I use Safari 99.9% of the time because, well, it's always been on OS X ever since I switched to Mac in 2007, and I am used to it. Furthermore, the operation seems smooth. I also use Firefox when I want to download videos (some plug-in extension lets me do it)

rarely use anything other than Firefox - prefer using one browser across platforms, plus I find the Firefox NoSquint extension the best option by far for setting global and site-by-site zoom levels
I only use Safari occasionally to toss a site in the favorites or to make a PDF out of a Webpage. Safari top sites which used to be really cool and flagged sites that had been updated since you viewed them has turned into a sloppy, hard to manage mess.
Totally Firefox for me. The extensions (ad removal and YouTube download) are better, Speed Dial is wonderful and it's more reliable. Also I like platform neutral software like Firefox, Photoshop and MS Office.

I use Safari 8 for everything except in cases where I need Flash player and in that case I use Chrome because it has a Flash player built into it. I don't need to use Chrome very often though.

Non-paginated PDF from Safari
Years ago I used something with Safari to produce non-paginated PDF. No matter how long the web page, there could be just one page to the PDF.
(As far as I recall, that thing was Evernote Web Clipper before it lost PDF capabilities. The more modern version can not suppress pagination.)
(I'm already aware of alternative browsers, or products for those browsers, that have the capability.)

Now: for modern versions of Safari, is there anything that can always produce single-page PDF?

I switch between Windows and OS X regularly, so I prefer using Firefox. While Safari is great on OS X, it's awful on Windows (plus no tab pinning features). I used Chrome for a while, but it was more of a resource hog on both OS's. The newest version of IE is pretty good too, but it's not cross platform so I didn't even consider it.
I used Safari pretty much exclusively the last couple of years but last night I decided to check out the 64 bit beta of Chrome.
I still like Safari better than all the other ones for two main reasons, speed and how well it manages system resources. But I have two big problems with Safari currently:
1) gifs/gify loading issues. Makes browsing reddit kind of a pain. the latest update seemed to make it better but still not as smooth as chrome.
2) I have no idea why but occasionally when I click on the address bar my window locks up for a few seconds. It gets pretty frustrating after a while, there's a reason I buy the hardware I do...mostly because I never want to deal with lag/stutter.
Hopefully a future update will resolve those problems because chrome's tendency to use up a lot of CPU/RAM and the fact that it causes my fans to spin up is quite annoying.

I've used Firefox for the last 10+ years, however have recently changed to Safari so I can pull up tabs I on either device. If Firefox was available for iOS then I would continue using it.

- moving targets
- reduced legibility, including tabs
- illogical, excessive use of brightness
- in a shared environment, the response to a click on the URL (or Command-L) is undesirable; so I'll never use Safari in Yosemite for a screen recording, and so on
- lack of distinction between windows less effective use of shadowing
- I prefer the Mavericks approach to seeing the names of all tabs at once (right now I can't find the discussion).

Always use Safari. I have Chrome installed, but it's memory usage is ridiculous!

I use Chrome at work on the Windows PC, and so I use Chrome at home on the macbook as well as everything is synced. Chrome does consume a lot of energy though, but what're you going to do.
Also, Safari doesn't remember my zoomed settings on webpages, but Chrome does.

I haven't used the Windows version in a while, but a quick search confirms you are right. It's been a couple of years already. Wow, didn't even realize this was the case.
Have you tried Maxthon? Its goodness on OS X surprised me.
On Yosemite, I found Maxthon to be far more Mac-oriented than Apple's browser for the Mac.
Cross-platform aside: recently I tried Web in the most recent Lumina desktop environment. Simply beautiful, beautifully simple. Just, a little too simple to sway me; there's not (yet) scope for bookmarklets.
Back to Safari 7.x in Mavericks. Waiting patiently for things elsewhere to mature.
I don't even have another browser installed. I love Safari, it does what I want when I want it to, and I use iCloud keychain on both my iPhone and iMac. I hate Chrome with a passion.
On my Windows 8.1 (soon to be Windows 10) PC, I actually find IE11 to be pretty good and extremely fast, especially with the SSD fitted. It's a gaming PC so is rarely used for daily usage. Firefox is on there too and it's okay.

I had never heard of Maxthon until now, but I just looked into it and wow it seems like they have a version of their browser everywhere. I'm gonna do some more research to see if it's worth it for me to switch over.
