I haven't been able to tolerate anything involving Gene Simmons after hearing this interview back when it was first broadcast:

Anyway, I've always liked the Replacements' version of "Black Diamond" better than the original...

A group I have listened to and watched since their beginning in 1979. A group I greatly enjoy. The 77's...

Yowsa, your post caused me to have a flashback.

I was pretty heavily involved in the indie music scene in the area where the 77's are from during the mid and late 80s. Somebody told me there was this band that didn't get talked about much yet was drawing big crowds—well, big crowds for the sort of groups that played clubs and dive bars anyway, we're not talking Taylor Swift here—and to check them out. So I went out to a gig.

Something felt unusual because instead of going to the seedy downtown or some restaurant's basement, getting to the show involved driving out to a suburban office park and finding a bland, recently constructed warehouse. I was immediately disoriented because the place wasn't falling apart and the bathrooms weren't filthy. Plus the people there all seemed so normal...not the usual ragtag collection of slackers, stoners, and aspiring musicians. And why can't I get a beer? What the heck???

After a couple of songs, it finally hit me: I was seeing a Christian rock band!!!
;-)
