Does anyone have any suggestions on leather messenger bags under $150? I'm looking for something to use when I am business dressed on campus and for work in place of the North Face backpack I use for casual wear.

I know its more than you wanted to spend, but this is the bag I carry and I highly recommend it:

Everything I've purchased from Waterfield Designs, including this bag, is very well made and their bags are really sleek. They complement Apple products very well in my opinion.

Like a previous poster, I know this is more than what you want to spend, but if you can swing it somehow . . . think of it as an investment. Also, wait to see if any sales come up around the holidays.

Roots are known for their leather products and I've had this one almost a year. I was using a nice Timbuk2 messenger bag, but with a newer job and new responsibilities, I wanted something that was more professional and not over the top corporate. It's a decent size and wear incredibly well. I've had more than a few people comment on the briefcase saying they liked it.

I notice quite many people in this thread are carrying iPads, computers and iPhones, every day. I have all three products but I have never, not even once, needed/wanted to bring all three. May I ask, what can you do on your iPad that you cannot do on your phone or computer? I'm curious. Thanks in advance! :)

Yeah, I like both of the bags you and the previous poster have presented but it is way out of my budget and the budget of birthday and Christmas presents. I found a bag at Wilson leather I really liked last summer and I really regret not picking it up because I have found nothing else that I like up to this point that's within my price range.

I use my iPad for Media, reading, and research if I'm not at my desk. I also support some iPads and it helps to have it for reference.

In addition to Macs I also support iPhones and iPads at work so it helps to have them handy. In addition I use my iPhone for notes/email/messaging frequently as I wander around the office and I'll take my iPad with me on support runs if I need to access Active Directory via Citrix.

I have just finished school but when I go back the things I take are;

- MacBook Pro 17" Anti-Glare, i7 Quad / 8GB Ram / 1GB GPU , 1TB Hard drive. I've been using a school supplied MacBook Air 13" this year.
- iPad Mini 64GB WiFi, Red Smart Cover. I use this for text books and type on the computer.
- 2x Portable HDD's, 2 Buffalo MiniStation 1TB's. One for all of my school photos and projects and one a backup of the other.
- Magic Mouse.
- iPhone 5 16GB.
- Wallet.
- Lightning Cable and EarPods.
- TW Steel TW 604 A1GP Limited Edition. Love this watch.

For the past year I have been using a MacBook Air, its been great for the general school stuff but for Lightroom and Premiere, (I'm the school photographer) it just hasn't been enough, both screen resolution and power. My teacher offered my a great deal on his 17" MBP and I couldn't resist. Needs a SSD though :p

With me at all times, it's normally:
  • iPhone 5s
  • Keys
  • Wallet
  • Galaxy S4 (unlimited data plan so tethering & backup phone)

Either in the office, car or at home (normally always in my Incase backpack):
  • Sunglasses
  • Normal Glasses
  • Macbook Pro
  • Sennheiser MM-400 Wireless Headphones
  • Apple Earphones

Always stay in the car:
  • Bag with spare clothes, toiletries bag (I stay at my girlfriends a lot)
  • Football kit & football (never know when Chelsea might call me up)
  • Sunglasses
  • AUX Cable

Will get pictures when I'm not at work.
