More choice of gestures I guess.

Echoing others, Siri integration. I just don't like the idea of sitting in a library or public area and having to say out loud, "Turn down the volume".
In such a quiet environment, you'd only need to whisper your command. It's surprising how soft you can talk for the mic/s to pic it up.

I don't like having to choose between play/pause and siri. I like Siri to make phone calls in the frigid temperatures but if it could be a tap and hold until you hear the chime, I'd like that better. Then I could switch double-tap to play/pause.

Since you're already are reaching for one of the AirPods to double-tap, I find it just as easy to pull it out. Then use the tap function for Siri.

Yes, true and I agree, but in my use I've found that they don't resume play enough that I notice it.
