While the original song Fairytale of New York is fairly well-known in the United Kingdom and Ireland, that version is not that well-known here in the USA nowadays (because radio stations won't play it) not only for that nasty slur in the lyrics, but the distinctly "Irish downer" (in my terms) tone of the song. Indeed, The Pogues hasn't sang it with the original lyrics for over 20 years, if what I've read is correct.

But this version is actually surprisingly good. Travis Kelce's singing voice is actually quite clear and good, and Jason Kelce actually did a fantastic job with that gravely voice.

The "Professor of Rock" ewetube channel just reviewed Dire Straits' third album Making Movies, and I learned one of the 4 songs cut from the record was Twistin' by the Pool (rightly, as it didn't fit the rest of the album) but boy did it bring a smile to my face, got a few past bands to learn this and it always packed the dance floor. Enjoy!

I love that LP.

My fave of theirs by far.

Wow! I read your post, and out of curiosity went to YouTube to have a listen.....and was mesmerized, captivated, intrigued.... Instead of listening to only one or two tracks I found myself not wanting to stop, so just kept listening and listening...... It was a totally immersive experience.

Finally at the end of Season One and the beginning of Season Two I decided it was time to call a halt for the time being, but definitely will be returning to listen to the rest of the tracks that this composer has created. Evocative, brilliant music, something which keeps the listener just totally absorbed in it and wanting it to continue.....

Thank you, SS, for mentioning this composer and his work!

Mind-numbingly stupid, but I was an 80s kid. The first track is Phantom of the Opera meets Meatloaf. The rest is just Meatloaf with stringier guitars and buckets of camp.

I was in my late teen years when I saw this live video on ABC's version of SNL, "Fridays", of King Crimson performing "Elephant Talk". I was familiar with the band's name, but not their music.
I was completely stunned, never heard anything like that before. Was waiting in line (there was no line) outside the local record store the next morning at 8:45, to buy my vinyl copy of KC's "Discipline". That album changed me. I've been a rabid fan ever since.

Delighted that you like it.

Personally, I love this music, and it seems to me to be somewhat reminiscent of some of Yann Tiersen's music, as well as that of Alexandre Desplat, both of whom I also love.

Actually, Adrian (guitarist in the pink suit) was in Talking Heads during their Stop Making Sense tour. ;)

And even before then...as I recall, Belew began working with Talking Heads on Remain in Light. Plus Fripp is on Fear of Music (common thread: Brian Eno). Too bad Tina Weymouth never played a Stick, ha ha.

Ah, yes, I'm familiar with Yann Tiersen, but not so much Alexandre Desplat. Have to check the latter out! I also want to look and see if Apple offers Korzeniowski's wonderful soundtracks in the iTunes Store.

Alexandre Desplat has written the (original) music for many of the soundtracks of movies made by Wes Anderson.

His music appeals to me featuring, as it does, much use of minor keys, hinting at a slightly melancholic ambience, and a sensibility redolent of Mitteleuropa.

Again. Actually, I'm almost always listening to it. Sounds great through my speakers, too (before, I was just listening through headphones). Yesterday, I even blasted this song through my QSC K12.2, which was fun!
