I am using Safari on the latest version of Yosemite, and I am very impressed with it. Less hanging and more speed since the update released. I was a heavy Chrome user before Yosemite and ever since I've been on Yosemite, Safari looks more gorgeous and performs better than Chrome for me.

What about you? What are you using as a browser?

I use chrome at work on my windows computer and I used to use it on my Mac. In Yosemite Safari seems to run much faster than before, as fast or maybe faster than Chrome. Plus it has a lot more features. I have happily gone back to Safari, still have Chrome for a few things not supported by Safari.

As of writing i'm on Safari 8 but if i'm something that Safari 8 doesn't have right extension etc then it'll be Beta Chrome 64 or FF 31..
I love Firefox 31's speed but have you noticed how much CPU% it takes? My god. Too much!

Chrome Canary 64bit is amazing too, but yet again, too much CPU/Memory being used.

----------

I am using Safari 8.0 and really impressed with it, compared to the constant hanging and slow moving that Safari 7+ is in Mavericks.
I feel you. Safari 7 on Mavericks was a disaster.

You're right. Safari doesn't hang like it used to + I find it easier to use and more efficient than Chrome now. Plus, the aesthetics can't be beaten... yet.

I will be sticking with Safari 8 on Yosemite - fast, uses less resources and I like the look and feel.

However on Snow Leopard I have started using Opera and really like this browser - Fast, plus I like the mouse gestures and mouse over tab previews. (Yes I know SL is old but it is also very solid, reliable and fast on my system.)

I got 12 tabs in 1 window and 2+ more tabs in another window of Safari.. But Firefox and Chrome 64 Beta I only use 3 max tabs each and not @ the same time .. If Safari is open then 2 other are closed completely .. If open FF or Chrome is open then 2 of 3 are closed..

1 Browser open @ time even i know that I use 3 browsers @ once but i choose not to .

Activity Monitor / Messeges / MAS / iTunes / Safari (2 windows ) still got about 3.25 GB free ram left.. I'm fine on ram...

Which browser do you use on 10.10 and why ?

Like the title says which browser are you guys using.

I'm using Safari and I like it but sometimes I feel like using A different browser like Firefox or Chrome.
But Safari is integrated more in OSX so that's why I always keep returing to Safari.

So what do you guys think ?
Which browser are you using and why ?

I can't get used to Chrome. I use Firefox sporadically but for me it's safari. The latest version, 8.0.5, is the fastest - it does all I need and it does it well.

Safari on Yosmite, and in VM ware I have Centos 6 Linux running. I have Firefox there.

I have Chrome on Yosmite also, but I am told it uses massive resources.

chrome. Safari can't view 90% of online video and still has trouble with gifs/images loading on a page.

Safari 8.0.5 mostly. But I'll still use Chrome on occasion when certain webpages won't play nice with Safari.

Netflix DVD queue for example. If a disc is available in DVD and Blu-ray I'll lose the ability to remove it from my queue (the X isn't there).

My health providers webpage is even worse.

Because of that when I have difficulty with a webpage I'll boot up Chrome to find that the webpage just sucks and it operates the same as it did on Safari. But since I don't know that till I try it means I can't trust Safari.

I know this is the web devs issue but there isn't anything I can do about that. So in the end its a Safari issue for me.

Safari 8.0.5 on Yosemite, on my Macs.
Safari (iOS 8.3) on my iOS devices.

Mac Pro OSX 10.10.2

1. Chrome Version 38.0.2125.122
2. FireFox Version 37.0.1
3. Safari Version 8.0.4 (10600.4.10.7)

----------

I have Chrome on Yosmite also, but I am told it uses massive resources.

When using multi tabs it does for the memory, the CPU resources or OK!:D

I posted this in another thread, but I shall repeat it here.

I'm not going to say one browser is better than another. I spent a lot of time in chat rooms and one thing I noticed is people complain a lot about browsers performance. A specific browser can seem to work great for some people and work poorly for others. Just because browser works great for you does not mean it's going to work great for the next person. They might get better performance from a different browser. There seems to be several different factors that can cause this. Sites you visit, extensions you use and the combination thereof, what processes may be running in the background, what programs or how many are being used at a specific time. Even your Internet connection, and nodes in the area, relay switches even your ISP hub.

Each individual is going to have a different experience with each browser. It's up to the individual to experiment with each browser and decide on which one works best for them. After MS-DOS I use Windows computers from 95 until 2007 and every operating system during those years. For the first few years of that time Firefox worked best for me. But later on I found Opera worked better for me (because it required less extensions because most of the features were built within Opera) on Windows. When I switch to Macs in 2007 for the firstOpera did not provide the same performance value on the Mac. I always keep a copy of Firefox, Opera, Chromium (Google Chrome minus the tracking crap built in) and Safari. I find Safari works best for me over the others. So Safari is my default browser, Firefox seems to work second-best which makes it my alternative browser. I keep Chromium and Opera at hand which seem to work not as good as the other two but may be required for better performance on some websites (but only a few).

So for me and from my experience Safari performs best for me on my computer with my configuration and usage.

Far away from liberals
I use Chrome unless I need to view my security cameras, then I use Safari. It's the only browser I can get to work with the WebKitPlugin which my DVR needs to work within a browser

Primarily Safari just because it works well with all of my other Apple devices. I also just like the minimalist appearance of the browser. Helps me to just focus on what I'm looking at rather than using a chunk of the screen for tabs and such.

I have Google Chrome too and use it when there are compatibility issues with Safari on certain websites, but I try to avoid it if possible. Just not a fan of Google and their practices, but it's hard to avoid them anymore.

This is a little off subject, but I thought I would give you all a laugh!

Company policy mandates that we use IE on Windows, Firefox on Linux, and Safari on Mac. The policy is applied to personally owned devices as well are company owned.

The funny thing is some of the intranet services will pop up a window and complain if I access them using IE.
