Not really playing since I still install it but hyped for MKX!

Now in dire need of a controller for my PC I just googled WiiU Pro Controller usage for PC and this actually works!! Seems a bit like a hassle though - still worth it. Anybody here did this by any chance? Love the ProCon.

I haven't tried it yet, but that is good to know. I like the WiiU Pro Controller too, it's got INSANE battery life.

Though to be honest, you are probably better off getting a 360 controller, either wired or wireless. Far less hassle since most games support it without fuss.

Currently Playing Xenoblade Chronicles.

The main reason I bought a New 3DS XL .

I'm not sure what you are talking about, but, I picked up a Mayflash Wii U Pro Controller Adatper and it works perfectly to imitate a 360 controller. It has two settings, a regular setting, Dinput, where you can map the keys the way you want, and an Xinput, where it will be read as a 360 contoller.

I've used it with Skyrim, Star Citizen/Arena Commander, and a couple others, with no problems. Thank god, it saves me from having to blow $$ on yet another controller, esp. for a M$ one.

OP is probably referring to using something like X360ce to software map the controller. If your computer has built in Bluetooth, that is not necessarily a bad way to go and it's free.

Your hardware solution seems like a very good solution if you don't mind using up a USB port and spending a small amount of coin. It is certainly a lot easier to get things working, that is for sure.

I get were you are coming from on #'s of controllers. I've got so many lying around now, it's dizzying.

Well, just found out that it was possible and, while excited since I somewhat didn't expect it to work, those (english - not a native speaker) descriptions how to get it to work included about 10-12 steps - enough for me to be called a hassle. ;)

But cool to know there's an plug-to-play adaptor :)
will get it for sure. bought me a cheap wanna-be 360 controller today since the M$ ones are indeed utterly expensive. Great news to me either way!

ninja'd by mandoman. Yes indeed, the manuals were all about bluetooth usage - I just got MK X yesterday evening and wanted to play, couldn't find my old 360 controller and just accidentally gave my wii u one a thought.

I finished Prototype 2 late last night.

I'm going to start Gears of War 2 tonight. I wasn't too terribly impressed with the first one when I played it last year. I'll give it a shot anyway as I have the 3rd one as well.

I re-bought bloodborne after watching some play-thrus. I finally got to the cleric beast ... Then died. But hell the fact that I've managed to make some tangible progress at long last is a good thing. Now I need to watch some cleric beast tip videos.

You are a real glutton for punishment :)

If you are having a hard time with cleric beast, spam him with molotov cocktails. Also, now that you have found him, you can level up at hunter's dream. Grind blood echoes if you have to and raise you stats (vitality, endurance, strength are most important). Also level your weapon to +1 with shards, you should have found enough by now to level it at least once.

Good luck!

I know, but I'm glad I took another bite at the cherry.

That's exactly what I plan to do with the cleric beast and I have spent a good couple of hours today running through first area killing the beasts I know I can take down without issues and heading back to hunters dream it to level up and to upgrade my weapon with blood shards.

Also once I've done that a few more times I'll get more blood echoes to trade for Molotovs and oil.

If only I knew about all this before I lost my patience last time. It's like the designers want the game to be inaccessible to newcomers by not explaining the basic mechanics.

Anyone else enjoying MK X? Not into fighting games at all in general and this is my first MK game ever but - it's really good. Only thing I'd appreciate since I've been playing it in school with my friends on SNES back then that they should remove the cinematic auto-combos, getting kinda old fast and slows down the overall experience imo - less would be more.

Word is there are a lot of complaints on the Steam forums how despite meeting the minimum and even recommended specs, the game still runs poorly, with low frame rates. Doesn't seem like this implementation was optimized?

Last I played was MK (9). One review I read said it was quite similar to that. Also heard with they went with an "version" or "archetype" thing where some characters have multiple versions of themselves... and no, I'm not talking about Classic Sub Zero vs. new (MK3) Sub Zero (although that seems to illustrate the point), as those were 2 separate characters. After you choose a char, you select a version. Here, special move(s) available to one may not be available to the other and vice versa. Can't say I'm a fan of this system (also seen in Samurai Showdown 3 & 4), but I'll reserve final judgment if I ever get to place this.

I bought it at same time as re-buying bloodborne. Only played a little but it is good. Though tbh the amount of DLC premium stuff is an absolute joke and totally taking the piss.

Yeah, I heard a lot of complaints about the micro-transactions in MKX. Ridiculously overpriced. I wish micro-transactions in $60 console games would just go away!

Not into fighters much, Smash Brothers excepted, so don't plan to buy MKX anytime soon, if ever. While a played a little MK and SSFII on my SNES back in the day, I never could remember all the special combos to actually get good enough at them to fully appreciate.

