Currently trying to get myself through Sunset Overdrive on X1 before moving on to Bloodborne on the PS4.

Anyone going to play the free Splatoon demo server test this weekend?
http://splatoon.nintendo.com/news/article/?id=4

Yes, think so - depending on the weather + how much Wolfenstein is going to suck me in. Haven't read you link, but for those of you in Europe: if you download the demo, you'd get 10% off when buying the full game later (think the promo goes on till 4/06 or so). Somewhat strange but... good, right? Unlikely that I'll get it though.

Some current gen stuff with the new XBox One:

XBox One: Halo Master Chief Collection, Rayman Legends (free w/ Gold).
PS4: Destiny

Gonna play XBox 360 and One Titanfall to compare (got the XB1 version at MS Store for $18 - that should be the price if you have to pay to play it online).

I finished Crash Bandicoot 2 yesterday. Today I've just been trying out several different titles on my PS2:

Crash Bandicoot The Wrath of Cortex- a salvaged copy that I found. disc won't read, too badly scratched. bummer

The Hustle: Detroit Streets - a pool game. avoid this game like the plague! I lasted maybe 10 minutes with it. It's crap. The graphics are horrible, the controls are lame, the audio is weird (random voices shouting curses/insults while you play pool?). The pool mini games in GTA are better, at least in GTA if I get bored with pool I can leave and do something else. In this game I won my first monotonous match, until I realized it was best out of 3 - that's when I turned the game off. I wasn't going through that boredom again...

Hitman 2 - I already beat the first 3 Hitman games on PC a few years back. Hitman 2 didn't seem to have aged very well when I tried it again today - kinda clunky. I might get the HD collection for 360; start from the original and give it another go.

The Warriors - next on my list to try. I remember reviews praising this game when it was released. I wasn't very interested in it at the time. I only have the game now because of a trade. I've never seen the Warriors movie so I'm not sure how far I'll get into the game..

As I suspected, The Warriors didn't hold my attention for very long, only for about an hour. The story is okay enough: gangs fighting for turf, respect, etc. The gameplay itself, a beat 'em up style game, is downright boring though. The fighting is dull. A light attack, heavy attack, and a grab/toss is about as varied as the combat goes. It's boring. Perhaps I'm just spoiled by the combat from the Batman Arkham games I've played.

On to better things. Metroid II: Return of Samus!

Yes! Played it, loads better than I thought it'd be. Always thought it looked fun and I'm glad it plays great too so it's a definite-buy now.

I played 2 of the one hour Splatoon sessions over the weekend. Pretty darn fun and I really like the concept! The game reminded me a lot of Plants vs Zombies Garden Warfare.

Only thing I did not like was the gyroscopic controls and having to use the gamepad. I think gyroscopic controls will be optional in final release, but Wii Pro controller will not be supported in on-line mode (only available for 1v1 local play). That kinda sucks. I guess Nintendo wants you to use the gamepad second screen for the map.

For me, I will probably wait for reviews before buying. While on-line mode is great, I want to hear how good the single player campaign is first before committing.

I bought it cheap.... Its pretty much rubbish tbh.

You werent lying. Played a couple hours of it and man it is this force fed, stereotypical story and repetitive combat throughout that I thought would eventually do something different but it didnt.

It's a shame because it looked pretty nice visually.

Still on Bloodborne. I get through one or two bosses a weekend, though last weekend had a monster gaming weekend and beat three - Rom, Paarl, and One Reborn, plus killed 7 hunters.

I wish I were further along, but I'm limited to playing on weekends and only like to play this game when I'm in the right mind set and have at least a two hour session to play.

So far my favorite boss fight was probably Father G. Amelia, Blood Starved Beast, and Shadows were pretty good too. Some of those hunter fights are just as hard as the bosses, the one guarding Rom gave me some difficulty.

My favorite weapon is interestingly enough my starting weapon, the Hunter's Axe. It's got the most varied moveset and the R2 charged strong attack is amazing. Thought I'd like Ludwig's Sword, but the charged R2 is like a whole second slower than the axe. I also tried Blades of Mercy, which are nice and fast, but short reach. My second favorite weapon is probably Tonitrus. It's quick and can be deadly when charged, but has low durability.

My most feared enemies are those Brain Suckers. Got wrecked more than once by them and lost a bunch of insight. I hope I don't have to face too many more of those in upcoming zones!

Anyhow, that's where I'm at. I have one more weekend to play it before switching to Witcher 3. Clearly I won't finish the game this weekend, but will likely play Witcher 3 and Bloodborne in parallel, as I am determined to beat Bloodborne now that I've crossed the midway point.

Witcher 3 in a week! It's getting killer reviews - presently 92 on metacritic. As if there was any doubt it. I can't wait!

I just beat Metroid II: Return of Samus. :)

I'm not sure yet if I want to start Final Fantasy VIII or Oddworld: Abe's Exodus next. Maybe Oddworld since I don't really know what to expect from it.

Didn't have any time to play the Splatoon demo, but just watched some footage and it does look quite entertaining! My only concern is that it seems you going for permanent rapid fire - is that true?

