Apple users that need to communicate with Android users will probably use WhatsApp. I prefer using iMessage wherever possible, and I use WhatsApp for all my Android contacts..I think that this is the case for most Apple users.
Most in my circle still just use the built-in Messages app so it’s iMessage when possible and regular SMS/MMS for Android contacts (automatically handled by iOS). In the US so practically everyone has unlimited messaging.

The only time we use a different messaging app is for friends and relatives overseas. For that, Facebook Messenger is the default choice.

What default browser and mail apps will you use? I'm fine with Safari on iOS but for some reason I just hate it on Mac. I am a Chrome user normally but am thinking of moving the Edge as it's Chromium but with nicer tracking prevention. So I may switch to Edge on iOS.

As for Mail, I'm a Mail app user that's reasonably happy with the stock Mail client. Are there others that you would recommend?

What combination will you use?
Edge and outlook.

imessage is so limited. You can't even delete your message.

You mean delete it for the other user as well? As that's going to be due to it acting the same as SMS, which is in the same app and SMS does not allow it. This is so there isn't different behaviours, for people that don't get why one type of message behaves one way, whilst others differently. You'd see iMessage doing it if it wasn't bundled with SMS.

Firefox to sync with my Linux and Windows desktops. It’s come a long way. Wish Thunderbird was mobile but sticking with Mail for now. Outlook is for work only and don’t like having all my accounts with work in one app.

Literally switched to Spark for email after reading this thread. I love the interface so far- looks beautiful. I like the ability to customize toolbar and all.
Only thing that concerns me is security- read somethings online that they keep mail on their servers?

Is this true/are you worried?
Have my personal Gmail and school exchange account on it.

And I use, safari on iOS and Mac for internet, on an unrelated note.

Apple Mail and Safari but I'm looking for a different browser that doesn't drain battery as much as Safari, it is crazy most of my battery drainage is because of Safari. Those using Firefox how is the battery on that?

Could it be simply related to using Safari more often and for longer periods of time compared to other apps?

Yes that is most likely the case, I need to start to browse on the computer and not on my phone I guess lol

I used to love Spark but after the security issues I stopped using it. Need to test out other email apps to find one that works for me. Since I don't use email for personal communication, mostly bills etc., I'm in no rush to find the perfect email client. But I'm happy we have this option now.

serpico007, could you elaborate on the security issues? New to the app so I am curious. Thank you

Safari and Mail. I use Edge Chromium and Windows 10 Mail on PC.

I use the default first party apps all the time for reliability and integration.

If you Google it there will be plenty info. It was earlier this year I believe. Something about saving passwords to our accounts.

One thing I noticed today, if any links are sent to me via Messages, Safari still opens them and not my default browser. Is this what happens to all of you too?

I find this whole implementation half baked. I have Spark set as default mail, but mail links in apps regularly do not use Spark.

I agree, it does seem half baked and perhaps 14.2 more bugs will be fixed. Living in both iOS and Android, I see the same annoyances creeping into iOS just to keep up.
