Streets of Rage 2 - great game & absolutely awesome soundtrack ("Go Straight" could totally work in contemporary clubs and nobody would notice!)

Have fun with Midir ;)

I have finished everything / every boss except Midir. I can't knock him off the bridge and can't call for assistance as the other heirs are killed.

80 hours and level 135 and still can't knock that fecker off the bridge to initiate his boss battle and complete the game with every boss dead.

Tempted to buy a time sink like Elite: Dangerous or Cities Skylines. Those look like fun! Then I remember that I don't have any time to sink into them and hear the weeping of my purchased yet unopened games in the other room, and I save my money...

Tried that and he still frapes me. I've tried lightning arrows as he is supposed to be weak to those but he simply adjusts his flames and I get blasted even if I am far left behind the boulder.

I think I ran out into the middle of the bridge and fired off an arrow or two, then ran back behind the boulder. If you do that he shouldn't shoot flames at the boulder. If he's giving you that much trouble now just wait until you get to the real fight :D

I'm determined to do it ... After so long getting to this point and in process surprising myself, I really would just like to finish him off and mark that feather in my cap :)

Then back to Nioh and try to plod my way through that or do the Bloodborne DLC ....

Been playing Crash Bandicoot trilogy on my PS4P. I don't remember it being that tough lol. One problem I'm having is the analog stick keeps slipping from my thumb, especially bad during the boulder run or the hog ride levels. I generally use the D pad, but those levels work better with the added precision of the analog stick.

Anyone else has the issue with the analog stick slipping, is there a solution? The Xbox controllers with the fully concave analog sticks don't have this issue.

Biggest issue with Crash is they changed / tampered with the hit detection and made it far harder to land jumps generally in all sections.

Is Dark Souls 2 worth buying on PS4 in the sale ? It's €9.99 ..... I've heard mixed reactions.

Yes, get it! More excellent Dark Souls. Some of the areas are kind of ridiculous with gank squad mobs of enemies, almost like they designed the game so you have to farm the enemies until they stop respawning on the way to bosses. That's the biggest change I can think of - the enemies stop spawning after you kill them 10? times. I didn't know that when I started playing, I though my game was glitching once enemies started disappearing! My first play through of the base game took me something like 60 hours. My replay I finished recently plus the 3 DLC areas took me about 52? hours, so there is a lot of game for $10..!

One of the biggest gripes I've read is about Soul Memory where co-oping/invading doesn't go off of levels for who you can be matched up with but how many souls you have acquired.

It's still very enjoyable. I like a challenging platformer, Its up there with donkey kong tropical freeze including the K levels. Not sure I have what it takes to 100% it though, namely the time trials which will be the toughest part. Love it :D besides the slippery analog stick.

I've been looking at that, too. What kept me off was that I had a hard time with how DS1 controlled. It felt slow and unresponsive after playing Bloodborne. Supposedly DS2 is basically the same engine, and they only improved the controls with DS3. (I read an article on that, but it was many months ago...)

I'll save the ten bucks for now, the game pops up in PSN sales quite often. My hope is that by the time I finish DS3, there is a Bloodborne 2 out. :D

Sonic Mania completed with all chaos emeralds and stages etc.
Will continue to play it throughout my lunch breaks at work.

Started playing Jak and Daxter last night on PS4. Never played it before as I never owned a PS2, but having an absolute blast with it.
When I first started playing it, I thought it wasn't going to be that great. Looks rough (understandably), and the controls leave a little to be desired. Camera is a bit shoddy and the jumping feels totally off with double jumping often failing on me altogether.

But It's so good!

. I love how each area is fairly small but big enough to hold collectibles and one area seamlessly leads to the other. Yooka-Laylee could learn a thing or two from this game design IMO. Having an absolute blast on it currently. Seems like a decent sized game for its type so hopefully it should tide me over until Tuesday when RE Revelations comes out. Although with an upcoming bank holiday and with how much I'm enjoying this, I can see me being done with it before the weekend!

Really wish they had done a proper remastering of Jack & Daxter like insomniac did to the last Ratchet game.

My copy of Uncharted won't arrive till Monday from Amazon so will download Jak & Daxter then. (I believe the free download code is in the box)

Myself ....

I'll probably be spending all weekend trying to kill Darkeater Midir !!!! :)

Part of me was feeling silly for paying for Jak and Daxter when I could have just bought Uncharted and got it free. But having read people's thoughts on it on another forum and them saying it was all same old same old with wall jumping, then falling due to crumbling sections, then an area full of baddies rinse and repeat, I was kinda glad I've held off. I didn't finish Uncharted 4 coz of the same reason but I enjoyed that more than I expected to.

I agree though. J&D really could do with a full on upgrade. Maybe for PS5! ;)

Striking out with games this week...

Warframe - played it for a while and got bored. Seems kinda pointless - go on missions and collect gear just so you can... go on more missions and collect more gear?
Tried getting into some online shooters - DOOM, Halo 5, or back into it in the case of Battlefield 4. Played each one about an hour before getting bored with it. At this point I've played 1,000's of hours of online FPS's. I think I've had too much of the same spawn, run, kill, die, repeat. I need something more enticing than just going for a good k/d ratio, been there done that already.. I read a lot of hype for Overwatch but not sure it's worth trying.

I'm thinking co-op games might be more what I'm looking for now but haven't found much in my researching. Destiny looks like it is a more polished version of Warframe but I'm on the fence on that.

So failing to get into those games I started a Dead Space 3 replay and was instantly reminded how mediocre and disappointing it was the first time I played it compared to the previous games. Just feels off, not like a Dead Space game, just Generic Third Person Shooter Game #935,156....ugh

I actually can’t stop playing Disgaea on the Switch. All the mechanisms have clicked and I’m having such an awesome time with it. I keep coming back to it because you can’t really lose, but you need to win to progress, so I just fire it up whenever I’m losing in games like Splatoon 2 or dying too much in Sonic Mania :)

Love that game so much! It’s so good that its ruined side-scrolling brawler games forever as none will ever be as good.

I'm just understanding the awesomeness of the switch, I'm on a cruise with my GF and the Switch alongside the iPad Pro is just godly.

I'm playing Mario Kart and Splatoon(awesome by the way) and LUMINES on the iPad.

Do we have a switch friend code thread?

Bless

Just picked up Elite off Steam, the deluxe setup with all of the expansions. Now I have to find the PSU for my HOTAS. Looking forward to setting up my Oculus again for this too. Found some YouTube videos for beginners I'm looking to digest.
