Get used to it I'm afraid. Apple is no better.
It's just math that's all. The £ isn't what it once was.
Trump will plummet dollar so we might get lucky :)
[doublepost=1484158388][/doublepost]
OK, based on this... put the £3000 back in the bank. Set yourself an agreement... whenever the 760 or whatever it is called comes out, or whatever next iteration of model is released that you decide is the one you want, however far out that may be, then buy that no sooner than 2 months after announcement (to avoid buying a lemon like the greasy shutter d600). Cease torturing yourself over when it will come out and say to yourself that you are happy where you are but WHEN the new one comes out you will treat yourself.
The plan is to purchase FF once D750 successor is out. Whether it will be heavily discounted D750 or more expensive successor is to be seen. I want another camera that will last me at least 8 years so yeah, something like you've mentioned. I'm waiting because I want sensible purchase as D750 is old now (sep. 2014) and I'm sure technology advanced in those 3 years (assuming successor is out in sep. 2017) :)

So why not wait a little longer for that :)

I know I'm wrong here but those Leica cameras look like toys to me. It seems that they just have few controllers and are made for tourists :)))))))

Probably the image quality is spectacular but I'm sure they have limitations as otherwise why would Nikon and Canon make such massive cameras if those Leica ones are so small.

Oooft thats fighting talk...

Far from tourist cameras... Yes they have limitations in that all they do bar anything else, is take beautiful images. :)

Toy cameras... Lol.... Ouch!

New one coming out next week... Looking forward to how much of a laugh they have on the price... On the plus side might be some good deals on the M240...

I said that they look like toys. Have a look at flagship Nikon D5 and compare it to flagship Leica.

Now, I don't understand photography & the technical side but are you telling me that Leica will do the same as D5? If so then why is Nikon making these monstrous cameras compared to the compact Leica ones?

To me, Leica looks like a toy. I know from people that Leica is probably one of the best brand in the photography world and I don't know anything about it. It's just visually they look like those disposable ones in the 90's :D :D :D

D5 is optimised for different aspects of photography to Leica M but generically, yes the M does the same as the D5 in a different way. In the same way a rally car and an F1 car are both racing cars but optimised for their specific uses.

So maybe I shouldn't bother with D750 and just get Leica if they both do the same :D :D :D

Your call... Depends what you intend to shoot most often. However as you have a D90, maybe you are best sticking to DSLRs. Rangefinders are an acquired taste but yes maybe research them a bit more.

Exactly, its tons of money and D750 was out in 2014 so there should be an update this year, hopefully. Either D750 will drop a lot and will be a good purchase or the successor with show something that will explain why I felt that its good to wait. Don't know that yet but time will tell. :)
So after how long did you get your D750?

I got my D750 late 2015. Before I got it, I did look at the D610 and thought if got the D610 I could use the money I saved to get more glass. But then I thought If I want to jump from D90 ... my next DSLR to be bigger. I don't use video a lot but I wanted to have more control over my video settings. While I was waiting to purchase the D750, I made sure I had enough storage because the files are huge. Also, I wanted to have some nice glass to complement the D750. When everything was in place I was ready. I really didn't think about what if another camera came out after buying. What could Nikon add next??

Looking at the D610, the price has only dropped about $500. Lets say the next FF DSLR in the size comes out and they keep the D750 in stock. The price will drop another $300-500? maybe?

$300-$500 drop would be fantastic.

I remember when I bought my D90 kit and it cost me $1100. That was expensive purchase back then but It was so worth it. The camera got so much use and I did learn a lot. Now I wanna jump higher and take it to the next level. So lets see what happens :)

How are you happy with your D750 and what lens did you get with it in the end?

Happy with mine. Got it with the 105 macro as I had all the glass in my signature at that point (accept the 200-500).
You don't have to just get the listed bundles (as they are usually not the best lenses). If you want something else they will do a deal.

I had my eyes set on 24-70 2.8 and was wondering if its a good idea to (later) get 14-24 2.8 or the 17-35 2.8. However, that is still too far in the future. I think for now 24-70 makes sense to me ( I think).

what feature does the D750 lack that you are eating on? I mean, yes, the "D760" is coming. So is the "D770" and so on. Is there something specific you need? Perhaps you want 1/8000 second shutter. Maybe get a D8xx instead (in sticking with Nikon).

I have the 750. Would I like (even) better ISO range? Faster shutter? Better phone App? Longer battery life? Lighter weight? Built in wireless flash control?

