Can you please elaborate. What don't you like about it?

I know I'm not the person you quoted, but I prefer the black from bezel as it looks more uniform when the screen is off (one solid black surface). I also find white borders look much worse around a screen when looking at video or photos, and they tend to make the screen look smaller as it brings attention to the edges.

I thought I'd like it more with the eye-bleeding white of iOS 7, but I find the white of the screen doesn't mix well with the non-backlit white of the bezel.

Not that it makes a huge difference either way :)

Personally, I'd love to have a red phone like the HTC One in red, although that 920 in matte grey looks excellent.

Ah okay. I don't feel the same way but I respect your opinion.

Agreed. I had a white Galaxy SIII, iPhone 4s and 5 for a few months, and it's more of a distraction than anything. You get used to it, but when I got my 5c i was happy to have a black bezel. Especially true when watching videos or playing games and looking at photos.

Since moving to the red M8, the screen is much bigger to begin with, but the screen and bezel below and around it is black. The red is where the speaker grills are and they aren't much of a distraction compared to white. More noticeable than black or grey, sure, but not as bright as white was. I also have a Speck Candyshell on it and it covers up the red on the sides, so it looks less like it's framed, and more like a widescreen TV with speakers on the end.

Best example of this is a TV. Don't see as many white ones as you do black.

This reply pretty much covers it. Also, I've included a photo of my 5s and my daughter's 4s to illustrate. I just like the near uniform black edge to edge appearance vs. the contrast of white bezel next to black screen. Prefer the look especially when watching video. Imagine a big white bezel around your TV--there's a reason you don't see that.

Yes I understand where you're coming from. But to me, the iPhone is a phone. I can see how a white border can be very distracting for a TV but on a phone it's another case. I don't watch movies or shows on my phone, just short YouTube videos and I've never found it distracting at all.

I don't find it distracting to watch videos on my white ipad. Once you are immersed in the content you don't notice the bezel.

I don't necessarily find the white distracting either, just a matter of preference is all.

Of course, to each their own.

My preference would be red. I'm hoping my next phone will be one from Project Ara where you can pick and choose which modules you attach to your phone. I'm not going to be too picky about colour or that all of the modules share the same colour. I just care more that the modules do what I want it to do. As a kid playing with Lego, I cared more about the shape of the pieces and not so much about colour. My Lego models tend to be made of all different colour blocks. I have a feeling that my Ara phone may have different coloured modules, too like my old Lego models.

The back can be any colour but the front has to be Black for me. The only other colour i would consider is Silver. Too bad its quite a rarity now a days in the high end spectrum.

Yep saw a galaxy alpha in silver, was very nice looking. Though aluminium like the m8/M7 also is 'silvery'...

Depends.

Have a glacial silver and black/silver rear right now. Owned a native blue with my old Sanyo. Had a dark gray like my Nexus One. Have a white/gold iPhone 5s.

I'm kinda leaning toward red like the Lenovo S820 or the metallic gray of the G3. I never considered purple but I thought HTC made a nice-looking purple with the 8X. I will avoid anything green, pink, and yellow though. I would consider orange. I prefer black front panels myself but white does hide fingerprints better. Black, red, and white are my favorite colors, but dark gray and blue can also look nice on phones depending on the design.

Black has worked best for me. I loved the HTC One M7, but I never quite got used to the silver body. Consuming media just seems to be easier on the eyes with a black background for me.

Black - My fav color. Looks sleek when it is clean. Best color for viewing videos. Too common and easily gets smudged just like black automobiles. Since it isn't cloth, it doesn't generate heat like a black shirt would though. Black matches well with any color as a contrasting color. The usual pick for most.

White - Shed feminine label. The front of the iPhone 5s panels looked the best to me. Same with the Galaxy S3. Hides fingerprints better. White can also match well in colors too but not as well as black. Can get dusty and dirty fast. Classic iPod color and Macs during the 00's.

Blue - Owned a navy blue phone before and it wasn't bad looking. I like blue but it never has been one of my fav colors.

Red - Unique color on smartphone as I only owned one phone that was labeled red. Best looking smartphone I ever saw in red was the HTC Windows Phone 8S.

Dark gray/metallic silver - Has a good balance of hiding fingerprints and surface scratches. Can look sleek too. Nexus One, anyone?

Gold - Champagne gold can look good if done right. Not all gold options are great though.

Purple - Not my cup of tea but HTC made a nice one with the Windows Phone 8X.

Cyan - Nokia did it the best with the Nokia N9/Lumia 800. Throw in the magenta one as well.

Orange - The only orange gadgets that ever appealed to me was the 4th gen iPod nano and maybe the Nokia N8.

Green, yellow, or pink - No thanks.

If my next phone is the Asus Zenfone 5 (used as my third stringer), then it will be RED.
