Lack of a fast charger in the box and headphone adapter is a real ****** move from Apple. Their bean counters get worse every year. Aside from a headphone jack I can't really think of much that it is missing. While I would love a 120 Hz refresh rate, it's just not happening for OLED this year.

I feel you are also paying a pretty hefty premium just because it's an Apple phone rather than it being actually any better than competition from the Android side. Things like faster processors don't really show up in everyday use much.

XS Max has very little besides screen size to make it stand out from the XS. Seems like iOS doesn't make good use of the larger screen either if it can't fit more icons etc.

Aside from those that don't plan to upgrade solely because their existing phone is working fine or they don't want to pay the costs, I've heard a lot of others, including people close to me state that the upgrade just isn't enough for them to justify paying for a new phone.

Coming from a 7+ myself, I see a lot of upgrades, but I guess I'm wondering what's missing.

What are the features that people are looking for that they don't feel Apple has supplied yet? Are there a lot more advancements in phones now that I'm not aware of that Apple has chosen not to add? Just curious as to what's out there that others are still waiting on??

A third rear lens/sensor with effective angle of say 85mm for telephoto would be great.

Support for something like pencil, at least on the max, would be useful.

The obvious thing its missing is the ability to be used with one hand. But that’s missing from all of Apple’s phones now.

That, and the pricing is getting ridiculous.

Apple are asking almost double the price of previous iPhones for a few trinkets that most people will never care about, whilst getting rid of their low end models that would do the job.

Could I afford a brand new iphone XS max? Sure, i could go buy several (10-20?) of them in cash outright today. If i wanted to.

Would I? No. I do not feel that the feature-set is worth it for the price.

I'll hold onto my 7 until it does and grudgingly upgrade to whatever is current when i need to for my watch, if i still run one at that point.

Apple has been jacking the pricing on ALL of their devices and IMHO the spec simply doesn't justify it in a lot of cases.

I'm coming from a 256GB X, and I see plenty of reasons to upgrade. Just about as many reasons as there are any 'S' year.

Can't wait to pick up my XS Max Friday morning. :)

It's missing:

- faster watt adapter
- pro motion
- cheaper price tag

imo if it had those I would've upgraded, just not worth it now especially if you have an X already.

What do I feel the XS/ XS Max is missing?

5G, USB-C, smaller notch......are the things I thought would be on the XS and XS Max.

I’ve thought long and hard for the last 2 days and have kept myself from upgrading (it isn’t easy to fight my urge albeit) because I just don’t feel it’s enough of an upgrade from my X.

Im holding off for iPhone 11 when Apple plays catch up to Androids 5G. By then the carriers should have 5G off the ground to the masses. So waiting won’t hurt as much when I’ve got a X in my hand.
People here seem to think 5g won’t come to iPhone for 2-3 more years. It could be a long wait, but I get what you’re saying.
[doublepost=1537056807][/doublepost]I’m a broken record, but I’m sick of iPhones always being good for 1 day of battery life or so. Every year it’s comparable to the last year, give or take a few minutes longer. The 6.5” X will not last even close to a day if you’re filling it with 4K video. If apple offered a smart battery case for the bigger phones I could let it slide, but they don’t and probably never will. Power users have always gotten the shaft from Apple.

Faster charging brick. Thought this year we'd get USB C to Lightning.
I haven't used the phone, but I was hoping for a bigger hardware improvement on the camera, but not judging yet
Promotion would be nice, but I'm guessing thats next year.
More/better crap in the Max would have been nice, but I heard a lot of people who wanted the small one bitching because they couldn't get all the features in the smaller form factor, so I get it.

There wasn't even rumors about this phone getting 5G, it's crazy to think they should have included that. I'd bet the farm next years phone doesn't have it either. Wouldn't shock me if the 2020 phone didn't even have it.

It's missing a chunk of the top screen and precision pen input. If Apple can fix those two issues then it'll be worth the asking price.

Split Screen, Pro Motion and DARK MODE. The OLED is beautifulbut it can be blinding at night since the UI is predominately white. I use Smart invert but that leaves me longing for a true dark mode.

I agree and honestly there is just not reason that Apple cannot implement a true dark mode. They just drag ass on stuff like this so they can roll it out another time like it some sort of magical experience like recently on the Mac.

Missing a sturdy design (think like an iPhone 2g) And maybe by now we could have the camera flush with the rest of the device.

Imagine being able to carry your phone without a case. Without fear of it breaking.

Imagine the camera flush with the rest of the casing. Nowadays if you don’t want the camera to stick out, you have to put a case on your $1000 machine.

Seems like a design flaw like that could be improved by now. Hell, it was this way in 2007.

The Max is missing full utilization of the larger screen, IMO. It’s pretty annoying.
Any phone that is less than 20 square inch in size while the XS max is only measured at 16 square inch will still be limited. Even if it supports iPad app, it would look like a ruler 12 inch long because of different aspect ratio. XS max is already smaller than the smallest tablet out there with at least 7 inch or 20sqi (iPad Mini has about 30 square inch (still much bigger than Xs max in area). I think the font size on xs max will be as tiny as head lice if you cramp the iPad/Macbook/Desktop site by trying hard. Considering its 1.95:1 all you have to do is to adopt, if cannot adopt on tiny screen xs max use its bigger brother iPad/Macbook to avoid straining healthy eyes right. Trying hard to read on tiny Xs max or smaller phone can cause eyesight detoriation for long period of time, #EyeMigraineIsReal
