Listening to the soundtrack from "The Mission," which I think you may like, @Scepticalscribe. I've never seen the film, but the soundtrack is beautiful!

Agreed: The soundtrack is superb, while the film (movie) itself is extremely good, a compelling drama, superbly acted by an outstanding cast.

Actually, around a decade ago, or a little less, I attended an excellent and unforgettable live concert given by Ennio Morricone, (and his orchestra) - as part of one of his last European tours; it was a combined birthday and Christmas gift from my brother who had ensured that I had an excellent seat.

OK, so having mentioned Glenn Miller and his band's wonderful "In the Mood," I thought it would be nice to share it, too:

Terrific choice, and music from a different era.

My father - who also loved classical music - passionately loved that sort of music, - easy jazz and classic jazz, - (and had several albums - LPs - by artists such as Glenn Miller, Louis Armstrong, and Ella Fitzgerald, among others, when I was growing up).

No, as it happens, I wasn't.

The movie thread is one I visit rarely.

However, more to the point, my musical preferences and choices aren't influenced by it, but, rather, are governed by my own moods, or, by something I may have read on this particular tread, or similar music threads.

Now, @Clix Pix's post, which reminds me both of Glenn Miller (and indeed, of my father who loved jazz), are a prompt to listen to some of this music that I haven't explored - let alone enjoyed, - in far too long.

The Beach Boys - Sunflower

An interesting 1970 album, the last one with full participation from Brian Wilson. It sold poorly upon release but is now viewed by many as the groups best post- Pet Sounds album.

I can also say, I was working on digitizing vinyl records earlier today, and came across three amazing "Best of Johnny Cash" albums. Forgot how much I love Johnny Cash.

Wonderful.

I had forgotten just how good this track is, - and I do remember my father (who loved music) dancing and swaying to it, in the kitchen, red wine or Scottish or Irish whiskey glass gently put aside for as long as the music played.
