when I put a .dmg file into the trashcan it will never delete it?

By the way I hate when people touch my computer, and when I go to turn off itunes it says that people are currently viewing my library (I know I can fix that by not sharing, but that just seems mean).

Click on the desktop, hit the Finder menu, then hit preferences. There you go, just untick some boxes and have a perfectly clean desktop.

On the DMG issue, make sure you have ejected the folder that a DMG creates when extracted. Do this in the FInder sidebar.

You haven't been treating yourself to a drink have you, Chundles ;) :D

A drink is not a treat, it's an essential.

A treat would be a Bailey's on the rocks rather than just a beer.

My biggest peeve is the amount of dust my G5 PowerMac sucks in. I'd left the G5 running while I was out for the day downloading some TV, and when I returned home, one of its fans was making a terrible buzzing noise. I shut it down, and started estimating just how badly Apple Australia would screw me over to get whatever the problem was fixed (no more AppleCare left on the PowerMac).

After a week or so my other testicle dropped, and I decided to bust that bad boy open and see if I could locate the source of the buzzing. After isolating each of the main case fans (stick a pencil into each one while spinning to see if the buzzing disappeared :D ), I finally narrowed it down to the power supply. I found some instructions on the net for removing the power supply from a G5 PowerMac, and about 40 minutes later (and just about every component from the G5 bar the motherboard and CPU lying on the floor), I managed to get the power supply out of the case.

The amount of dust lodged in the pair of power supply cooling fans was astounding. I'm talking like a handful of thick, brown dust. It took me about 15 minutes of cleaning to get most of the dust out of the power supply, and about another 20 minutes to get the PowerMac screwed back together. Thankfully it booted up fine and has been running great ever since, minus the awful fan buzzing noise.

So yeah...my pet peeve is Apple not thinking about the longer-term implications of their fancy-pants cooling system.

100gb is to small to really hold all my digi pics and my 250gb external is on loan to the parents for them to publish a book...

this notebook doesn't have a del key and that is VERY VERY frustrating...

tabbing in firefox skips drop down menus when filling out a form...

thats what i got off the top of my head...

I hate the way its a struggle to batch rename - when its so so so easy on a windows machine

Out of interest, how do you do it with Windows? I've always used the command prompt.

Select all the items you want to change (normally ctrl+a) and then change the first one and its changed the rest but renames them like this

trip to the zoo
trip to the zoo (1)
trip to the zoo (2)
trip to the zoo (3)

Much easier :)

i don't know whether safari has this feature, but in firefox you can have it warn you when you attempt to either close a window with multiple tabs, or quit the application when multiple tabs are open.
Yes there is a plugin called Taboo that does this.

My biggest peeve with my 12" PowerBook is that it doesn't have a backlit keyboard like the 15" and 17" models :(

Biggest annoyance with my iMac is the fan noise.

powerbook

one thing that really pisses me off is the tiny little ding in the lid, i remember exactly how i got it and every time i close it it alwasy shudder when i see it...

sans for that, i just hate people telling me i should not have gotten an apple...
what do they know!!!

Do you know about enabling the scripts menu in OS X? If you do that, you'll have easy access to a bunch of batch renaming scripts that work with the Finder. They're builtin too, not something you have to download.

Touching the LCD screen has to be the biggest one that irritates me. Especially when the push is on my Powerbook screen to the point where the display moves a bit because of the force.

When I "touch" a screen (if I really have to) I simply rotate my finger around so my fingernail only touches the screen (and lightly at that). How damn ignorant can someone be? It amazes me.

I hate it when my son doesn't log out of his account after playing WoW, and when he leaves CDs/DVDs in the combo drive

I hate the fact that my battery's down to a 1.5 hour charge after 1.5 years of ownership, and that replacement batteries cost $129!

I think that's about it for now.

I can't stand the dock shadow.

Download Unsanity APE and Cleardock from Versiontracker.

No more dock shadow and application ON arrows in any color you desire
to show up against your desktop background.

does this exercise not have to be repeated, when an os update is available?

I just finished a 30 hour shift. Sitting down for a cup of coffee in the last few hours, I opened up my laptop to browse the news, etc, drinking my coffee and all. And then, I drooled on my trackpad. That is a first. And it brought out all of my obsessive compulsiveness. I wipe as I type. Sigh.

Powerbook G4 1.25GHz

1. The dirty looks I get when I smack fingers reaching for my screen :p
2. That I had to purchase an iLap, notebook stand to keep my pb from overheating.
3. That it gets really hot anyway.
4. That I'm on my fourth screen (1. white spots, 2. more white spots, 3. didn't latch anymore, 4. I don't know why they replaced it this time, the RAM didn't work...).
