At the price you’re paying for a Samsung, if I were you, I would expect longer and more timely support. Seriously, an Android One phones at less than half of the cost of your premium Samsung have better support. Do you really feel that Samsung logo is worth the extra premium? Nothing wrong if you feel that though.

Your right. I don’t believe the samsung logo would justify the premium without timely support.
With Samsung’s declining s9 and 9+ sales, a lot of consumers seem to agree with you.

People are FINALLY voting with their wallets! I'd be curious if the Pixel is what's taking the bite out of those sales...

But the S9 is still selling a hell of a lot more than the pixel or the android one phones.

The pixel hasn’t even sold 5 million units so no its not the pixel phones. It’s cheap Chinese android phones that are taking a bite out of Samsung.

Which is ironic in the context of an argument about update timing/longevity as those devices are LESS likely to get timely updates over an extended period...

Pixels are only available in limited markets and cumulative yearly sales for the pixel 2 is pegged at at around 3 million units well below the 15 million unit projected decline in premium galaxy sales.

You have to also consider that HTC, lg, Sony, and BlackBerry have all sold less than what each oem had projected to sell for the year.

Several here think the Google logo is worth a hefty premium. Samsung have very good software features coupled with excellent hardware. They get timely security updates but tardy o/s upgrades. Who cares though, as many have said! Updates bring bugs, they can slow your phone and decimate the battery life. Been there and got the t-shirt on both platforms. When I have everything working tickety boo and I'm not waiting for a 'fix' to come and sort something then I'm good to go. Updates switched off. Why fix what isn't broken?

I think that has more to do with the supply of decent budget smartphones that have saturated the market along with smartphone incremental improvements. People are sticking with their phones longer. It isn't because people have decided that Samsung don't give timely updates so off with their heads...

Exactly this is just fluff else one of the most popular Apple markets like the UK would not be declining

This is more bragging rights used on forums than massive user base keeping IPhones for 5 or 6 years and opting over Samsung etc on this support point

It helps the declining tablet market as Apple can squeeze the last few cents out of the Applestore etc :D

The logo? What about the best hardware on the market....

They’re also usually half the price or less. So it’s called settling.

Like double or triple times better for the price? Nah. That logo carries more weight since Samsung now is brave enough to sell SD450, a low end chipset, as a premium mid range.

Their flagships are the best hardware pound for pound on the market. Their midrange they are just playing on the galaxy branding and you can find better for less money. But in terms of their flagship phones they have the best hardware.

What if the Ferrari uses the same engine as the Ford? Do you think it’s worth the price now? That’s Samsung.
Well it doesn't. That's the point the internals of a flagship samsung phone are not the same as a midrange one. There's a difference in price between the A5 and the S9 for a reason. Just as theres a difference in price between the SE and the iPhone X.

Show me a mid range samsung with the same processor as a s9!! Thought not...

Plus.... the screen resolution is night and day between a s9 and a a3/a5..

That's samsung right there my friend..

Not sure what your point is, comparing mid range Samsung with flagship Samsung.

Are you for real, you boast that samsung use the same processors on their high end phones as they do on their mid range ones.. ..then say they charge triple the amount, but that's Samsung... are you keeping up, I can go slower if you want...

I then reply saying ferrari are more expensive then Ford's.. for obvious reasons....

You reply should they be if they have the same engine... so.. back to the myth the samsung use the same processor across high end and mid range .models..

I suggest its not only processors but screens as well as to why the high end models are more expensive..

You then post what can only be described as clap trap.. have I missed anything?

Processors, screens, memory speed, RAM & RAM speed etc, everything is the top of the line in a flagship phone.

Swipe right/left in Safari with your thumb to go back or forth.
I don't like the back button on Android phones. Swiping no matter where your thumb is seems more convenient to me.

It is more convenient and the swipe back guesture is system wide. It works in a lot of third party apps too.

So one app where you can swipe left or right, every other app has the back button here there and bloody everywhere, is more convenient than a fixed button that never moves that takes you to the previous screen no matter what app you are in.. I think someone needs to try a bit harder..

Try swiping left in the gallery, it just moved you to the next picture...

It’s not just one app it’s in most apps. The gallery is an exception. I also did not say the back button on Android was rubbish. I bet there is a launcher that would give you the same functionality as iOS anyway.

I do like swiping on the iPhone X. But sometimes miss the back button. Although i find myself swiping on my Samsung S7 (test device) a lot, haha.

You can get into bother accidentally swiping. I miss it occasionally but overall I prefer the back button.