Sure, who wouldn't gladly take all those things regardless of how infrequently they use them. I still don't regret the camera I am using. If you are waiting for 10 months to buy a D750, perhaps it doesn't have the features you want/need. What would they have to add to get you to click buy immediately?

Nothing, I'm not really waiting for features. I'm waiting for 2 things:
a) D750 will get cheaper when successor out and it will be tempting enough to purchase D750
b) D760 (or whatever the name is) will have something nice that will futureproof even more for me and I get that

Either way I'm not waiting for anything. I'm a type of person that never wants to buy anything so late in the cycle. If I buy the camera today and 6 months later new one is out and D750 is discounted $300-$500 as some suggested then I've lost $300-$500 and gained nothing. (except I've learnt how to use it but practically I won't use the camera much)

Just to put it in perspective. D90 I've had for 7 years has only about 11000 actuations which tells you that I don't use the camera that much. Yes, I've picked it up more in last 2 years but still, I'm in no rush. Never used FF (except few test shots from a friend) and never really experienced the massive jump I will be getting. Because of that, right now there is nothing I really need that is stoping me from taking pictures. Yes, D90 and low light is awful and so is the focus sometimes but I've learnt to live with it and it doesn't affect me. So why rush something that will cost me £3000? (including 24-70 2.8 lens)
Most people use camera way more so they are not able to wait as long. For me its not a big deal. I can wait another year. At this point its just lust for a new toy but with that price tag, I'm sensible enough to wait and when successor is out I will balance what to get. Either discounted D750 or the successor.
I wouldn't mind getting D820 if it comes out first but the problem with D8xx is that the files are huge and not really worth it for me. Will see in the next 6 months hopefully.

Honestly it depends on what you shoot and what glass you already have.
For landscape you can't beat the 14-24.
TBH the 24-70 always feel a bit short or not wide enough for me. But that's probably because it mostly gets used when I just take one lens out with me.
I'd certainly look at second hand glass. Only my 105 macro, 200-500 and 50mm were new.
Even if you have to pay for it to be serviced (I never have), you're still better off.

Well, I have 50mm 1.4 lens which is the only one I got extra.

Then i have the 18-105 kit lens but thats DX so thats techincally 24mm anyway which I'm used to. I don't zoom in that much but I know that I might miss the extra reach of the 105mm (157mm) but now I'm getting into portrait a bit so 24-70 & 50mm is probably perfect.
Although some people mentioned that i would be better off by buying 85mm as its much better for portrait and that the 50mm 1,4 is not that good as its not that sharp and perhaps 1.8 50mm is much better. (back when i was buying it i didn't know that much so i thought more expensive = better)

I have the 1.8G which is sharp for me. 85nn is a good lens (as is the new 105mm). But if your going to go down the primes route your going to get a second mortgage!
Chack your library and see what focal length you shoot at most regularly. That should help you decide.

I'm very happy with my D750. Last night I fired a few shots just to here it click. I found a good deal on an open box 24-70mm f/2.8. I couldn't see myself moving to full frame without some nice glass. My 50mm f/1.8 is a work horse. Never bought the kit for the D90 (body only).

I really like that I can crop my images. I don't miss the extra xZoom you get with a DX camera.

@Apple fanboy There has been a few times I needed the 24-70mm to go wider too. But I'm not sure I needed the 14-24 because for what I shoot a lot, I wouldn't need it as much. I did pick up the 20mm just for fun. I think I will get either the 105mm next or something in the 70-200mm range.

105 macro or portrait? I have the 105 macro and love it. Don't have any need for a portrait lens.
As for the need for going wider/longer that's usually because I often take my camera out with the 24-70 only if I'm just carrying my small bag. Then I just miss the other glass I own.
I guess I'm just saying I'm spoilt for choice!

I can't remember the one I used with my D90. I will probably rent them and then decide which one to get.

Unless it was in the last 6 months it would have been the 105 macro.

Renting is a good way to try before you buy. But as I've said on here many times. Buy second hand.
I've only ever seen one lense that was beyond repair.
Mostly they are built like tanks.

Are you sure 'a' will happen? It all depends on the supplies of D750. I was looking at the other end of the Nikon spectrum - D3300. This was as low as £220 then when the D3400 was announced the price has actually gone up, about £280 now and the D3400 is even more. Partially this will be due to the 'poor' upgrade of the D3400 over D3300, but if there are not many D750 in stores then they are unlikely to be discounted much and the 'D760' might be more expensive and so keep the D750 prices up.
