I just finished listening to Tina Fey's Bossy Pants on Audiobook.

I have to say, I wasn't expecting much... It had been on my 'To Read' list for quite some time, but I don't usually like autobiographies much, so I never really got around to it.

I was wrong! So, so hilarious. I had to stop listening in public, because I couldn't control my laughter.

So if you're looking for a quick, fun read... or even just a good laugh. Give it a go.

I just finished SM Stirling's "In the Courts of the Crimson Kings". It's the second in a trilogy, but I don't think I've read the first book. I'll need to look the other two books up sometime.

Reminds me of "The King in Yellow", Robert William Chambers. Both book and audiobook free on iTunes. Fantastic and frightening stories.

Have you ever taken a look at Martin Cruz Smith's "Arkady Renko" series? The first three books, "Gorky Park", "Polar Star", and "Red Square" are all excellent. The fourth, "Havanna Bay" is less good, but not too bad. The fifth and sixth in the series "Wolves Eat Dogs" and "Stalin's Ghost" are a return to excellence. Avoid the seventh entirely. It just simply isn't up to the standard of the others.

"Child 44" by Tom Rob Smith. Early 50's, Stalin's Russia, a socialist paradise where crime has been abolished. So any police officer who thinks that children found dead are victims of some crime must be mad or an enemy of the state or both.

I recommend Carol Berg's excellent Rai-Kirah trilogy, "Transformation", "Revelation", and "Restoration".

It's been a few years since I read "Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep", but I recall it being very worthwhile. I was a big fan of "Bladerunner" first, but they did have to modify the story to work well on the big screen. For that matter, they kept playing with the movie which is why there's a version with a voice-over, and then at least two versions of the ending.

Apparantly the author is pro-people, anti-replicants, while the movie is pro-replicants, at least I read that some where.

Right now I am reading the first in the Honor Harrington novel series On Basilisk Station by David Weber. I listen to a podcast called Security Now, mostly about tech security, and the host always goes on about Sci-Fi books hes reading and this happens to be one of the series he is adament about, so...I tried it out, so far so good!

Every HH book as at least one Holy S... moment. I love it when combat engagements start a million clicks out.

As much as I loved those books, it took some doing to get through all five. After I finished I was expecting a pat on the back or something Fingers crossed that GRRM comes up with book 6 sometime soon.

I'm just reading through The Picture of Dorian Grey. It's a fairly easy read so far, though I'm taking my time through it seeing as I don't have another book lined up afterwards.

It didn't contain any real juicy or earthshaking info. I was prepared to put it down at the first wiff of being over the top Ramboish but to my pleasure it didn't happen.

I read it and thought it was a fascinating read. I recommend it as well as another Navy SEAL book called 'Lone Survivor'.

I thought Lone Survivor was a gripping and harrowing book. Not to Monday morning quarterback it, but we had already paid in blood for the lessons on how to conduct those types of operations only--it seems--to have many of them ignored.

Fascinating story on courage and valor. I'm grateful Luttrell made it home and my sympathies go out to the SEALs and Night Stalkers who didn't.

A perennial classic - gripping and haunting stuff.

On a related matter, whenever you get to visit Paris, the Cathedral of Notre Dame is a most impressive place - and is well worth a visit.

Started Cat's Cradle by Kurt Vonnegut last night. I'm 20% through it and not yet sure what to make of it.

You can get the first two novels free at Baen books. They have them available in many different formats. I have downloaded and read the first 3 books in the series from Baen and they have worked great on my Kindle Keyboard.