@ackmondual: yes, I followed the steam forum quite a bit, tbh it worked out of the box for me beautifully. Then came the 15gig day2 patch and now there is a weird graphical bug on one stage (fun thing was I've been playing the campaign on an alternate version of said stage and really wasn't sure if that was just meant to be. Had to go vs Reptile, not sure if he'd poisoned me or sth...:D). Pretty sure there will be a patch about this, think it's AMD only and already a beta driver available.

think it helped not dl the very first day.

DLC is pretty bad in this one, yep, but on the other hand the base game contains lots and lots of stuff to do or unlock. I don't take buying easy fatalities serious though. But Jason and Predator I just have to have..

Stages are absolutely gorgeous! Only thing I miss is a proper 'tourney' stage, like the Shao Kahn one in MK9. And the Dead Woods one, always terrified me as a kid. I'm never going to master this due lack of talent but i kinda dig the multiple versions of the fighters. think there are about 55skins to unlock so there is also that and a lot to do. The pc version already has the mod were you can play as the final boss for example, don't want to spoil it, who looks absolutely badass imo.

In the end this really delivered for me, eventually even getting MK9, which is said to play a bit slower, since X is a somewhat serious business and I also like the over the top, cheesy tournament flair. At least there is a Komplete Edition to be had for cheap..

Excellent!

I'm glad you went for it again. It's truly a great game.

For the Cleric beast-I didn't have too much trouble with him, but I'm familiar with Souls games. Mostly it's about moving towards him when he attacks (then he usually misses), and dodging to the side of the sweeps. Then hammer with molotovs, or get close for a heavy R2 attack.
Other bosses are more frustrating, and I died on Father G about 6 times before figuring him out a bit (use the terrain), and the blood starved beast is a pain. But, the game gives you clues along the way as to what you'll need to survive.

This is what I did to lessen the frustration:
I make multiple characters, so that if I'm stuck somewhere, I can load up another character and make progress. Also, as the game does not really help you along the way early on, if you make what you feel is a mistake with one character, you can correct it with one of the others. Also, the experience you gain with one character makes it easier to proceed with the others, so that you (eventually) can dominate those areas that were tough in the beginning. Makes me feel like I'm a somewhat passable player :)

If I'm totally stuck, I've used YouTube in the past to help me figure stuff out, but really it's better if you don't. This game, I've gone through ENB's vids only when I've been sure I'm done everything in a particular area, and I still end up learning something, and seeing things I've missed. Also, I've learned that my technique is usually harder than needed for a particular boss fight. (Although I'm happy with the way I figured out Father G!)

I heard about that patch coming this Thursday I think, and it's supposed to lessen load times, and patch a few things. Loading screens suck, no way to sugar coat that!

Good luck!

The new patch really improves loading indeed.

I'm still farming like a madman. My strength is up to level 27 and I'm still on first central yarnham stage. Decided really to level up before taking on cleric beast and in process Set myself up for things to come.

I just finished the campaign on Gears of War 2.

I think now I'll hook up one of my PS1's (have the original and a PSOne) and get started on Crash Bandicoot. Never played a Crash game before. One of my friends was really into the Crash games and I vaguely remember watching him play.

I am glad you are hanging in there. Be aware that strength first soft level cap is 25. After that, that stat improvements don't go up as fast. Don't ignore Vitality and Endurance. New souls players often neglect endurance, which dictates how many swings you can get in on your weapon before tiring, among other things. Apart from those, start investing in Skill, The more popular weapons damage scales off of that too. You will get a better rate of return on your blood echoes then investing all in strength, but it really depends on your weapon of choice.

While farming easy areas, try and practice your visceral attacks. Backstab = sneaking up behind enemy by walking slowly as to not make much noise, hit with charged R2, than get close to enemy and R1 to finish. Stagger = shoot enemy just right (usually when they are on downswing of their weapon), than finish with R1. In both cases, if you do it right, you will hear a 'chug' sound after the R2 (backstab) or shot (stagger) indicating it is safe to R1 finish. These are two key elements to master.

Thanks so much for the tips, really appreciate it. :)

The single most important thing I've learned for Boss fights is to be aware of/use the terrain.

Souls games are set up pretty precisely IMHO for the "arenas" you find bosses in.

For example, I was unable to defeat Father G before using terrain to my advantage. The first few fights were comical, as he's so aggressive, and I was trying to get my hits in while he's pummeling me. After thinking about what I could do better, it clicked, and was more of a moment of "remember this is a Souls game-be aware of your surroundings!"

I tend to upgrade endurance first, to be able to move around the opponents, and still be able to dash in, land a few hits, and get out of there. After that is skill, then vitality, then strength usually. Suits the way I play.

Managed to kill those Shadows of Yharham (sp?) yesterday, after remembering that first point. Again, my first few fights with them were comical, and they consisted of me simply running around trying to avoid them for slightly longer periods of time. Then, I changed strategy, used the terrain, and was more aggressive rather than defensive. Worked out well!

Good luck-let us know if you'd like any tips-you are soon to be hooked, I predict....
