I don't get all the people who carry knives around. There are other things much more useful: good gaffer tape and WD40 come to mind. There are even much more useful things than a plain knife: a Leatherman Micra or a Gerber Dime, for instance, are much smaller and have pliers. How often do you need a 3"+ non serrated blade?
I work retail, so a knife is better than a multi-tool. A pocket knife is thin and light. My pocket knife is my multi-tool. I've screwed screws, pried thing open, even cleaned my nails with it.
Plus, its good to have in the very off chance of self defense.

You're allowed to carry knives on you in the USA?
Well, yeah. We can carry guns (with a concealed handgun license) why wouldn't be able to carry knives?

Yes and no. Depends where you are. Most states allow as long as it not for a harmful purpose. Then there are cities like NYC which have the stupid laws: can carry above ground for no harmful reason, but cannot carry underground for any reason unless your occupation requires it. Some garbage like that.

For those wondering why I carry it, well it is more useful than you can imagine. From cutting wood or an apple to applying butter or prying things open, the uses are countless. For me the majority of the use is in opening packages since my wife gets something or the other delivered every day #shopaholic :)

The brand is Filson. It's pretty expensive (well to me anyway) but usually outlives you from what I hear, even if you beat the crap out of it. I got both bags for about 50-60% off when they were on clearance at some store that was discontinuing holding their brand I think. I don't think I'll ever get that lucky again.

Be careful with that mentality. Pistol CCW doesn't necessarily cover knives and will vary state to state. Nevada for example is one. You might have a pistol CCW license, but it does not cover concealed carry of a knife. In Las Vegas, it is actually illegal to conceal carry a knife greater than three inches. So while in LV, I actually have to make sure my folder's clip is visible in my pocket, while at the same time, conceal my Glock.

But I have started carrying an under 3" knife now, for universal carry since a less than 3" is the "most compatible" with the varying State, County, and City laws I encounter.

I thought Nevada was open carry anyway? What do you see as the main reason for CCW in a state with Open Carry? Tactical advantage?

Just curious as stated earlier, in Aus we can't open or CCW any sort of weapon. Knives included although can be lenient depending on one's occupation.

Old setup...both .45ACP HK USP and HK USPc. The fullsize would reside in my backpack. Off duty of course.
