Agreed. I had a white Galaxy SIII, iPhone 4s and 5 for a few months, and it's more of a distraction than anything. You get used to it, but when I got my 5c i was happy to have a black bezel. Especially true when watching videos or playing games and looking at photos.

Since moving to the red M8, the screen is much bigger to begin with, but the screen and bezel below and around it is black. The red is where the speaker grills are and they aren't much of a distraction compared to white. More noticeable than black or grey, sure, but not as bright as white was. I also have a Speck Candyshell on it and it covers up the red on the sides, so it looks less like it's framed, and more like a widescreen TV with speakers on the end.

Best example of this is a TV. Don't see as many white ones as you do black.
