I'm halfway through Clash of Kings, part of the Fire and Ice Series. It's still on a roll! (I'm a slow reader.) :)

Yes, I spent a lot of Christmas and early January reading the Ice & Fire series; Clash of Kings is very good and a Storm of Swords 1 & 2 are excellent.

Actually, I'll have to re-read the last two books, (and am not sure that I enjoyed the format employed) as I tore through them - but overall, as several had already recommended here on MR, a thoroughly enjoyably engrossing read. I must set aside some time for a more detailed re-read, this time to savour and ponder, rather than simply focus on the narrative.

This is the kind of story that I tend to slow down and savor. I know it's good when I start seeing it in my head as a movie. :)

Currently, it's Michael Crichton's "Andromeda Strain" and James Martin's "Between Heaven and Mirth: Why Joy, Humor, and Laughter Are at the Heart of the Spiritual Life."

Finished The Hunger Games triology recently. Was flirting with the idea of 1491 but opted for The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo next then I'll finish Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter before the movie comes out.

lovin them both...

I started Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, but have had a hard time getting past the first couple of chapters. Of what little I have read, Larson's [translated] writing style reminds me a bit of Robert Ludlum.

I am also reading Entreleadership by Dave Ramsey and God's Outragous Claims by Lee Strobel. I have 5 or 6 more books on the stand to be read or finished that I can't remember the titles and have put aside for one reason or another.

Strangely enough, although I love the books, I agree with you and also felt that the first fifty pages of the first book are the most boring and tedious of the entire trilogy. Stick with it. Once Lisbeth Salander makes her appearance, it just takes off, and gets better and better.

Potter series for the first time.

You are in for an absolute treat. However, I'd advise that you read them in the correct sequence.

I'm going through this exact thing with my 2 year old son now, as he's definitely a night owl.

So the book I am currently on: Go the **** to Sleep, by Adam Mansbach.

It's a children's book for adults, and definitely puts to words what parents think as they desperately try to put their children down for the night.

I'd say to buy the book, but also to get the audio book. It's read by Samuel L. Jackson, and the inflection in his narrating... well, if it doesn't make you laugh, you don't have a pulse. :D

BL.

Good Omens, Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy, Hounds of Baskerville, and loads of really good fanfiction.

I just finished Clash of Kings, the Second of the Fire and Ice Series. This book is amazing although there is so much going on, so many characters, it's all most hard to follow. Most likely I'll wait until the end of HBO's Season 2 Game of Thrones before I pick up the 3rd book.

My next reading assignment will most likely be Dead Reckoning , the 11th of the Sookie Stackhouse Vampire Series upon which True Blood is based.
