safari almost always, but chrome occasionally (if a site doesn't work well with safari, etc). firefox seems bloated, ugly (to me). i've been meaning to check out brave (& will do that now).

but i like how safari is integrated with the OS (keychain, etc)...

Ive have used Brave on both mobile and desktop for two years without issue. Better battery life than Safari for me and all the extensions Chrome has without the ad-blocking restrictions and tracking.

Safari is my primary browser for day to day and any web dev tasks I have. Edge is my second browser with no plugins for sites that hate my adblocker.

Question as a web dev - do you use WordPress? Have you noticed Safari slowing down when trying to initially login or access the WP dashboards? Seems like it happened in the last version or two, sometimes I've had to switch to Chrome which has no problem.

Just curious!

Curious to hear how many people here are using MS Edge now. My main browser has always been Safari, however I do a bit of web development so I keep Brave and Firefox installed. There are also times when I need one of the other two for browser plugins.

My primary browser is Firefox via my computer. I like it very much. I also use Safari on desktop on occasion and for mobile use because I cannot be bothered with anything else on my phone. If I was not satisfied with those two options, I would strongly consider using Brave because my colleagues have highly praised it.

Firefox ... Mozilla doesn't hoover data up and helps block Facebook etc trackers.
Added LittleSnitch with over 50k Ad/Marketing and "Analytics" sites blocked to help blur my footprint.

Safari only, never had a need to use anything else.

Outside of development why have some of you gone off the reservation? What limitations are there?

PS: On the privacy side I have NordVPN and PiHole.

Recently switched to Firefox for the default browser and I'm pretty pleased so far. I have used Safari, but got tired of messages about excessive memory/battery usage, constant logging out of sites and so. I'm still using it for few work-related occasions tho.

For you, there's really no reason to use MS Edge, because both Edge and Brave are just Google Chrome with a customized skin and a few additional add-ons built-in, but the rendering engine is the same.

I like Edge better than Chrome, simply because it looks better and has a few features built-in that I like. But the ability to use Chrome plug-ins/extensions while handy, is not perfect and quite a few of them don't work in Edge, even though they say it will.

which is snappier and less resource hungry?

Safari, unless I need to use something else for specific reasons.

edit:
I do use Brave on other platforms and from time to time on macOS.

However for video safari is less power draw. I run an adblocker in Safari so the power difference from ads is insignificant. I don't get them in Safari either.

Sure I understood all of that. I was simply surprised that so many had tried Edge and decided to use it, having imagined it would be just another Chrome rehash with little new to offer.

I used Brave as my main browser for several months, simply because I was finding the internet a nightmare with the endless popups and cookie messages, especially since GDPR came in. Brave seemed to have a decent built in adblocker but I was still seeing far too many annoying privacy pop ups. All those lovely people who care deeply about our privacy so they demand the right to follow us everywhere.

One day I discovered Wipr for Safari and it was like going back 5 years in time when the internet wasn't quite so annoying. I still see the odd privacy pop up but 90% are gone and it was enough to take me back to Safari in heartbeat.

I use Brave which is clone of Google chromium project, but absolutely no ads. It's shield capability is amazing.
