It sort of depends on who you ask, but importantly, this is a legendarily bad Mac. Also, at the very least, the 603 is worse than the 603e, and the Performa 6200 and its variants were the slowest PowerPC Macs ever released. So, depending on who you believe, it really could be down to the cpu. There are certainly other issues, but that's the most painful one.
Ah, ok. That would makes sense. That's interesting.

Trying to use OF to get the TI G4 1GHZ to recognize 2GB of memory since this model came out when MDD did and that supports 2GB.

I finally got the only program I've ever written in C89 which does not work on Big Endian architectures to work on Big Endian Architectures! Well, at least Mac OS X. Finally feel like I really understand endian stuff in programming. No more NUXI problems in the program, I'm no longer "part of the problem".

Also made substantial progress on PPCMC 7.2.2 Final , thinking of just posting it on the 1 year anniversary...

Also, why have the Mods not pinned this thread?

The old "FAQ for PowerPC Macs" should be taken down, it seems unused and the knowledge could be transferred to the starter thread. In its place we should have this thread pinned.
Agreed, is there a limit of how many threads can be pinned? I only joined here about a year ago and have never used any of the other forums.

You'll have to ask the mods that, but we seem to have a disproportionate amount of pinned threads compared to other forums. Not necessarily a bad thing though...
How would I do that? On a side note this place is one of the best I go on, if this place didn’t exist I would’ve probably started macosxlives.com but as of now there really is no need.

There have been times I’ve had to search for this thread to post in it, but it is usually on the front page due to popularity.

This is the earliest known build of Leopard and it's basically Tiger. Except for Time Machine and no classic. But still kinda cool I guess.

TenFourFox runs, but then it crashes. It does that on a G5 too so it isn't related to altivec. I think this build actually predates 10.4.11 so that's probably why. I tried installing QuickTime 7.6.4 and then Finder wouldn't launch so I had to reinstall. So I think this is like.. 10.4.7 with some Leopard preview in it basically.

I built the SeaMonkey Suite for 32-bit powerpc Linux today. I missed having an "all-in-one" browser, email, rss, news, composer, irc client". It's not the latest, but it's new enough. I did patch up oauth2 though for better mail support. Info and download here at the bottom of the page.

Is it built with an older version of GCC? I reinstalled Macbuntu on the iBook G3 today, and would love to give it a try.

Ok, can someone provide me steps how to install Linux on G4 Titanium 1ghz ? I want to experiment with it as I may leave Leopard behind.

I'd suggest start with something easy like MacBuntu or 12.04 Remix. Just burn the .iso, and boot the dvd. If that works, then boot back to Leopard, open disk util and shrink your Leopard partition down to give Ubuntu at least 10gb or more of space. Leave that space unformatted. Boot the dvd again and choose install. It will automatically find the blank partition and install to it. I build all my browsers on 12.04 for greater distro support, so don't worry about it being older. It's better suited for sub 1ghz machines than newer distros anyway. Don't forget to check this page if you run in to issues.

Cheers

Many thanks for the Linux PPC version of SeaMonkey! :) It works on AmigaOnes too.
