My dad is using my Air 2. He browses the web, shops online and watches YouTube. It suits him just fine. It was one of the best iPads ever.

Later 9.7-inch iPads have been wonderful. Very complete and with great longevity. The iPad Air 2, the 9.7-inch iPad Pro, and the 5th and 6th-gen iPads are nothing short of amazing.

Completely usable for content consumption even 10 years after release, something that their predecessors cannot say. They’re wonderful devices even today.

I use them to stream the TiVo for my cable subscription, so that I can watch MSNBC Fox News and CNN all at the same time as separate TV channels plus CSPAN on my real TV during the election. So, more screens - with the advantage that I can pick them up and use them.

No iPad cemetary or graveyard for my babies; they’re going to get used until they don’t work. Periodically give one away. Gave the very first iPad to a neighbor in exchange for work on a car. He did something to it, and it became slower than a Sinclar ZX-Spectrum.

My 2018 12.9 IPP has been promoted to stay-at-home streaming server/grocery shopping list maintainer, while the new 12.9 IPP is used for everything else.

I have four iPads sitting here that are old. A mix of mini’s and full size. Are they just trash? What do you all do with this old equipment?
I’ve got a disabled child who loves having an iPad, but, unfortunately, breaks them every 6 to 12 months. My child has been through a LOT of iPads. If you’ve got four of them sitting around, I’d be happy to take them off your hands and put them in the hands of my child and other disabled kids.

(And, yes, I’ve tried every kind of super-case and AppleCare + and all of that. It just is what it is.)

On iOS 10 I basically only use 32bit apps that do not run on newer versions and the music app.
Yes. That's one of the reasons I kept my original iPad Pro--purchased the very first day the iPad Pro came out--to run 32 bit apps that won't run on my newer iPads.

Specifically there is a biking app that shows a (pretty graphically crappy) path that you bike along, with the speed varying based on how fast you are pedaling. The neat thing about that app is that I requires no direct communication between the app and your bike. It bases its assessment of your "speed" based on vibrations from your pedaling.

All battery powered left over junk makes it to the oceans eventually and also all the new battery power stuff replacing gasoline powered equipment. Thats where my iPad will go eventually.
Plastics never die but at least gaseous products dissipate.
So breathe or eat that is the choices.
