I had never heard of Maxthon until now, but I just looked into it and wow it seems like they have a version of their browser everywhere. I'm gonna do some more research to see if it's worth it for me to switch over.

I have used it on my Windows computers, it works fine, have not tried it on my mac.

Web

Cross-platform aside …

Oops, it was wrong of me to imply that Web is not cross-platform. Don't expect Windows to run it, but it's tidy on OS X:

Chrome. Syncing content between my Linux-running Chromebook, Android Xperia Z3 Compact phone, Android LG tablet and Mac Pro is the killer feature. But I do admit Safari is much prettier.

Earlier today, with OS X 10.9.5:
  1. Safari 7.x with AutoPagerize to produce a single-page web archive of a multi-page topic
  2. OmniWeb to produce PDF from that .webarchive
  3. iCab to produce a single-page PDF from that .webarchive
  4. back to Safari.
Other recently used browsers include, on PC-BSD:
Now, with OS X 10.9.5:
  • I just installed Midori

Side note

Today I realised that this topic is in the Yosemite area, so I thought of striking through some of my earlier posts (about Safari 7.x and so on). The opening post is not so limited –

… before Yosemite …

– so it seems reasonable to continue with discussion of browsers that can be used without Yosemite.

Safari because Chrome has got to complete retard mode.

Yes, Google said they were aware its taking up to many resources, but they haven't updated it yet.

As of today I went to Safari as my default browser, on my older iMac and new MBA. As recently as last month when I tried Safari there were issues with it working with LastPass for all of my log in information for different sites and blogs I use. Also some webpages never would load correctly.

For some reason, yesterday afternoon when trying Safari on a new MBA ... finding it working ... I tried it on my older iMac that I use as my main computer and Safari was working perfectly.

So as of a few hours ago, I have moved from Chrome to Safari.

It was a minor thing but a irritating thing when Chrome took away the ability to sort bookmarks ... I hated that.

How on earth did you get to the autopagerize website to download it. It seems the link is broken. Help! I need this extension for I cannot wish to go on living with out it. I downloaded the source master code from github and tried building the extension myself, but i don't have a developers certificate...

UPDATE: I installed TamperMonkey with a autopagerize script and everything is working now!

Why would anyone use anything other than Safari on Mac as their main browser is beyond me. You might as well just use Windows if you prefer functionality over stability and speed.

Because it use to be slower than slow, pages wouldn't load ... so I chose a different browser. But with the latest update something has changed. I'm having no problems with Safari for the 2nd or 3rd day in a row.

Safari because it uses less resources and it's less "battery hungry", as a web dev Chrome if I have to do development and js debug.. Chrome dev tools are awesome!

Firefox. I've tried so hard to like Safari but it's not the same. I leave my bookmarks sidebar open all the time. Good thing my iMac has 16GB of ram though, as it's a hog.

I am a web dev so at work I have all of them installed, but I mainly use Firefox Developer Edition (http://mzl.la/10Mrm0L), but I have to check everything in the others (including IE in my Virtual Machine) :)

Outside of work, on my macbook, I mainly use Safari

I use Chrome. Better extensions and full syncing to every other OS. Safari is great, but I want my bookmarks synced to my windows computer too. My macbook pro is more than powerful enough to make both Safari and Chrome feel fast.

As much as I like Safari's UI and speed and battery life much better than Chrome on MAC
But I have no choice but sticking with Chrome.
I use too many Google services that Safari clutter the workflow.

Firefox 38.0.6 on PC-BSD with Simple White. I don't like the brightness, but I realised (this week) that much of my aversion to Firefox is a result of the shape of the tabs.

Nitefox is installed but I can't get it to work. Maybe it'll not work with this Firefox, or on this platform.

Safari makes such a massive difference for me on my mid-2010 mbp.
Chrome worked relatively well for me over the years but the last year of so it really become a huge resource hog for me. Was becoming unbearable at times.

Went back on Safari and it has been working fine for me.

I am using Safari on the latest version of Yosemite …

@GoldenChild if you like, add a poll to your opening post. Multiple choice answers.

There'll be probably not enough options for the range of browsers but I suggest including separate lines for the following:
  • Safari 7.x or less
  • Safari 8.x
  • Safari 9 or greater

Off-topic for a moment …

… Safari doesn't remember my zoomed settings …

Safari is extensible:
… Safari is great, but I want my bookmarks synced …

Safari 8.0.7 on Yosemite 10.10.4: I surf the web a lot because my job needs me to. I tried every browser available but went back to Safari because it renders pages faster. Safari is also way more fluent. It can hit 60 fps on many site while other browsers struggle. The only problem I have with it is the lack of extensions (or support) the other browsers have.

… Which browser are you using and why ?

Prerelease Safari 9. Because there's fairly limited availability to users of Mavericks.

Beyond simple public knowledge of that product combination – Safari 9 disponibile come beta per OS X 10.9.x e 10.10.x - macitynet.it and so on – I'll discuss neither details of the combination, nor the source. I encourage other users of the combination to do the same; respect the confidentiality that is requested by Apple.

Other readers, note that public sharing of relevant Apple links is not allowed in MacRumors Forums. So please, don't request a link; instead, be patient and/or wait for confidential discussion to be published in the Apple Developer area.

I've tried xmarks. It didn't cleanly sync bookmarks and every once in a while, half of my bookmarks would mysteriously be missing.
