Gone old fashion.... The Beatles's Revolver.

A fantastic album.

Actually, I still remember the day I bought it - in the form of a LP, (for, of course, CDs hadn't been invented at that time, and wouldn't be, for the best part of a further decade) - jointly, with my brother, - costs meticulously shared between us - on a crisp autumn day, oh, many moons ago.

Three CDs arrived in the post this morning - yes, I'm old school, I like my music in a manifestly physical form - and all three are by Allah-Las. Looking forward to listening to them later tonight.

And now, the third CD by Allah-Las that came in that lovely parcel which arrived today is being played. This is called "Calico Review" and is extremely good.

If you like music that is kind of reminiscent of The Kinks, The Hollies, The Yardbirds, shot through with music that evokes memories of the wonderful Arthur Lee (and Love), along with touches of what is termed lo-fi funk, and a little Northern Soul, this is stuff you may well like.

Somehow I came across / dug up the old Star Wars radio dramas from the 80s and am having a blast! :D Really well done (cast+sfx) and lots of additional content further fleshing out the story.

Actually, I have a double LP set of "The Hitchiker's Guide to the Galaxy" - the original series; I might try to unearth it - it has been quite a while since I last played it.

Sounds great! I like listening to those old (radio) plays when in the metro or in the kitchen, extremely relaxing. I still listen to the old stuff of "Three Investigators" ;) on a rather regular basis (and know quite a lot of people who do) which were very popular in Germany - and actually much better than the original US version.

I do have Musil's Man Without Qualities and Proust's À la recherche du temps perdu as well which are, of course, way more demanding and unfortunately (well not really unfortunate given their quality) don't work as good as an intermediate entertainment - but for longer trips on train or so well worth the experience - although I do prefer reading them instead.

My sister-in-law - who is German - gave me a copy of that book (A Man Without Qualities by Robert Musil) one year at Christmas, for Christmas; other years, she gave me Steppenwolf, Narziss & Goldmund (which I thought excellent), and - my favourite of them all - Buddenbrooks.
