Swift herself specifically said she wanted to do something more akin to 1989 or Reputation. It's not intellectually "heavy" as The Tortured Poets Department but I especially love the first three songs on the album. As such, I feel many critics are getting this album totally wrong because they're trying to compare the new album to the previous album.I liked it.
