Sapphire RX 480 Nitro+ 4GB with 138.0.0.0.0 firmware. Works perfect. Maybe I will try to do the undervolt mod.
Rocking a Sapphire Pulse RX 580 8GB. It's performing so well that I'm considering selling my HD7950 since all it's doing now is taking up space in a drawer.
Yeah, I've got a GT120 in a drawer...just in case! But you still has at least one Mac EFI GPU on hand for emergency, right?
(I also sold my Sapphire HD7950 Mac Edition with a very good price, but I still have a GT120 and a HD4870)
Any boot screen on the various RX's?
R-9 280X is the last one to have EFI, so any newer card don’t have boot screens/selector/FV2 support. There are no boot screens on the RX 480 RX 580 cards, although apple might allow it as its a supported card, unless there is to be an apple version of the cards of course.
Anyone with one of these??
Radeon Pro WX7100
Advantages: single slot height, 6 pin power connector, same chip as RX580 (I think)
Disadvantage: cost, cost, & cost.
I have an MVC-flashed NVIDIA 1080 Ti 12GB. Anyone have any idea how this works with Mojave? And how does it compare to a 580 Pulse?
One thing to note is that, as it stands, FileVault won’t be available to cMP owners in Mojave regardless of whether the card is flashed and shows bootscreens or not.Should work once the web driver available. Anyway, 1080Ti should be 11GB, not 12GB.
I have both 1080Ti and 580, both can run the 10.14 installer. For performance, really depends on your workflow.
For FCPX, RX580 is much faster.
For 3D, 1080Ti do much better.
For most other compute job, 1080Ti is noticeable faster.
For OS UI, can’t tell the difference in smoothness (rendering at 3850x2160 HiDPI 144Hz), but 1080Ti cannot do 30bit colour, otherwise some blue will become orange. RX580 can do 30bit perfectly.
RX580 has better power management in some 3D apps. Not becasue it’s a lower TDP card, but can clearly see that the driver has better control of power consumption. e.g. when making 3D drawing in 3D-coat, RX580 only draw high power when there is something change on the screen (like Radeon chill in Windows), but 1080Ti will constantly draw high power.
Since you have a flashed card, so you can have boot screen, utilise FileVault, etc which the RX580 can’t do.
