I am currently reading the following on my Kindle 3:

I read the Sword of Shannara trilogy several years ago; the first few were a very good example of the fantasy genre. Unfortunately, the problem with Terry Brooks is that after the Sword of Shannara trilogy he essentially tells the same story in book after book, and, by the end of the second trilogy, it all becomes a little tedious.

Just now, I'm reading Martin Sixsmith's recent history of Russia.

Cheers

I have read the majority of the Shannara series and have really enjoyed them. I'll eventually get them all for my Kindle.

Re Shannara, I thought the first six (the first two trilogies were very good); I was not as crazy about some of the subsequent books as they struck me as something of a re-hash of earlier books and themes (and indeed, characters).

I'm re-reading Guy Gavriel Kay's excellent "Tigana", and also re-reading Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.

Twenty Questions. A Philosophical textbook I was required to have for my Intro to Philosophy class. Only on page 323 at the moment. I could probably finish it a lot faster if I didn't go back and write articles about interesting points or subjects brought up. Of course, what would be the fun in that? :)

An oldie, but goodie. In fact, I've reread it over a dozen times over the years. It never gets old. Faust by Robert Nye. Yes, THAT Faust--the most famous sold-my-soul-to-the-Devil guy.

I have had a really bad chest and head cold for the past week, and so am on antibiotics and more or less housebound and sort of confined to bed. Which has given me plenty of time to post on MR...and to re-read one of my all time favourite works of fantasy, the Sabriel trilogy (Sabriel, Lirael and Abhorsen) by Garth Nix. Great stuff.

Just finished Bret Easton Ellis - Less than Zero.

Very bleak writing, almost to the point of comedic teenage angst but at the same time spiritually devoid enough to make it hypnotic.
I just kind of turned page after page working my way through it in the same way as one might pick their way through a wasteland of dead electrical cable with a plug in their hand, never quite getting the spark but thinking there might be a live wire somewhere.

Just starting American Psycho.

Right now I'm reading through the Lord of the Rings Trilogy, just got done with The Fellowship of the Ring a couple days ago. It's kind of annoying though because I have already seen the movies, so I always know what is going to happen. These books would have a ton of suspense if I didn't know exactly how it was going to turn out, so that kind of takes away from it a little bit, but I am still really enjoying them.

I just started reading "It's Not About the Bike: My Journey Back to Life" by Lance Armstrong. I'm only two chapters in but its pretty interesting so far.
