Finally broke down and bought book 4 of Kevin Anderson's "Saga of Seven Suns" series, "Scattered Suns". It's starting off very good. He's a master at crafting an engaging story and characters. Only 3 more books in this series to go. The suspense is killing me!
It's a really good SF series. I'm definitely an Anderson fan, (of this series and lots of his other works). I really liked the writing he did with Brian Herbert (son of Frank Herbert) on the expanded Dune series. He also did the book adaption of Rush's "Clockwork Angels" album. That was a really good book, (if you're a Rush fan) and it was very clear that he was also a fan, as well as a friend of Neil Peart's. It's very seldom that I've run across an author that I can say I've liked everything they've written! Anderson is one of them! That sounds interesting. I just downloaded a sample of book 1 to my kindle.
Finally we have another Shardlake...
Well, that wasn't what I was expecting. If you want a snappy historical whodunit then this probably isn't the best choice as the murder mystery is almost an afterthought to Sansom's desire to tell the story of Kett's rebellion in Norwich. However, I found it fascinating - I didn't know much about the rebellions in 1549 but what an interesting and pretty much hidden bit of history. Well worth reading.
Treasure Mountain by Louis L’Amour

I've just started "The Private Lives of the Tudors: Uncovering the Secrets of Britain's Greatest Dynasty"
Charles Dickens - The Chimes. Not read this one before and having a change from my annual reading of A Christmas Carol.
Just finished re-reading Gene Kranz's "Failure Is Not An Option", a great book by one of the most celebrated flight directors for NASA (mainly Mercury to Apollo - esp. during Apollo XIII's near miss).
I recently watched the movie Sunset Boulevard (1950) and impressed me so much that I think this will be my next book:
