spotlight just smoked alfred and launchbar. Looks great. i am very worried about the speed and how bloated and buggy it is like mavs.

Really excited about the new spotlight (no more alfred) and the phone/osx integration. It will be really nice to talk to my friends with inferior (android) phones from my MBP.

I might even think about using the Apple Mail instead of sparrow.

If you look closely at the dock as it was featured during the Keynote, you'll notice the Dashboard icon missing. It used to sit prominently right next to the Finder icon. With the enhanced Notification Center and ability to program "own extensions" for it, the Dashboard seems to be doomed (or "replaced").

Loving it! I just wish that they had actually updated some of the underlying technologies within the OS, like they did with Mavericks.

Dashboard hasn't seemed to be a default icon on the dock since SL... I hope it becomes integrated with Notification Center, as it seems kind of redundant IMO! :p

What this poll tells me is that 15% of MacRumors has at least minor issues with Yosemite. What experience tells me is that 90% of the threads regarding Yosemite are going to be people whining and threatening to stay on SL/Lion/ML/Mavericks or switch to Windows.

disappointed with lack of core features for OSX that should have been done at least a year ago:

- 10 bit color support
- siri

what did they do with Mavericks? I never used anything less than 10.9 as it was my first mac.

I've been using it off and on all afternoon and every time I open the screen I'm like, "Wow this looks really nice." It's subtle, mostly, but still better in my opinion. I like the new flatter look and the Helvetica Neue font in the menu bars is really nice as well. I think it looks very "Pro" so to speak, especially compared to, say, Windows 8.1 (which is on my desktop PC--mostly for games.) So far, my programs and apps work and that is good--I had many issues with the Mavericks beta early on. Both my networked printers work as well.

Sadly, I can't get a lot of the continuity stuff to work, but I think that is because it's beta and I'm still using an iPhone5, not a 5s. I get a bluetooth error when trying to connect it to the Air.

So far, I do not like the strange blue-colored folders in finder, and I'm not a huge fan of the Yosemite background picture... a bit too yellow for me. (JMO)

I am looking forward to iCloud Drive (basically bringing back iDisk which I miss terribly) and the answering my phone and hotspot features. So far this is pretty smooth for a first beta release.

Great, now Mavericks is the new Snow Leopard. Except Mavericks isn't even that good. I'm this close to just going over to Windows 7.

Weren't you the same guy just complaining on another thread? Have you used Yosemite yet?

I have both Mavericks and W7 on my rMBP and while I do like W7 it doesn't come close to Mavericks in terms of speed, stability, features. Only reason I use it is for gaming and some specific windows programs. By all means criticise but if you just hate change then well, it's a capitalist society so buy as you please. When was the last time MS gave us a free OS?

Just how isn't Mavericks good? Really a serious question? Aside from the Mail app which sometimes needs forced to quit it's never crashed, as fast and responsive as the day I got it, bug free, sips the battery rather than guzzles it like W7. I was unsure about jumping to Macs and OS X but now that I've done it I think there is a huge gulf between the two with Mac far in the lead.

SO far I'am lovin' it.
What I'am worried about abit though, is the performance. The graphic effects aren't as smooth as on mavericks, so let's hope it will get better till stable release. On the other hand, it's still nowhere near as bad as comparing iOS 7 to iOS 6 on iPhone 4 (don't really own one, but had a chance to do a-b comparison).

And for **** sake, where is photo booth? :)

Don't like it at all. I'll be sticking with Mavericks as long as possible

No offence but aren't there guys like yourself every year? The same guys that swear the infamous Snow Leopard was the greatest thing since sliced bread? That still use obscure OS's from a decade ago? Fair enough UI changes are always polarising - I still refuse to use W8 but that's because they utterly butchered its' usability but personally I like the balance between a clean flat design and not going overboard.

Go ahead dude. Honestly. Ain't nobody stopping you. The age old threats here are getting tired.

Mavericks is much better than Snow Leopard and Yosemite tops both of them easily in feature-set and productivity to the end user. If you can't deal with what Apple is putting out then why be THISCLOSE...just switch on. Sheesh.

You know Mac OS isn't locked down like iOS. There are programs out there to change the look of your desktop if you don't like it. Or you could just stick with an older operating system, which you'd be doing anyway if you switched to Windows 7...

I guess the days of waiting a few years for a new OS are gone...

Its sad because the quality of these releases will suffer. Think of all of the Apple employees who have to redesign something every year.

Wouldn't it be better for Apple to do something really big and blow our socks off like they used to?

And think of all the money those Apple employees make for doing so. Do you honestly care about their well being? Many of them involved in the design of OS X and iOS mostly likely are getting in their upscale BMW's and eating dinner at posh restaurants that many of us could not afford, so do yourself a favor, don't worry about them. ;)

And I don't know how long you've been an Apple customer (I've been on Mac for over 15 years) but the releases that were 1.5-2 years between upgrades weren't much better than what we get now. It has nothing to do with giving them more time. Most of the feature upgrades have been in the pipeline for years. They just don't release them until the time is right.

And that's why there is a beta testing program so many of us can try it out and report back to Apple the issues so we all get a nice stable release. :)

Just wondering, if I'am not part of that dev program, that means I can't report bugs via feedback assistant?
it shows 'invalid token' or something like that.

What are you doing with a developer copy then? Why don't you sign up for the beta program and wait and get a legit beta?