Slowly making my way through GTA5 on PS4. I am actually enjoying this much more than the previous GTA games. Mission design seems more varied than the usual "drive to map marker and kill everyone". Preparing and pulling off heists is really fun. Story and characters are great, too, except Trevor. He is just a little too overdone and forced, the constant yelling gets tiiring and loses effect. Anyway, I'm having fun, and at my current pace this should keep me busy for months to come.

Besides that, I still play Minecraft more than anything else. With the amount of time I have spent with it, I probably could have beaten all three Dragon Age games instead. :D

I still want to finish Outlast and play Slender, but I am too scared!

I couldn't stand Outlast. Not because it was too scary but because the main character is a wimp. I wished I could have picked up something, anything, to use as a weapon to defend myself with no matter how feeble the attempt might have been. Instead all you can do is run and hide. I suppose that's how the game gets its scares and tension but it ended up just annoying me. I felt the same way about Amnesia: The Dark Descent, a similar game without combat. Running away all the time isn't much fun in a game.

I haven't played it yet but from what I've seen and read Alien Isolation does the "first-person-survival-horror-stealth" genre right. You still rely on running and hiding to survive but you at least get a few weapons to distract or stun the Alien with. I can't wait to try it.

Ohhh, you're in for a real treat! Welcome to the med bay. :D

Well, I couldn't get into Oddworld: Abe's Exoddus. I found controlling the other characters with the different voice commands to be a big pain in the ass. Shelving it. Maybe I'll try it again some day..

On to try Final Fantasy VIII.

I'm still in Bloodborne, and still loving it. I'm in Upper Cathedral Ward now, and some of your fears are realized here...

I wish it was easier to summon help. I've been having problems in the Chalice dungeons (want to get that Short Root chalice) and have never successfully summoned anyone.

Most of the tougher bosses I've soloed because I can't get help, and simply try, try again until I beat them.

Witcher is intriguing, and I'll likely pick that up if the reviews/player input is positive

Cool, I'm doing Upper Cathedral Ward next (oh crap, sounds like more Brainsuckers, egads!), but won't get to play Bloodborne for a couple of weeks. I just have that and Nightmare of Mensis zones to finish until the end bosses.

Last weekend I did Nightmare Frontier and beat Amygdala (easy pushover boss for me), and Cainhurst Castle and beat Martyr Logarius. Logarius has been the hardest boss for me since Father G.

I changed my mind a bit on Ludwig's sword. I needed something faster than the axe against Logarius, and Ludwig's sword in short form fit the bill nicely. Once I had that equipped and figured out how to get some visceral attacks on Logarius, I finally took him down. Awesome boss fight!

Not much interest in doing the Chalice dungeons really, as getting lost in random repetitive dungeons with no story line for meager loot is not too appealing to me, plus I'm anxious to move on to Witcher 3. I know I'm probably missing out on some good boss fights though. Otherwise I'd offer to try and help you with some of those dungeons. I might try one though before the end game.

Witcher III drops today, WOOP! Reviews are very positive. Only sad thing is I won't have an opportunity to start playing it until monday :(

Bloodborne

So this weekend the update (1.04) for Bloodborne arrived, which added some nice features, such as storing more than 99 blood vials/silver bullets in your storage chest.

The other things which I liked is the ability to match with people regardless of level, which makes co-op happen a lot faster (at least to me).

I managed to complete the game this weekend. I still feel like I need a couple more playthroughs to really understand it, and master the combat system.

I think it's close to a masterpiece, and I may have thought it was in fact a masterpiece if it wasn't for the fact that I'd played DS/DSII, and Demon's Souls before it. As such, I've seen the framework of the system that's in place for Bloodborne, and it isn't new/revolutionary to me.

That said, I'd easily give it a 9.5/10, and think it'll get even closer to perfect with another update or two. I am hoping that the DLC expands it, and fleshes it out a bit.

If you are still on the fence about this game, pick it up-the Souls series of games have been the only ones that consistently give me a great sense of accomplishment when I defeat an area/boss, and I get lots of enjoyment helping other players progress. In fact, that's what I did most of last evening-helped people kill the bosses where I couldn't find help

Just got the Walking Dead season 2 and started it last night.

Great start and I really enjoyed the first one and also always enjoy TellTale style games.

That reminds me -- I forgot I bought that for my iPad. I played the first season on 360, and often felt the story had more "critical" moments than the TV show. This gives me something to do later on this evening...

I tried and gave up on Final Fantasy VIII - just couldn't get into it.

After that I messed around with the MegaMan Anniversary collection on PS2. I've always sucked at MegaMan games, TBH. It was great hearing the title music for MM3 again. I had that game as a kid and played the crap out of it. I remember that eventually I did get pretty far in it but never beat it.

This week I've just been playing Battlefield 3 on PC for some pretty much mindless fun, lol.

Now I'm going to start on WinBack for PS2. One of my friends rented WinBack for his N64 when it first came out. I remember he stayed over one night and brought his 64 and WinBack. We played that game for hours on end. We got to the last few levels but we never got a chance to finish it. I remember that the controls were pretty bad. I'm hoping the PS2 version is improved.
