Have just listened to "Rubber Soul", and yes, it is every bit as good as recent memory suggested, - unfortunately, an under-rated album, - because it was over-shadowed by the albums that immediately followed - namely, Revolver, Sgt Pepper's and magisterial later work of the Beatles.

But, in terms of musical development, Rubber Soul is the turning point and a key pointer as to what was to come. Thank you, @JamesMike, for the timely reminder to pay Rubber Soul a return visit.

Don't quite know why - or how - I have graduated from Rubber Soul, Jethro Tull, and Steeleye Span, to The Moody Blues - specifically - their album - "In Search Of The Lost Chord"....but, I have....and, it is rather good...

Homesick....

Gosh, I'd forgotten how awesome Paul Di'Anno era Iron Maiden is...(the first two albums are the only Maiden I still listen to besides the post Di'Anno song The Trooper.)

and studio version...

I remember being annoyed when I finally got to see Maiden in 1982, Di'Anno was out of the band. :p Steve Harris was freaking awesome though.

wha...? bruce dickinson hasn't always been the lead singer?

I remember when barely teenaged me bought Mercyful Fate's debut e.p. at some cruddy record store and the shop owner tried to chew me out for wanting this (not only the subject matter, but the cover featured a topless girl about to be sacrificed.)

He said "You can't buy that!"

Me: "So why are you selling it?"

Him: "But...you..."

Me: "I guess you don't want to make money from me today, huh?"

I walked out with it...:D

lol.

there are moments, @Scepticalscribe & @Apple fanboy, when your musical tastes are sublime... then there are moments like now... :p

While I will not succumb to silly acronyms, I will admit to a quiet chuckle upon reading your post, @pachyderm.

Anyway, to be quite candid, I am not in a mood to explore Philip Glass just now; he is for those Dark Nights of the Soul......those times when you just need that sort of predictably morbid, musical companion.
