If I remember correctly, the Immersion editions of Dark Side of the Moon, Wish You Were Here, and The Wall all contain 5.1 and Quad mixes on DVD and Blu-Ray. Further (again, if I am recalling this properly), the Early Years series has multi-track mixes on CDs and DVDs.

I don’t listen to surround mixes of music much because my home theater system is set up for movies and video games. This means to my ears, most music sounds better on my 2-channel audio setup (CDs and vinyl) or on high resolution streaming with headphones.

I know the DSOTM Immersion set does... so I would imagine the others do also. I haven't googled, but I know you are right. It is too depressing to look at these as the prices are pretty high on them. Would love to have them though!

I love listening to music in a surround format. Especially this one. However, the vast majority is done via my home theater and digital music files which I have been ripping over the last few years. Having everything at my finger tips has been a game changer.

These harmonies are amazing, I love this group!
Okay, I've obviously been listening to this nonstop for several days, and today just got around to transcribing it (well, as much as I can, at least). I can hear at least four different layers in their arrangements:
  1. The melody
  2. The underlying BASIC harmonic structure/chord progression - just the roots, fifths and such.
  3. The more complex harmonies apparently done by double-tracking/overdubbing on the existing basic arrangement
    1. The inner voices of the complex harmonies are vital to the arrangement
  4. Sometimes, #2 and #3 overlap with separate melodies (or one serves as a response to the other). You'll hear this at the very end of this particular track. Then all four converge.
Man, Gene Puerling was an absolute GENIUS!!!

In a coffee shop.
And - an even more heart-breaking - and haunting - yes, herewith another track also from the inimitable and extraordinarily gifted Israel Kamakawiowo'ole - his version of "Somewhere Over The Rainbow/What A Wonderful World".

I defy anyone to listen to this and not want to bawl their eyes out.....

Many, many moons ago, I was lucky enough to see Doug and his father Jim perform as a duo.

Listening to Bach's Mass in B Minor. Just noticed I have an mp3 of the complete recording. Always nice to have local files, especially of stuff as amazing as this!
Listened to the entire two-hour program twice now, it's stunning! Both Kyries (first and third movements) are certainly my favorite part.

EDIT: Found the score, since Baroque tuning is different than what we use today (and everything is a semitone down), I'm doing a lot of mental transposing to follow along! A4=440Hz didn't become the standard until the early 20th century.

My god, y'all need to listen to "The Windup" by Keith Jarrett. I still love "Chant of the Soil," but this is definitely my new favorite!
