Its already all around the web that Intel will be doing price cuts on their major chips on July 22. The Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 2.4GHz is only suppose to be $266 USD, which is amazing.

I think the new iMac will look like the iPhone turned horizontal with a 20 inch and 24 inch glossy screen and include the following BTO.

Up to:
Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 2.4GHz / 1066 FSB
4GB DDR 2 800
GeForce 8600GT 512MB
1TB 7200RPM SATA 2 HDD

I suggest you also take a few English classes before you start as a programmer, otherwise your co-workers will kill you after they try to review your code documentation. At a minimum, try to start using Firefox which has a built in spell checker in forms.

Anyway, because of the new "games push", I hope they do something about the inability to upgrade graphics. I like to play PC based games, unfortunately graphics cards age so quickly that the current Apple Macs don't cut it (Mac Pro is too expensive for my needs).

That would be AMAZING... unlikley but amazing specs.

I think they could pull it off. Who says the computer components have to be behind the screen you know. Imigane something like a slightly bigger mac mini, maybe 2x the size, with a hinge on top of it and then the monitor. So all your computer compnents are in the base. Almost like the old G4 iMacs, but not so dome-ish and more square and sleek.

It can be done. :D

Please enjoy this crude representation using the outstadning MS paint and about 1.5 minutes of my time.

Maybe a touch screen keyboard?

I'm not sure I would enjoy a touchscreen keyboard. I think it would be too difficult to use. I like the keyboards we use today. It could cause a problem for people that rest their inactive fingers on various keys. I also like the feeling of depressing a key so I know it's been "entered" into the computer.

I think we are all agreed on the fact that the iMac will have a 8000 series GPU. However, I do hope they atleast offer a 8800GTS as a BTO option.
While a 8600 is a nice all-round card, its not that good - perhaps the power of a overclocked 7800GT.

A 8600GTS would be nice to have, but a 8800GTS would be brilliant. Especially since Apple are starting to acknowledge the existance of gaming.

I too hope for a decent desktop CPU (E6600 ?), but I know im asking for too much :)

Apple already has a comp like that. Its called the Mac Pro.
I dont think that they would include the 512mb not because they dont want to but it may just be too big. 1TB HDD possible but not likely. I guess the quad core is plausible because of the price drops but again, unlikley.

I'd like to see (including the 500 GB HD I mentioned earlier):

500GB HD
2 GB RAM (hopeful, but will likely be 1GB standard)
Smaller chin (a little chin looks better than none I think)
Better video card (anything but the current)
Superdrive (to simply keep up with technology)
Video in - I'd like some sort of TV Card. With the brilliance of some of the newer and larger apple displays, I would like to have a quick hookup for TV without buying a bunch of other stuff

This stuff would make me content on my new iMac :D
